Posted @withregram • @paolaakasplash 🖕🏻The final f**k cancer🖕🏻 This one is tricky, not because I didn’t know it was coming, but because how do you say goodbye 💔 It’s the only part of dying that I’ve really struggled with. I’m ok with, and am ready to die, but I’m not ready to leave the people I love. Incredibly, having cancer has taught me about love. It’s made me become vulnerable enough to allow people in to love me, which in turn has made me love them even more. It has taught me that you can fall in love with your friends and that it isn’t exclusively for partners. The intensity of love varies from person to person. But some of the most intense loves have been the shortest friendships. Having terminal cancer has a way of speeding up the process so that it can feel as though I’ve known a person for aeons, when in fact it could only be a few months. Cancer has also brought people back into my life who I’ve always loved, but lost contact, fell out with or divorced. None of which matters now, because, well it doesn’t when you admire, respect and love someone. I can’t go through everyone individually, but you know who you are. Thank-you for loving and taking care of me at my worst moments, even if that was just sending a stupid 🍆 or 🐶 meme. It was always perfect to me. I love and adore the sh*t out of you! Also, a huge thank-you to @rankinarchive, for lots of different reasons, but mostly for showing me myself in a way that I’ve never been able to see. After 53 years, I finally saw it, even if only for a moment… and I’m truly grateful for that, and him.
