Last weekend, @sdsu @sdsu_cmil students and faculty attended the 2017 Western Society of Naturalists meeting in Pasadena, CA. We were excited to share our research in the form of talks, posters, and networking with the west coast marine ecology community! Every year we leave feeling invigorated and proud to have showcased our work among an excellent group of people, and have lots of fun connecting with collaborators, alumni, science heroes, and fledgling scientists in the process. Yesterday Dr. Kathy Boyer from @sanfranciscostate gave an incredible talk entitled "Trophic surprises and positive interactions inform seagrass restoration in the San Francisco Bay". She was funded through @csucoast to be one of our MEBSA seminar speakers this semester. Thank you Dr. Boyer for inspiring and teaching those of us about restoration and the ecology/science behind restoration decisions. Next semester we will have another seminar speaker series @sdsu so be on the lookout!!

Over the summer the Edwards lab @sdsu worked with the Konar lab at university of Alaska Fairbanks to understand how kelp loss affects offshore habitats. Trawling in hundreds of meters of water they found relatively high shrimp diversity off one of the islands. How cool is that !?! π· @scottgabara
