Porsche 911 GT3 R The Porsche 911 GT3 R is a customer-based racing car based on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, designed for GT3 racing series around the world. It is equipped with a 4.0-liter flat-six water-cooled engine, which is largely identical to the high-performance unit used in the road models. With direct fuel injection operating at pressures up to 200 bar and variable valve timing technology, this engine offers particularly efficient fuel usage and improved drivability thanks to a wider rev range. Power is transmitted to the 310mm wide rear wheels via a Porsche six-speed sequential constant-mesh gearbox. The GT3 R features a lightweight body design with aluminum-steel composite elements and carbon fiber components, as well as polycarbonate windows. In 1973, Porsche introduced the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The letters RS stood for 'Rennsport' and this model was intended as a homologation special for the FIA Group 4 class. The Carrera RS had wider rear tires and rear wheel arches, larger brakes, stiffer suspension and a characteristic ducktail spoiler. Due to the larger engine capacity of 2.7 liters and Bosch Mechanical fuel injection, the car had 210 hp. Weighing just 1075kg, this was one of the fastest cars of its time. There was even a 100 kilogram lighter Sport Lightweight available, which used thinner steel and glass. The model has now become one of the great icons of the Porsche brand with styling features that we often see on contemporary models. A total of 1580 examples of the Carrera RS were built. The Porsche Carrera GT (Project Code 980) is a mid-engine[4] sports car that was manufactured by German automobile manufacturer Porsche from 2004[5] to 2006. Sports Car International named the Carrera GT number one on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 2000s, and number eight on its Top Sports Cars of All Time list. For its advanced technology and development of its chassis, Popular Science magazine awarded it the “Best of What’s New” award in 2003. The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned a new Le Mans prototype for the 1999 season. The car was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-six engine, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine, pushing the project back to planned completion in 2000. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992, but later shelved. The engine was resurrected for the Le Mans prototype.
