The go-for-broke drive garnered the team a World Record in the Guinness Book of Records plus nine bullet holes from an ambush in Kenya. 😱 We are so honoured to welcome Garry Sowerby and his trio of record-setting vehicles, together for the first time at home here in Nova Scotia, at Steele Wheels Motor Museum! At the exhibit, besides the Suburban, affectionately called Lucy Panzer, you’ll meet Red Cloud, the around-the-world Halifax-built Volvo 245 DL in which Sowerby and Langley set a world record for fastest circumnavigation of the world by car in 1980 (and landed on the cover of the 1984 Edition of the Guinness Book!), plus the 1988 GMC Sierra in which Sowerby and adventure writer, Tim Cahill, blasted up the Pan-American Highway from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina to the northernmost point of the Americas, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. “This is the first time all three vehicles have been displayed together since their five-year residency many years ago at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
