The Perdana Botanical Garden is a huge park containing many fun things for kids of all ages near the heart of KL. You'd typically see a large crowd there on weekends but because it's huge, and spans a few play areas. There are smaller structures suitable for younger toddlers too (I'll get more photos next time). Once you are done with the playground, there's lots to explore. We usually enjoy a nice stroll and visit the deers (steps are slippery there) before we go off for lunch nearby. 🚗 Ample parking at the open car park area 🦟 Prepare your mozzie repellent 🦵 Bring a stroller and wear comfortable shoes What I don't like about this park : 🧻 The cleaners use leafblowers to clean up the leaves, making it very unpleasant if they are nearby. 🧻 Toilets are far apart and dirty _________________________________________ There's a lot more to do and see at the park, including a newly built playground near the open air carpark and the deer 🦌 enclosure. Went on an Urban Nature Walk organised by Malaysian Nature Society Selangor Branch ( @mnsselangor ) as one of the activities of the MNS Open Day held at Taman Tugu ( @friendsoftamantugu ) today. Our walk started at the entrance of Perdana Botanical Garden or KL Lake Garden ( @klbotanicalgarden ), passes by Museum Negara and on to Bukit Persekutuan (Federal Hill), then back to our starting point. This might be a common sight to see on trees. #Textureseries features Trentepohlia sp., a kind of green algae that grows on surfaces like leaves, stone walls, twigs, wooden poles, and even on rocky cliffs and damp areas on tree trunks. Due to the presence of carotenoids, it gives off colours like orange, yellowish orange, and green-ish. This algae symbiotically exists with lichen. Majestic crowns of nature - Cycads Introducing our #textureseries with the male and female plants of the Bogak (Cycas clivicola). The female plant has a “crown” with a closed-type cone with megasporophyll. It has neatly arranged structures make it look like a giant cabbage. The Jambu Kuning (Xanthostemon chrysanthus) is a great representative in our #yellowseries. The genus ‘Xantho’ is derived from Greek which means yellow with different shades. Colouration in flowers is due to the pigments found in them and for the range of yellow, red, and orange, the pigment carotenoids are responsible to produce these colours. Amazing!
