I'm almost ready to hit the button and get the first bass cabinets CNC'd! I've opted for dual ports over triple due to two reasons. First being the third port gets in the way of the internal bracing system. Second, based on the modelling, at max woofer excursion/travel, air movement within the two ports will reach 1/10th the speed of sound, which is the threshold for when chuffing will occur. In simple terms, at max power the dual ports in the bass cabinets won't chuff. 🤙 That aside, I'm still stuck on the colour profile, grey, blue, black, green or white... The room was developed in Midjourney, where a window provides warmth and light into the room. The CAD rendering uses the same window as the light source for consistent lighting and shadows. In reality, applying this finish would be hard to apply. My Bromo's I built in 2022 are still impressing and getting some regular use. SB Acoustics now have 4 new additions to their open source kits range along side the Bromo. I had a crazy 2023 and unfortunately did not get a chance for much workshop time or projects, definately time for another build and keen to try one of these new SB Acoustics additions! SB Acoustics now have thje Ara TX, Gema, Rinjani TX, and Sasandu TX in their open source kit range. I was considering a tower build but think I am drawn to the Gema, I have always liked the 70's 3 way style speakers. Will look into further and start digging through my timber stash and start getting some ideas. Plans and specs on their website if you are interested. I have found the plans thorough and easy to follow and have completed a couple builds from their plans so far, impressed with quality and performance. Probably going to have to start letting go of some previous builds to make room for these!
