Like so many of our makers, Susannah has turned her hobby into a wonderful small business, basing her business values on kindness, friendship, and communities supporting each other. The silver that Susannah works with is 100% recycled, rather than being freshly mined, with the inspiration for her work coming from the metal itself - the shapes and textures guiding the finished one-off pieces. AURORA // I’m super jelous to have discovered basically the whole of the uk saw the northern lights last night except me. This year's Makers Night welcomes back Rachel from @upperglassnottingham, with upcycled vintage, antique, collectable and pre-loved glass items with one-off designs for the home - decorative ornaments, candle holders, trinket dishes, lamps, jewellery dishes, cake stands, display dishes and more. Using vintage jewellery, beads and crystals to decorate, and making smaller decorative items including hanging glass and beaded decorations, bag charms and keyrings, Rachel has taken her original work to Craft & Flea, Newstead Abbey, Strelley Hall and several other events in the region, but this will only be her second time here in Rudd. First up, we're dead pleased to welcome Sally from @sno_ceramic back to Ruddington, having only been with us a couple of times before (last March, and last year's Makers Night). Sally makes all her work in her garden studio in Sherwood Forest by wheel or by hand, much of her highly decorative items in small batches or as one-offs, including homewares, giftware, and jewellery. ART MASTER CLASS // I was super lucky to work with a small group of children from @sneintonprimary yesterday for one of their art master class sessions. Look at the cute little bugs they made! One was particularly sassy (the clay bug, not the child) and had ‘a wig and eyelashes’. Very important in the animal kingdom. 😍

Look what I made the other day when I was being a guinea pig for @katherinemaryhill when she held a practice workshop on 'how to create an appliquéd cushion'. It was such a lovely day spent in wonderful company, chatting about everything and anything, drinking lots of coffee and eating delicious cake. We created our lovely ottter cushion covers using sewing machines and hand stitching. The hardest bit of the day was choosing our fabrics from the most mouth watering and eye-popping stash of vintage and retro fabrics! LAST DAY OF THROWING // It was the last day of my beginners throwing course at @nottinghamceramicschool with the mighty @bendoddceramics BUT it’s only the start of my throwing journey. My hands are literally itching to try some more. Today was glazing day and it was so nice to find myself in a sweet shop of stoneware glazes to try. I fire my beetles at a far lower temperature so it was a treat to try out some new glazes with no idea of how they will look or fire. They first picture is the glazed pots- you can see, there’s no clues at this point- the kiln gods are in charge here. I’m so excited. If you’ve ever fancied doing a beginners pottery course, the ones at @nottinghamceramicschool are fantastic, I’ve absolutely loved my time here and it’s such a lovely friendly studio. Take this as your sign, and go ahead and book one! 🧞♀️🧞🧞♂️

EGG BOX HOARDER // I have a thing about egg boxes! Sometimes I’ll buy eggs, be they chocolate or chicken just to get the box. We go to France a lot at Easter for Pâques and I love to see how creative the French are with their Easter wrapping and decor. I got a lot of these little egg boxes from France a few years ago and I’ve saved them in my Easter box. They are also super sustainable packaging, and fun to reuse. Good for filling with ceramic insects too it seems 🐇🎀✨
