The Characteristics of an Affective Father of Faith Everything about Christianity and God, in general, is about faith. Faith is the anchor of our Christian work. You can’t have a relationship with God without faith. For us faith is a conscious choice we make and our Christian work is about the true journey of our faith. Faith is the ability to commit yourself to something or someone. Jairus is an example of a biblical father of faith in the Bible. Regardless of all the power Jairus has he still has an issue not even his connections can fix. Our faith is tested and strengthened in the face of challenges. Even when Jairus has Jesus’ attention he still has to have faith in God’s timing. God rarely works on our schedules; waiting is part of building our Christian faith. Sometimes God will be silent and his delay does not mean denial. Access Through Faith: The Author and Finisher of Our Faith Two pillars of Christianity are faith and grace, these gifts are tools needed to achieve a Christian life. There are three definitions of faith. Faith is what you accept to be true, faith is what you put your trust in, and lastly, faith becomes a Christian’s source of power. In the Bible, we describe Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith. There are two areas where we can buy our faith in. We can put faith in the wisdom of men yet be cautious or we can put our faith in the power of God. When you put your faith solely into the wisdom of men you will be disappointed, as they are still men and God gave them said wisdom. When having faith we also have to be careful of people and direct their faith to the power of God. We must also focus on our faith and listen. Jesus needed to go to the grave to defeat sin in the grave. Genesis 3, says the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the devil. He did not just come to forgive our sins, He went to the grave and administered salvation to those who were not privy to the message. The one prayer that Jesus prayed in John 17:11 was for God to give grace to the disciples to be one as God and Jesus are one. The unity of the body of Christ, the church, validates the authenticity of the assignment of Christ. We can not manifest the full dimensions of the glory of God until we are united. Therefore, there are levels of access we are praying for that will never be granted until we become one. Genesis 11:1-8 says the whole world had one language and a common speech. To keep humanity from being too powerful, God confuses human languages and scattered mankind around the world. As Christians, we are called to show love in various ways, such as spending time with others, doing things for them, speaking kind words, using respectful language, and speaking positively about them, even when they are not around. It's important to love our neighbors as God loved us, although that doesn't necessarily mean we have to make the ultimate sacrifice as Jesus did on the cross. Therefore, as Christians, we should strive to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, and the city set upon a hill without being asked.
