This is a new community partnership that we are really excited about. A very big welcome aboard to the South Belgrave senior football club. Currently in Division 1 in the EFNL, the Saints finished on top of the ladder in 2023, being undefeated in the home & away season for the second time in three full seasons since 2019. The Saints lost just once in their past 26 starts – but in an all-too-familiar tale in footy, the sole blemish of their season last year came on the biggest stage of all, the grand final. The team at Rise Health Group are already looking forward to the grand final rematch: Mitcham vs. South Belgrave – Round 1, April 6 at Walker Park "There’ll be plenty of feeling in this one following the Tigers’ stunning upset of the unbeaten Saints in the 2023 decider, with just five points separating the teams at the final siren. South Belgrave won two of its three matches against Mitcham last season, by 22 and nine points respectively". Rise Health Group Physiotherapist's Lachie Toll and Scott Pawsey will be working with the boys, they will be supporting the players during the season on a Tuesday & Thursday night at training, and Saturday for match day. This will give players the opportunity to get injuries assessed and managed which can help shorten the recovery time after an injury. At around 2:15pm today ( #boxingday2023), a #severethunderstorm (warned for #damagingwinds, #heavyrain and #flashflooding) rolled into #BelgraveSouth from the northeast. This #thunderstorm was part of a broader #squallline (also locally severe-warned for #largehail) which impacted a large portion of Central and Eastern #Victoria, including metropolitan #Melbourne. Images captured between 2pm and 2:15pm of the impending #storm, which featured a fast-moving and very dark #shelfcloud! Remarkably there was hardly any wind with it as it swept overhead, only some #whalemouthclouds. The storm lasted about 20 minutes, bringing a roughly 5-degree drop in temperature (from about 22C to around 17C) plus some heavy rain (about 6mm), but only one rumble of #thunder. An early Christmas present 🎁 sort of… Just after 6pm yesterday ( #christmaseve2023), a fairly small and localised but angry and potentially dangerous #severethunderstorm (warned for #heavyrain and #flashflooding) came rumbling into the #dandenongranges from the Yarra Valley. The #storm developed around 5:45pm, with the first rumble of #thunder being heard roughly 10 minutes later. I dashed to the #belgravesouthrecreationreserve just after 6:10pm and hung around for about 20 minutes, getting footage of the gathering darkness. The most interesting structural feature of the incoming storm was a developing #shelfcloud! The thunder was rumbling on average about once every 30 seconds or so, and I saw a few flashes of #lightning (including one or two CGs); the #rain started falling just after 6:20pm, and it was quite blustery with strong, gusty southeasterly winds feeding into the storm! The storm arrived just after 6:30pm, but it quickly weakened and the rain stopped around an hour later. NEVER EVER underestimate just how quickly a #thunderstorm can develop and how dangerous it can become, especially when you’re caught out in the open as I was! I nearly got struck by #lightning not once but TWICE!!! 😱⚡️⚡️ I was out walking around #BelgraveSouth and #BelgraveHeights between 10:30am and 12:30pm today (Saturday 25th of #November2023). Conditions in #Melbourne were literally screaming #dangerousweather, with the air overloaded with heat and humidity, wind shear going nuts, and convection exploding everywhere! 😃 I noted some juicy #storm action flaring off to my northeast (between about Marysville and Lake Eildon), and out in Gippsland. Around 12:20pm I was walking around the #belgravesouthrecreationreserve, and noticed how very dark the sky was becoming. A sprinkle of #rain started to fall, then I heard a rumble of #thunder. ⛈️ Then at about 12:25pm a blinding flash of light occurred, followed seconds later by a defeating crack!!! I ran for cover, with my heart racing at 100mph; minutes later, a second dangerous bolt of lightning struck!!! 😬 🏃♂️ ⚡️ Both strikes occurred down near Cardinia Reservoir. Not the best, but better than nothing! Finally I’ve managed to catch some #thunderstorm action on camera!! 😃⛈️ A ferocious #coldfront burst across #Victoria, #Australia today (Thursday 12th of #October2023), preceded by warm to hot, blustery, locally gale-force northerly winds, and accompanied by a band of #heavyrain with local thunderstorms. In the wake of the front passage, strong westerly/southwesterly winds delivered cold, unstable polar air from Antarctica. The resulting #coldoutbreak brought heavy showers and thunderstorms with local hail, along with alpine snow and sleet. These 10 images were snapped in #BelgraveSouth as two large, angry and dark-looking thunderstorm cells sideswiped the area, mainly impacting other parts of metropolitan #Melbourne including the #DandenongRanges. First two images were snapped between 4-4:15pm as the first #storm brushed by to my north/northwest. I heard one crack of #thunder but didn’t see any #lightning amongst the darkness. Only a sprinkling of rain too, and no hail. Second storm swept by after 5:30pm (remaining 8 pics), bringing heavier rainfall. No thunder, lightning or hail experienced. Judging by the weather forecast it looks likely to be our last warm day for a while. The Battle of the Air Masses is about to begin! A deep low pressure system is entering Southeastern #Australia, with an attendant low pressure trough and accompanying upper-level disturbance set to move across #Victoria tomorrow (Good Friday). A northerly airflow will feed warm, moist, unstable winds into the system, leading to heavy showers and thunderstorms. The first showers arrived in the metropolitan area earlier this evening. Aided by cold air aloft and strong wind shear, there is the risk of an outbreak of severe thunderstorms erupting through the Eastern States tomorrow, possibly even dangerous supercells, with damaging/destructive winds, large/giant hail, heavy rainfall with flooding, and/or even tornadoes possible! A flood watch is already in effect for parts of Melbourne, with rainfall totals in a number of catchments of 20-40mm but locally as high as 70mm. Stay alert for severe weather and flooding everyone, especially if you’re travelling for the Easter weekend! Come Easter Saturday a massive Antarctic cold front will burst across Victoria, with Melbourne likely seeing its coldest Easter Sunday in decades, with a top of around 15 degrees Celsius expected! And the grand finale! The potentially dangerous #supercellthunderstorm which developed near Geelong and then swept across #Melbourne yesterday evening! First image shows the #cumulonimbus at approx 6:20pm. Second image shows the base of the #severethunderstorm about 20 minutes later. Third image is of the #storm as it was still a long way off at about 5:10pm. I had been watching this vicious storm cell (warned not only for #heavyrain and #flashflooding but also for #destructivewinds and #gianthail, plus the risk of #tornadoes) very closely. I dodged a repeat of the destructive March 6th 2010 hailstorm!! 😱😬 The storm weakened a fair bit, and the #mesocyclone and most dangerous core of the cell passed just far enough to the north of my location to be of no real serious threat to my safety. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to get any great photos of the absolutely insane #wallcloud - the best I’ve seen since November 9th 2011! By the time the wall cloud moved into the #dandenongranges area the storm was far too close for comfort, and I didn’t want to put myself or my car at risk of dangerous weather conditions such as #lightning strikes or huge hailstones! 😬😬 Still, it was great fun! One MASSIVE beast of a #supercellthunderstorm raging violently over the Yarra Valley late this arvo! 😱😃⛈ This huge #severethunderstorm cell (warned for #damagingwinds, #largehail, #heavyrain and #flashflooding) sprung to life just after 4pm and grew quickly in size and intensity, hanging over the region to my north for a good hour-and-a-half or so! The best and most insane #shelfcloud I’ve ever witnessed preparing to burst upon #belgravesouth just after 5pm, courtesy of the #severethunderstorm (warned for #damagingwinds, #largehail, #heavyrain and #flashflooding) that slammed head-on into #Melbourne today! 😃⚡️ Yesterday’s #storm action largely missed the area unfortunately (only a few bursts of wind and rain, plus frequent #thunder and #lightning for several hours), but today more than made up for yesterday’s failure! The thunder and lightning started occurring in the #stormcloud right above my head only about 10 minutes prior to the #squallline hitting, with the darkening sky turning a sickening turquoise green - bringing back memories of the huge hail back in March 2010 (photos do no justice)!! 😰😱😨 The #gustfront swept overhead at 5:09pm, plunging the sky into near-total darkness and unleashing ferocious, potentially dangerous #galeforcewinds. Earlier in the year I shared how excited I was to be playing my first year of footy... And here we are below, team photo before our grand final on Sunday 💪💪 We lost the game, and as shattered as we were (and still are 😥), I'm super grateful to have shared this journey with the best bunch of girls and club, and we hold our heads high 🙌 It wasn't without sacrifice, hard work and the coldest weather imaginable, but it was sooo much fun!! It's been the best reminder to take chances, say yes more often and step out of the comfort zone. It's so important to put energy into something just for you (outside of work and family)... you never know where it may lead, the friends you will gain and the memories you will make 💞 Do stuff that makes you happy more often. These pics were taken at the same location #belgravesouthrecreationreserve yesterday arvo, but about 20 minutes apart (first image at roughly 4:10pm, second and third images at approximately 4:30pm). A large area of #heavyshowers and #thunderstorms was approaching #Belgravesouth from the northwest, thanks to a strong #coldfront that was closing in on #Melbourne, #Victoria, #Australia. It was only #17celsius at this point in time btw.
