De meest letterlijke #eurotrashweek post van deze week gaat deze geweldige Simca Aronde Ranch van 1957 zijn die in de tuin van een (Amerikaans) autoliefhebber staat. De Simca is zijn enige Europese trots en is het decor van een weelderige tuin vol groen. Onlangs verscheen deze Aronde nog in een reportage op @rtvnoord en dat bracht @de_nederlandse_autos op het idee een mooi fietsritje naar deze #trashcar te maken. Nu mag hij zijn nadagen slijten als kunstwerk in een tuin in het welvarende Glimmen (onder de rook van Haren). Zie ook de pop achter het stuur! Dernière voiture française à moteur arrière, si l'on excepte la Renault Twingo d'aujourd'hui, la Simca 1000 sera aussi la dernière Simca à bénéficier de la collaboration avec Fiat puisqu'elle est techniquement très proche de la Fiat 850 et récupère la suspension de la 600. Très carrée, elle m'a toujours fait penser à la voiture que tous les enfants dessinent pour représenter une automobile, elle est quand même très mignonne, avec ces quelques plis de tôle évoquant une Chevrolet corvair en réduction. Petite voiture, on ne parle pas encore de citadine, 4 portes à 4 places, elle apparaît en 1961 équipée d'un moteur de 944 cm3 et 34 ch qui lui permettent d'atteindre les 120 km/h . Elle évoluera tout au long de sa longue carrière, jusqu'en 1978. On retiendra forcément ses versions sportives, les Rallye 1,2 &3, et la très élégante version coupé dessinée par Bertone. Les versions plus accessibles méritent aussi l'attention pour cette puce de 3,79 m de long et 1,48 m de large. La version du jour doit dater d'après 1969, avec ses phares avant qui ont grossi par rapport aux premières, ses feux arrières carrés et non plus ronds, mais d'avant 1975 qui ont reçu un tableau de bord à cadrans ronds en lieu et place de ce tableau de bord rectiligne. Pour la sécurité et l'agrément, elle a aussi reçu une direction à crémaillère ce qui ne l'empêche pas d'avoir une tenue de route nécessitant une certaine attention surtout en cas de météo capricieuse. I remember a rainy autumn day. Very gloomy and wet, but I had an idea I really wanted to sketch in open air. I did it, but as always I found so many other interesting things, like Fiat 500, Simca 1000 and Porsche 928 in the street. On the way home I stopped at café and drew some cars from photos I took. At @labracfirenze to be exact, one of the coolest and most inspiring cafés I know! This Easter I scanned the drawing and because I often cultivate a way of colouring stuff using a mouse instead of a tablet I was doing that while traveling. 1954 Ford Comète Monte-Carlo In the 50s, Ford had different subsidiaries in Europe, which created their own cars. The Ford Comète was one of them, it was created by Ford SAF (french Ford) and built in France from 1951 to 1954, with the help of Facel (known for the Facel Vega). The Monte-Carlo was the performance oriented version of the Comète, it was introduced in 1954. Less than 700 were made and less than 40 apparently still exist now. It had a 3.9L V8 engine, normally fitted on Ford trucks. It had 105hp and it was paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Ford SAF was later bought by Simca, who agreed with Facel to keep producing the Comète Monte-Carlo until 1955, a year later. Vandaag de kentekenkeuring bjj de RDW in Almelo en daar wordt na 49 jaar de papieren, Franse, carte grise verruild voor een plastic kaartje met een Hollands kenteken. De Simca is van 1975 dus hij zal, gelukkig, 2 letters in het midden krijgen net als dat zo was bij een origineel NL kenteken van dat jaar. De serie is inmiddels bij -YE- dus alleen de cijfers blijven nog een paar dagen een verrassing. Voor het eerst in ieder geval 8 jaren gaat de Simca weer door de regen. Het is noodweer op weg naar het noord-oosten. Dat wordt weer weken binnen drogen voor het vervolg van de anti-roest behandeling. De keuring is ern formaliteit, de keurmeester kan het VIN-nummer goed lezen dus zijn we 20 minuten later alweer op de terugweg. Het startprobleem waar de auto mee aan gekocht is hebben we kunnen verhelpen. Bij het afstellen van ontsteking en carburateur hebben we constant remmenreiniger nodig om weer te kunnen starten en blijft daarna de motor gewoon lopen terwijl we met de hand de luchtinlaat helemaal afsluiten. Dat klopt niet : ergens anders komt er nog lucht binnen. Na ff zoeken blijkt de bovenplaat van de carburateur ondersteboven te zitten, hoe dan?! Nu start de Simca als een tierelier, ook na een paar dagen stilstand. Al moet het oude luchtfilterelement weer in het huis. Het nieuwe is 3mm te hoog en nu sluit het deksel niet. Dat had ik in het clubmagazijn niet opgemerkt. Nu wachten op het kenteken en verder met de aandachtspunten voor de enige APK die de tourist nog zal krijgen. Weer terug in de werkplaats blijkt dat het openmaken van de afwateringsgaten in de paravan waterbak niet heeft geholpen, tenminste, het dashboardvak aan passagierszijde is weer een natte bedoening. Waarschijnlijk moet ik het toch zoeken in het voorruitrubber dat in de hoek water door lijkt te laten, dat wordt kitten.
