Delicate Arch, Arches National Park, Utah. Ça n'était pas prévu que je reste là-haut pour prendre la Delicate Arch en photo avec les étoiles, c'est juste que je me suis retrouvé là, avec mon appareil photo, le trépied, et assez de couches de vêtements pour pouvoir tenir une bout de la nuit, loin de la chaleur du soleil, et, en fonction où on se trouve dans le cratère de la Delicate Arch : beaucoup de vent. Je me suis mis dans un coin, et j'ai attendu que le soleil disparaisse pour de bon derrière les montagnes, et laisse la place aux étoiles. Petit imprévu de ma part : je n'avais pas pensé à prendre ma frontale avec moi. Je me suis éclairé tant bien que mal avec mes téléphones pour faire mes réglages, et puis, entre deux expositions longues, je me suis juste allongé sur le dos, et j'ai contemplé moi aussi, ce spectacle incroyable. Même si la photo est pixelisé de fou à cause de la redimension instagram ainsi que du fait que mon boitier commence à s'essoufler, je suis content de vous partager ça. Le retour de la marche sans lumière, pour ceux qui connaisse le trail de Delicate Arch, était quelque peu un challenge, mais en prenant le temps, en suivant mon mouvement, je suis rentré de nuit sans encombre pour rejoindre TYV, lui aussi tout seul au milieu de la nuit sur le parking de la marche. My best tips for hiking Delicate Arch👇🏻 I’ve done this hike twice now, once for sunrise and once in the afternoon, so here’s what I think you should know: Delicate Arch is a 52 ft tall, 100% natural rock formation located in Arches National Park. It’s basically the logo for Utah since you’ll find it on the license plates and most of the souvenirs. The trail is approximately 3.2 miles round trip with 629 ft elevation gain. I suggest wearing hiking shoes & bringing lots of water. If you’re visiting in the summer, don’t come in the heat of the day because there’s practically no shade on this trail. I think the best time for this hike is sunrise because you can bypass the Arches NP reservation system by arriving before the park officially opens, it’s not too crowded, and the lighting is pretty good. Lots of people bring food and have a snack once they reach the top. Spring & fall are the best times to visit for the best weather. I’m not sure why you’d want to, but climbing the arch is illegal - so don’t even think about it! And don’t miss the secret viewpoint just before you turn the corner to reach Delicate Arch! It’s called the Twisted Donut (photo 9), and it’s like a little window to the Arch. Even if it’s crowded, I’ve given you lots of great angles to get creative with your pics here. Don’t hike in a dress! I did the first time and it was miserable haha, so the second time I just put it in my bag and threw it over my clothes when I got to the top. Save for your trip to Utah! 🤗

From a moment after I had used the Olympus XA while in Arches. This is actually how I sometimes collect the timestamps for the photos I take on film. I'll snap a picture with my phone of the camera around the area I took the still. This way, after I get them developed and scanned, I'll input the date, time, and location onto that file. I also have a notebook but sometimes I can't always bring it out and write down those notes. And my notes app on my phone is a bit too cluttered since I can't organize it with folders. Final Notes from the Road: Our last few days were spent in breathtaking landscapes of Moab, where we braved the iconic Shafer Trail, descending 1500 feet from a mesa top to the Colorado River below. Navigating a 10,000lb vehicle on steep loose sandstone tested our relationship, but the experience was truly epic. Our secluded view at the bottom rivaled Horseshoe Bend, sans the crowds and guard rails. Continuing our adventure, we discovered a campsite near Moab, perfect for rockhounding. We awoke early and hiked through Arches National Park and as the crowds started to arrive we finished our hike and set off towards SLC. We bid farewell to our road trip with a tranquil night in Manti-La Sal National Forest, where the lingering snow atop the peaks hinted at spring’s imminent arrival. Despite a chilly shower at sunset, the rising full moon warmed our spirits. Dropping Kenzie off in SLC marked the end of our roadtrip, as she embarked on her return to upstate New York, while I continued to Jackson, Wyoming, with a detour to Lava Hot Springs. As I transition into guiding for the 2024 season in Grand Teton and Yellowstone, this marks the end of our road trip.
