A SNIPPET FROM THIS MORNINGS @fitnesscartel_x CLASS 💪🏼 • This mornings class was a goodie (and something ANYONE can do, whether you train at home or at a gym) • I won’t give away the whole class (you’ll need to come in or hop on board our online training system to get that 😉) BUT I thought I would share a bit of it with you so that you can add it to one of your own workouts 🏋🏽‍♀️ • Warm up properly (in case you didn’t do so…I love doing some pre-fatigue exercises here to give the body an extra push) and then set your timer for 2 minute intervals with a 30 second rest ⏰ • In those 2 minutes you are going to do as many rounds of these exercises as possible (aka an AMRAP) • 1️⃣ 10 x sprawls with 40 x cross body mountain climbers (repeated until the time is up) REST 50 jumping jacks 2️⃣ 10 x jump squats with 10 x squat with a calf raise (repeated until the time is up) REST 50 jumping jacks 3️⃣ 20/20 x shoulder taps with 20 x half burpees/double mountain climber (repeated until the time is up) REST 4️⃣ 20/20 x switch lunge’s with 20/20 x reverse lunge’s- Aim to get your back knee as close to the ground as possible (repeated until the time is up) REST 50 jumping jacks 5️⃣ 10 x straight leg sit ups with 20/20 x bicycle crunches REST 50 jumping jacks • Seems simple (and it is) but it’s effective and will help you get your sweat on 😋 • If you have any questions about the exercises, pop them below OR if you are keen to join the @fitnesscartel_x family then let’s get the ball rolling😜 • Oh, and should I share more workouts? EVERYBODY IS BEAUTIFUL 🩷 • I was recently involved in a special Women’s Day campaign for @motherkindco 💫 • I met the most incredible and beautiful women… • A part of the campaign involved telling a stranger the things that we tell ourselves daily… • Saying aloud the things that I tell myself every day seemed all kinds of wrong… • ‘Fat’, ‘lazy’, ‘unworthy’, ‘ugly’… • Just to name a few… • We would never say these things to a stranger…We would never dream of saying these things to a friend… • And yet… • Somehow we deem it acceptable to call ourselves these things… • I learnt so much from this exercise…In fact, it was quite an emotional experience… • You can follow more about this on the Motherkind page ❤️

SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE ❤️ • This can be said when applying concealer 🪞 • Lying in the sun ☀️ • Adding salt or spices to your food 🧂 • And when running (or training in general) 🏃🏻‍♀️ • I have gone from running 100 km’s a week to running 30 to 40 km’s 🏃🏻‍♀️ • I’ve replaced 4 of my runs with @fitnesscartel_x classes which include cardio (in small bursts) and of course, weight training 💪🏼 • To my surprise, without trying, I’m running faster than I’ve done in years 🥳 • Whether it’s because I’m physically stronger or because I’m well rested and not running on tired legs all the time, I don’t know… • Maybe it’s because I have allowed my body to recover sufficiently or perhaps I’m mentally stronger and just excited when I do hit the road, who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ • I would like to think it’s a combination of all of the above 👆🏼 • Something I am 100 % sure on though, and I am my own testament to this…Sometimes less is more. Focus more on the quality of your training than on the quantity… • There’s no point giving 40 % to a workout everyday when you could be giving 100 % to a workout every other day… • I promise your body is going to thank you in the long run ❤️ • Listen to it, it often has tons to say 😉 • This pic was taken a few weeks ago at a @dailydose_sa run where I was lucky enough to win the most insane prize from @voomawater 🏆 Thanks guys 😁 • What can you guys add to my ‘Less is more’ list…Let’s hear yours…

FRESH AIR…IT JUST DOES SOMETHING TO THE SOUL 💫 • What are some things that you do when you are feeling down or need a bit of a ‘pick me up’? • Do you shop? Have a long bath? Exercise? Do some self care? Watch a series? 📺 • I would love to hear your ‘go to’s’… • Mine is spending at least 30 to 60 minutes in nature, whether it’s a jog on the promenade or just a walk, or even just sitting somewhere and taking in the view 🌊 • Studies have actually showen that spending time in nature in linked to cognitive benefits, improvement in mood, mental health as well as emotional well being ❤️ • After a stroll along the promenade this afternoon, I left feeling SO much better 🥰 • So if you too have had or ever have a crappy day, take a walk outside…It’s cheaper than shopping and you can get some steps in too 😉 • All my love (and pb) Jo

BREAKFAST FOR THE WEEK 🍫 • This weekend I prepped a brownie breakfast ‘pizza’ to have as my brekkie for the week ahead 😍 • Without tooting my own horn too much, enjoying this after my morning run honestly lifted my mood TEN FOLD 😉 • As always, it’s sugar free and high in protein, thanks to the @beautygen_sa collagen I used 😁 • This was also another blender recipe so it was SUPER easy to make 👌🏼 • Let me know in the comments below what you had for breakfast AND if this is something you would like to whip up for future breakfasts? 🫶🏻 • @dischem_foods @dischem_livingfit

9 JANUARY 2023 💫 • Tomorrow, the 9th of January, this one heads back to work at Fitness Cartel full time and I’m going to seriously miss us being attached to the hip 😢 • Since I’ve been on leave, I’ve gone in to @fitnesscartel_za with him every day to help out during classes, participate in classes to be able to give feedback and to try learn as much as possible from this man who has been in the health and fitness industry for well over a decade 🔥 • I’m BEYOND excited to be doing the adventure that we get to call our life together😁 • @sheldonhill_fitnesscartel opening up your dream gym has not been the easiest feat BUT you have done it and I am extremely grateful for this time off as I feel like I’ve learnt more than any textbook or PT qualification could teach me- Thank you, bub 😘 • SOOOOO… • I’ll be taking the classes until I am back at work and thereafter I’ll be taking the afternoon classes…YAY!!! 💃🏽 • I am nervous, excited, and honestly, I am freaking out a bit BUT I’m a firm believer that in order to grow, you have to get uncomfortable 😉 • If you are going to do anything in 2023, do something that makes you uncomfortable 😎 You’ll thank me in 2024 💪🏼 • Here’s to making 2023 a goodie my friends 🤩 • Everything you need to know about the gym, classes, and and and, can be found in the link in my bio 😋 • 2023…Let’s get after it 💪🏼🔥

5 INGREDIENTS & 5 MINUTE TRUFFLES 🎄 • I make these…Every. Single. Christmas- Without fail! • There’s not much better than whipping something up for your loved ones, especially when it takes a few minutes to put together and looks pretty impressive 😂😉 • In case you didn’t get the recipe waaaay down on my page, I thought I would reshare it here… • Later on this week I will share a ‘How to’ of myself creating these for the family as I make the 2022 version this coming week ❤️ • INGREDIENTS: 16 @gullon_sa twin cookies (Found at @dischem_pharmacies @dischem_foods @dischem_livingfit ) 1 tub fat free cottage cheese, smooth 2 servings collagen or 1 serving whey protein 1/4 cup coconut flour Some sugar free white chocolate (Optional- 2 red cherries and 2 green cherries cut into slices/pieces to resemble mistletoe) • METHOD: 1. Add the cookies to a food processor and blend until it looks like soil 🤣 2. Add the cottage cheese and collagen/protein and blend again. 3. Add the coconut flour and blend for the last time. 4. With damp hands, roll into balls. 5. Decorate by dipping into melted sugarfree chocolate or drizzling some sugarfree chocolate over them. 6. Keep refrigerated in an airtight container • And there you have it 😉 • I’ve got something cinnamon and ginger inspired to share next, as well as a festive season baking shopping haul I did at @dischem_foods where I basically get ALL my ingredients from🎄😝

DAY 4 🎄 • This recipe is a definite winner 👌🏼☺️ • I literally make these every single year and if anything screams Christmas, it’s the flavours in these bliss balls 🎅🏼 The best part is, every single ingredient can be bought from your nearest @dischem_pharmacies @dischem_foods @dischem_livingfit (Even the spices) • Sooooo, Here's the recipe 🎄🎅🏼❤️ • CHRISTMAS SUPERFOOD BLISS BALLS: • INGREDIENTS: • 1 cup @futurelifeza Zero Smartoats (You can use normal instant oats but I love the added benefits of using Futurelife) 1/4 cup cocoa 1/2 TBS cinnamon 1/2 TBS ginger 1/2 cup cashew nuts 1 cup pitted dates, soaked in boiling water for a few minutes 1/2 cup dried goji berries 1 TBS honey 1 tsp vanilla essence 1/2 cup coconut or 1/2 cup chopped pistachios (I whizzed mine up in my @nutribullet_sa for a few seconds and that did the trick) • METHOD: • - Add the Futurelife/oats, cashew nuts, cocoa, cinnamon and ginger to a food processor and blend until a smooth flour like consistency is formed. - Add the dates, honey and vanilla essence and blend until a dark sticky dough is formed. - Lastly, stir in the goji berries (You can blend them but I quite like the goji berry 'chunks') - Take a piece of the dough and roll into a ball. Roll this ball in either the coconut or the chopped pistachios. • Side note: It is often easier to wet your hands before rolling...this also helps the coconut or pistachios to stick to the ball • The final touch: Pop each bliss ball into a mini cupcake case and voila...how easy is that??!!☺️ • If you are saving this recipe, please do me a favour and leave your favourite emoji below ⬇️

DAY 3: • CHRISTMAS CHOCOLATE BARK ❤️🎄🎅🏼 • I absolutely love making my own chocolate and you'll find a few recipes and variations on this page or on my website (Link in bio) • With this recipe I tried my best to stick with Christmas colours but what you decide to sprinkle over the chocolate is entirely up to you ❤️ • Here it is... • INGREDIENTS: • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips- I chopped up some @canderelsouthafrica dark chocolate (About 3/4 of a large slab) but you can use whatever chocolate you prefer 1/3 cup cocoa 2 servings collagen- I recommend @beautygen_sa (OR you could add 1 serving whey protein of choice) 1/3 cup organic coconut oil 1 TBS honey A pinch of Himalayan salt 1/4 cup cranberries 2 TBS goji berries 2 TBS chia seeds 2 TBS chopped almonds 2 TBS pumpkin seeds A small sprinkle of coconut • METHOD: • - Spray a baking tray with some cooking spray. - Melt the chocolate chips/chopped chocolate, coconut oil and honey together. I suggest creating a Bain marie. -Add the cocoa, collagen and salt and then mix until smooth and silky. - Pour onto the prepared tray and sprinkle the remainder of the ingredients over the chocolate mixture. - Pop into the freezer to set for about 20 minutes. - Once the chocolate has hardened break into chunks and keep it stored in an airtight Tupperware in the fridge or freezer. 😘😘😘 • Serve and enjoy 😉 • I’ll be needing taste testers this weekend and from next week so please show my posts some love so you can be added to the list 😘

DAY 2 🎅🏼🎅🏼 • This recipe is something for the kiddies ☺️ • While I know I haven’t been blessed with any kids of my own, I do have nieces and a nephew and well, I work with kids for a living, sooooo I feel I am pretty experienced in being able to tell what kids will and will not eat 😜🙌🏼 • These are super duper simple, require no baking AND can be stored in the fridge for 3 weeks 😱 • FUDGY BROWNIE POPS: (gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free and unrefined sugar free) • INGREDIENTS: • 1 tin black beans, drained and rinsed 1/3 cup cocoa 1 scoop chocolate whey protein (If you don't want to add the protein you can just add more cocoa) 2 TBS peanut butter (tahini also works really well) 1 TBS honey 1 TBS vanilla essence A pinch of Himalayan salt • To coat: 1 cup dark chocolate chips- I used 70 % but a slab of sugar free chocolate would also work. Red and green sprinkles 6 red or green straws, cut into 18 small pieces • METHOD: • - Add all of the brownie ingredients to a food processor. - Blend for a minute or 2. The mixture shouldn't be sticky and gooey, but rather doughy (You should be able to roll into balls- if not add more cocoa/whey protein) - Melt the dark chocolate and then set aside to cool. - Whilst waiting for the chocolate to cool down, roll the dough into equal sized balls and pierce a piece of straw through the bottom of each. - Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to make sure that the whole ball is covered. - Place on a baking tray (I always spray the baking tray with some 'Spray and cook' before) and put some sprinkles on top of each brownie pop. - Once all of the brownie pops have been dipped and sprinkled then pop into the fridge for 30 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened ❤️ • Enjoy 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS RECIPES… • RECIPE 1️⃣ • CHRISTMAS TREE CHOCOLATE PROTEIN BROWNIES (gluten free, grain free, unrefined sugar free and dairy free) • This is a recipe you will want the kids in the family to get involved 🥰 • INGREDIENTS: 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed 2 eggs 1/3 cup cocoa 1 1/2 scoops chocolate whey protein- I’m obsessed with @sportrx_sa atm 2/3 cup @canderelsouthafrica xylitol 2 TBS @almondbreezesa unsweetened almond milk 1 TBS organic coconut oil 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp instant coffee 1/2 cup 70 % dark chocolate chips • METHOD: - Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray with tinfoil, shiny side UP. - Add all of the ingredients (except the chocolate chips) to a food processor and blend for 2 minutes. - Fold in the chocolate chips. - Pour the mixture into the prepared tin. - Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool properly before cutting. • ***Now in order to make Christmas trees you will need: • -Christmas straws (red or green), cut into 5 cm pieces). -1 small sugar free white chocolate (found at @dischem_foods @dischem_livingfit @dischem_pharmacies ) • -Cut your brownies into triangles. -Push a piece of straw into the bottom of each brownie. -Melt the white chocolate and drizzle over the brownies. • *optional: crush some sugar free candy canes or peppermints and use as 'decorations'. • Enjoy 😘😘😘 • (Side note: Excuse the quality of the picture…We will be remaking these over the weekend and I promise to share pics of those BUT this recipe is as too good not to share NOW 😉)
