ÂŤDonât go and lose your face at some strangerâs placeÂť On this day, 48 years ago, the film âThe man who fell to earthâ was released in the UK đŹđ§. Additionally, the line ÂŤIt takes the pain away but could not make you stayÂť is reminiscent of Mary Louâs and Tommyâs relationship.

I guess we tried to make a point by saying, âLook, it has a post tuning on it and a harp, and just as long as we write it and we like it, itâs Placebo.â And people also have this misconception about the band being depressed and very dark and somber. And itâs true at certain points because as a human being everybody is like that at certain points at their lives or at certain points during the day. But also as human beings, we fall in love, we have laughter, we have a good time, we go dancing. It's an interesting fact that the shooting location of this film was Charles Manson's former ranch in Los Angeles, California. Manson was a notorious American criminal who led the Manson Family. Today we celebrate the âŚđđĄđĄđđŠđđĽđŚđđĽđŹâŚ of Placebo's first big worldwide hit single âđđŞđ§đ đ˘đ¤đ§đŁđđŁđâ. It was released 25 years ago today on August 3rd 1998. The song reached no 19 in the US Billboard Chart, no. 4 in the UK Singles Chart, no. 21 in New Zealand and no. 8 in Iceland to name but a few rankings. đŹ đŁđ¨đĽđ đ đ˘đĽđĄđđĄđ đľ http://bit.ly/2QuvRqF đľ It's hard to believe but âPure morningâ wasn't even meant to become a single in the first place. The band recorded it as b-side song after the album âWithout you I'm nothingâ was already finished. But they immediately knew it was too good to use it as b-side and so it was added to the album in last minute and became the lead single of it. This explains why it is the only song on âWithout you I'm nothingâ that was produced by Phil Vinall (who had worked with Placebo on their single âNancy Boyâ before) while all other tracks were produced by Steve Osborne. âPure morningâ is not a typical Placebo song and the band's manager Alex Weston made clear that it was not indicative of the band's new direction. âIt just stood right out. It needs a couple of listens, but then it's pretty hard to get out of your head. It's a risk, but one worth taking," she stated (dotmusiccom, July 1998). Brian said that âPure morningâ is overall a song about friendship. It deals with "coming down when the rest of the world is waking up", such as when clubgoers get home as the sun rises and everyone else is going to work, a situation he has been in very often. The feeling of dislocation, "that point you feel like your life is the least sorted ever" could be solved by someone who "slip their arm around you and make slumber easier." Brian summed it up with the words "All you really crave is for a friend to put their arms around you and make you feel better. Thatâs the pure morning, when that happensâ. The official music clip of âPure morningâ was directed by Nick Gordon and shot in slow-motion at the junction of Savoy Street and Savoy Hill in London. .../***/ đ˘ SEE THE PICTURES FOR THE REST OF THE TEXT đ˘ đđ°đ¸ đĽđ° đşđ°đś đđŞđŹđŚ đľđŠđŚ đ´đ°đŻđ¨ đ˘đŻđĽ đľđŠđŚ đˇđŞđĽđŚđ°, đ´đ°đśđđŽđ˘đľđŚđ´? đđ ¸đ ťđ şđ ´

Today we celebrate the âŚď¸đđđđĄ đđđđđđđđđđđ đ¨đ "đđđđ đđđđđđđ"âŚď¸â, a song produced by Jim Abbiss. It was released as second single from âSleeping with ghostsâ on June 16th 2003 and reached no. 23 in the UK Singles Chart. đŹ đŁđđđđđđ˘ â đ§đđđŚ đŁđđđ§đ¨đĽđ đľ https://bit.ly/2Vt9LJV đľ âThis Pictureâ was originally meant to be a piano ballad, but then the band decided to change it into a rock song. In spite of that it seems they also still liked the piano version because they played it live for RTL2 France Acoustic Session. This performance was later released on the âThis Pictureâ DVD single. The lyrics of the song deal with a destructive relationship involving sadomasochism and abuse. The story is told from a men's view and the female is in the position of dominance. The phrase âashtray girlâ in the song text refers to a woman who uses her partner as an emotional ashtray. "Cigarette burns on my chest" is a (more or less) hidden reference to James Dean and his supposed fetish to have cigarettes stubbed out on his chest. The shared official video is about someone who has lost their identity in a self-destructive relationship (see quotes below). It features Italian actress Asia Argento who had already collaborated with Trash Palace and Brian on the Serge Gainsbourg cover âJe t'aime moi no plusâ in 2002. Considering that it was a successful single the live history of âThis Pictureâ is quite short. It was just played 131 times by the band, almost only during the âSleeping with ghostsâ and the short âOnce more with feelingâ tours. This album was made as a reaction to our previous album, Meds, which we with some hindsight feel is quite a dark and bleak record. So when it came to making this one, we wanted something more colorful with more hope and optimism. Battle for the sun is a reference to making a decision to try to lead a happier more balanced life. đśâđđđđđđ đđđđđđđđâđś was released 26 years ago today on May 12th 1997 and reached no. 14 in the UK Singles Chart. The album version is a heavy riff-based track. Robert also played guitar in the band Siouxie and the Banshees (1982-1984) and was part of the short-lived group The Glove in 1983.
