We told you earlier this week that sources were claiming Jamie Foxx was in a relationship with a 21-year-old singer named Sela Vave. It was easy to believe the rumors because Foxx had just split from Katie Holmes and was spotted hanging out with Vave a lot the past few weeks.⁣ ⁣ But according to the man himself, we’re all just tripping. He jumped on Vave’s Instagram account to set the record straight.⁣ ⁣ Foxx says he has simply taken her under his wing. He is working as her mentor, just like he did for several other artists, including Nick Cannon and Ed Sheeran.⁣ ⁣ “I’m not no old n***a out here with no young folks. You know what I’m saying?” he explained in the video.⁣ ⁣ He continued by explaining the double standard in place…⁣ ⁣ "It’s a double standard when it comes to women—when it was the guys, everything is cool but when it was the women they try to make it something else but we are going to try to protect our own. And like I said, I spoke to that girl’s mom and she put her trust in me."⁣ ⁣ "So all of the unnecessary hate for the woman just because the guys are coming here [to record at Jamie’s studio], all of sudden they’re digging hard, they’re working hard—but then the girl does it and all of sudden she has an ulterior motive? Stop that shit."⁣ ⁣ Personally, I don’t think the double standard comes from the girl’s “ulterior motives,” I think it comes from guys being pervs. We see old dudes hitting on young girls all the time, especially in Hollywood. So yeah, we just assume (wrong or right) that if an old dude is spending time with some young chick, he’s probably banging her.⁣ ⁣ Thankfully, that’s not happening here. I’ve always had a lot of respect for Foxx, so it’s nice to see he’s not taking advantage of some aspiring artist. Instead, he’s trying to lift her up.⁣ ⁣ By the way, this is what Vave wrote on her Instagram…⁣ ⁣ "For the people who care… here is the TRUE story(swipe)… for everyone else you can keep talking and calling me a whore, slut, home wrecker, thot, gold digger, that I should die, and what ever else you want.
