; while we have been having more frequent breaks from the app, we’re still here. The friendship the Zeke and Luffy have developed is a bond I’ve been thankful to see. These two have been amazing together, ofc we continue to have stuff to work on, like all of us. I would be remiss to not continue to advocate for adopting, or fostering if you can. Luffy has been with us just about six months, SIX months. I absolutely love having Luff with us, I didn’t expect him to not have his forever home by now but I wouldn’t change it for the world. He is the sweetest soul I have ever met, the love he shows me and Zeke, as well as anyone that enters our home is just so pure. and once is forever home comes along, it’ll be the right one for him. Rescue groups continue to struggle to find these beautiful souls a forever home; or even a foster home to show them what love is all about and give them a chance to show their true self. Please, if you can. Foster. Give a life a chance, all they ask for is a chance to live and love. “waiting for the perfect time” does not exist.

Time has flown, and even though he has come leaps and bounds since coming home, rescue groups are having trouble finding homes for all dogs (any that isn’t a puppy) and even having to shut their doors and not able to accept new dogs. Twice this week alone I’ve had that conversation. Times are tough, and life is expensive. But please, if you can just open your home and heart to foster, it changes and saves lives.

; revisiting one of Zeke and my favourite places has been refreshing, and we’ve been able to introduce Luffy to them 😁 Since having Luffy with us, it’s been harder to coordinate adventures. Having two large dogs, and navigating them around crowds of humans and dogs, I’ve had to really had to be selective where we go and when to ensure I don’t overwhelm them. A little extra time exploring and we found this secluded little beach of our own in one of our favourite spots. Zeke has lead the way, but Luffy has been keen to test the waters (all pun intended)

; these two have found their form, watching them bond as well as setting boundaries with each other has been an absolute joy to see; and I am so so proud of them both. It’s hard as a human to not set expectations on our babies, which are always completely unrealistic for them to ever meet. Managing expectations and boundaries has been absolutely key for Ze and Luff to bond and learn to trust each other. I will constantly harp on about it and remind everyone. Fostering saves lives. Luffy has learned love, and what life is about. Zeke has benefited beyond words from Luffy, Ro and Abel. Each time he has adapted and really leaned into his role as big foster brother ☺️

; it’s been a week, by that. Probably the most challenging week since I’ve started fostering. We show the highlights, the ups but rarely the downs. Bear with me and let’s unpack what I mean. This week was a real learning curve for us. Zeke and Luffy really had some trouble setting boundaries, not respecting each others space which made for some tense moments. Enforcing those boundaries, as well as constantly reassuring these two was tough, and I haven’t even mentioned our walks. Luffy not having any structure and wanting free will to say hi to everyone, making a scene when not getting his way > in turn would trigger Zeke to be ultra reactive on whatever was troubling Luffy. Back to basics, and how it has helped. Seperate walks, incorporating commands for Luff and building his walking etiquette back up. Ze getting his space and alone time. While we still have lots work ahead of us, these last few days the boys have started to click. From in house manners, boundaries and space > walking together and learning to coexist. Luffy’s learnings and structure is coming along as this boy is readying for adoption ☺️
Another Wednesday walk completed. I was happy my hooman took me to the beach for some new smells. ; one life at a time Someone close to me said that to me the day Ro got adopted. It resonated. Fostering was the most fulfilling thing I have ever done (next to rescuing Ze) ☺️ I hope to run, or work with an animal sanctuary one day. Right now, I will foster, I will share and continue to advocate as much as I can for these beautiful souls that have nothing but love in their heart. I’ve was meaning to post this last week, now all of a sudden little Abel is here with me. He’s solidified everything within me that knows, I’m here to foster, I’m here to save as many animal lives as I can ❤️ Ze and Abel will meet later this week. I can’t wait for Zeke and on show this little man the ropes and help his confidence grow. Have a great weekend my friends.
