Here is my contribution to the "Sips & Spirits" and "Solstice" prompts of the #ThistleWinter2024 art challenge. Like last time, I combined the last two prompts together. ✨️This art also falls under the prompt "A Starry Night" from the #Mimis2024PromptList art challenge! 💝 Lil ghostie is witnessing a meteor shower. (Don't think that's a solstice thing, though! 🤭) Thank you to the hosts of the Thistle Winter 2024 challenge, @theghostegg (who made the prompt list artwork on the second slide), @littleghostelli , @melosprout , @juliek.art and @siseliestudio . I really enjoyed this challenge with how it pushed my creativity, and I'm quite pleased with the art that came out of it. I love seeing everyone's interpretations on the prompts as well. Lil story about this character: I invented them during October 2023 in a comic on how they obtained that cow print sheet! Unfortunately, the comic is still firmly a WIP as it is 2 out of 8 frames complete. I also was experimenting with the art style (especially with how I shaded), and while I love it, it's killing me. 🫠 Maybe I'll get it done by next Halloween! I still love the story and the character. Here is my entry of the "Forest Festival" and "Winter Wanderer(s)" prompts of the #ThistleWinter2024 challenge! It is hosted by five people. This prompt list was created by @theghostegg and the other hosts (who have their own prompt list for this challenge in their own drawing styles) are @littleghostelli @melosprout @juliek.art and @siseliestudio So, if you're wondering why I combined the two (when they are obviously two separate prompts for two different weeks), it's because I discovered this challenge on January 5th (I think) and I am not a fast artist, so I smashed the two together to give myself more time! 😁👍 I really enjoyed this! ✨️Ranidae's Wizard Coat!✨️ Here is my last big digital art piece for the year! This is one of my OCs, who is a part of my Animal-Plant/Blob Universe (along with Lucy and Noor). He is trying on his new favorite coat (which reminds him of a Wizard's coat and was the driving force behind owning it). Gotta love an openly loving Fantasy nerd. 💜 Here is a little sneak peek into Ranidae's living space. Is this a bedroom wall? A living room wall? Who knows. I decided to continue with that theme. Thanks, Zed! 😘 This was also the first time I added blush. Too cute! 💕 I also dated this piece. I think I'm going to try doing that from now on. OH! I did make a little art compilation review video. I only had the idea of making the video halfway through the artwork which is why Rani was already completely drawn and the layers merged together. Sometimes it's time to branch out and do something completly new. Oggi posto alcune tavole in sequenza tratte dal mio fumetto "Prigionieri", pubblicato, assieme ad altre fantastiche storie a fumetti, sull’antologia "In Casa" per @ultra_edizioni a cura della @scuolaromanadeifumetti (link in Bio). L'incipit vede un guerriero, un’elfa, uno scheletro redivivo e un mago risvegliarsi in una specie di cripta senza ricordare come e perché siano finiti lì. Sembra l’inizio di una barzelletta declinata al fantasy ma scoprirete che c'è ben poco da ridere visto il destino che li aspetta, quando il mago ricorderà a tutti che non bisogna abusare di Madre Natura. Ma le cose stanno davvero così o qualche entità superiore si sta prendendo gioco di loro? Echi ecologisti, guerra, pandemia, in un turbiniò di orrore, metafora del mondo moderno, in cui i nostri eroi si troveranno loro malgrado coinvolti. Questo lavoro risale al 2020, in piena pandemia ed è a tutti gli effetti la prima storia a fumetti che scrissi. I hurt someone today by putting my foot in my mouth. I knew the minute I said the word, it was the wrong one to use. I truly had no intention of hurting them. Intent or not, I messed up. I've apologized, and we've smoothed it out. Regardless, I intend to continue to self-reflect and improve. I can't promise to never stick my foot in my mouth again, but I'm working on preventing this specific situation with this specific person to not repeat and to self-reflect on how this word slipped out of my mouth, especially when I instantly regretted it. In the moments between, I've had some time to sit with my complex emotions. I normally don't draw the action nor the precise emotions, but I'm glad that I did it with this piece. I love how it came out. This piece may always have some bittersweet tinges to it, but it'll also be an excellent reminder to be careful with my words. As I told snailclowns in the comment section (he replied the moment I posted 💝), I had a solid vision for this piece and even took the reference photo myself to ensure it came out how I wanted. I'm very happy with it. I didn't look up the quote from anywhere and wrote it out myself (but, of course, I have read many things over the years and this could have tumbled out from anywhere, but I cannot give credit to anyone but myself since I sat down and wrote this alone). This was quite a vulnerable piece for me. La storia è un what-if: Cosa accadrebbe se davvero comparisse un gigantesco monolito nero, segno di un'intelligenza aliena, in orbita attorno a Giove, come nell'incipit di 2010: Odissea Due di Arthur C. Clarke (poi trasposto al cinema in 2010: L'Anno del Contatto di Peter Hyams)? La recente indagine del Congresso USA sugli avvistamenti #ufo ha portato di nuovo alla ribalta la questione sull’esistenza di #alieni o meno. Esistono diverse ipotesi sul perché non li abbiamo ancora incontrati. Un mese fa, il 13 giugno, moriva Cormac McCarthy, ritenuto uno dei più grandi scrittori statunitensi di questo secolo eppure avulso alle cronache mondane e al mondo letterario che non amava frequentare. Di lui ho letto solo "The Road" e mi è piaciuto. Dal libro fu tratto un film nel 2009 con protagonista uno scheletrico Viggo Mortensen: mostrava una diversa prospettiva, più intimista, sulla fine del mondo. Niente zombi, invasioni aliene, giudizi divini o trovate fantasiose di alcun tipo (che invece troverete nell’antologia #10storiesullafinedelmondo del Collettivo @co2_comics ). Solo la nuda, cruda realtà della sopravvivenza in un mondo morente, aggrappati a un filo di speranza sempre più esile. Un film che andrebbe visto. Tuttavia a me resterà impresso più quel magnifico #villain di Anton Chigurh che lo scrittore ci ha regalato con il suo romanzo "Non è un Paese per Vecchi". Magistralmente interpretato da Javier Bardem nella trasposizione cinematografica dei fratelli Coen, Chigurh è un killer freddo, controllato, pieno di risorse, a cominciare dalle sue improbabili armi. Resistente al dolore e capace di compiere incredibili violenze, è un omicida che agisce e si percepisce come un inarrestabile esecutore del Fato. Ed è proprio in base a questa consapevolezza che usa una moneta come segno divino di ciò che è destinato alle sue vittime, a cui nemmeno lui può opporsi. In questo suo approccio filosofico all’omicidio la sua più grande originalità, che si manifesta soprattutto nella memorabile scena alla stazione di servizio. Con questa ministriscia di due vignette in uno stile alla #mikemignola mi è piaciuto giocare con Chigurh, anche se a lui non sarebbe piaciuto affatto. My shop link is in my bio! 💚 ------ I've been so in love with these characters that I decided that I HAD to shove my new Mushroom and Frog loves (from their DTIYS challenge artwork) into my Blob Universe as well to make a bestie trio with Lucy. I've decided on a name and pronouns for my Mushroom OC (@froggiebums [the DTIYS creater] gave me full permission to consider these my OCs!) so their name is Noor and their pronouns are They/Them. 🐸 is still a WIP (edit: check bottom of caption!). I highly recommend checking out froggiebum's DTIYS challenges. They have a few and I found the one I did very fun. (The one I did is posted on my account, and it is the previous post to this one.) The Blob "species" were originally created by @moriahelizabethofficial (or "Moriah Elizabeth" on YT), who has her own array of Blob characters. Lucy (the blue character) was created by my inspiration of Moriah's blob characters, as well as the artist herself. I wanted to give proper credit where credit is due, but all these are my own characters and going forward I'm making my own "Blob Universe" with my own storyline and characters (outside and away from Moriah's work). 💛 Lucy has her own introduction to this account in a previous digital art post. Full disclosure: I had to do some photo editing to get the colors from being so washed out from my original artwork (saved on the Sketchbook app). It's still not the right colors, but it's close enough. :/ Does anyone know why this happens? My other Mushroom + Frog drawing seemed a little washed out, too, but I wasn't sure. Saving from the app is definitely washing the colors out. Any advice would be appreciated! Edit (11/28/2023): I think I've decided on a name for my 🐸 Blob!
