One week ago, I had an incident causing a huge backfire on the #FutureGTForty which exploded the custom intake plenum. For some reason the Burst Plate stayed in tact. It sounded like a bomb going off and my ears were ringing for two days. I thought my SEMA journey was done as this is a custom piece. Thanks to Mike at Hillbank, FedEx and V's Performance, one week later we are loading the car for SEMA. The team at V's Performance not only remade the Intake, they re-engineered it as well and tested all the Fuel Injectors to make sure everything was good. Mike re-routed some fuel Lines for some better efficiencies and I was able to drive it from the shop to the house on Sunday, and back in to the shop today to be loaded for SEMA and the Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car Invitational! Thank you to Angel's Moving Autos and Superformance for getting the Future Forty to and from SEMA for me and thank you to MIke, Vlado and Pablo for getting the car back in order in time for testing and transport. The #FutureGTForty is returning to SEMA!!! The car debuted at SEMA in 2018 in the Magnaflow booth and was unveiled by MotorTrend's Cristy Lee. Follow SEMA 2018 and about 3,000 street miles, the engine was pulled in June 2019 and built as originally intended by the team at RPG Racing Engines in Fresno, California. Between COVID and an avalanche of work, it took quite some time to get the car back together along with some really nice upgrades and improvements by the team at V's Performance. Throw in a move across the country and Future Forty 2.0 finally made its track debut in style at the Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car event at Daytona International Speedway! We were fortunate enough to receive an invite to the Season Finale Invitational in Las Vegas during SEMA!!! So grateful to all the OG sponsors on the car, Vlado and the talented team at V's Performance, and of course Marissa who has been more supportive of this than anyone could hope for. What an epic 24 hours this week for a "Day Trip" to California! Flight left Ft. Lauderdale Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM (Marissa dropped me at the airport at 6:30 AM), landed at LAX around 10:45 AM Pacific. Shuttled over to get my "Rental Stang" for the day and headed over to V's Performance in Orange, CA. Got to check over and sign off on all the incredible work done by the legends at V's Performance - so cool to get to drive this baby in its finished form!!! Then Vlado and Rick helped me trailer it down to Lanzini's in Huntington Beach where Mitch and Ivan are going to love on it a bit. While at Lanzini's, got to spend some time with Chip and also say hi to his son Brock and get a tour of all the cool stuff he is working on which was a great bonus! Then got to zip over to one of my FAVORITE Mexican restaurants - Don Ramon's in Huntington Beach (haven't found quality Mexican food in Florida yet) which was AMAZING!!! Then it was back to LAX to drop off the rental and check in for my Red Eye back to Florida. Flight was a bit delayed but landed back in Ft. Lauderdale at 7:00 AM Eastern Time. A bit exhausting, but worth EVERY minute!!! A HUGE thank you to V's Performance, Lanzini Body Works, and also to Chip for a great visit!!! It's a #TBT Showroom Pick of the Day going back to SEMA 2018 and 2022 with the #FutureGTForty!!! When the car debuted in 2017 in Magnaflow's Booth, one of the highlights for me was having @andrettimario ask to sit in my car and getting to spend time with him talking about the build. Once his publicist pulled him away, I quickly called my wife Marissa to tell her what had happened. Her first question was, "Did you get him to sign the car?" My heart sank. I was so overcome with excitement about meeting Mario that it never even occurred to me to get him to sign the car. Fast forward to 2022 and the Future 40 is ready to move out to Florida with me to be enjoyed as it was originally intended after 3 years of engine work and other engineering on the car by RPG Racing Engines and the team at V's Performance. I knew Mario was going to be back in Magnaflow's booth signing, so I was first in line with the Fuse Panel Cover from the Dash of my car and his signature is now where it should be. The Cover will be reunited with the rest of the car once it arrives here in Florida, hopefully in a few weeks. Time Warp!! Showing at 30 year old build at Good Guys Del Mar. Steel Horse was built by my friends dad in 1990 back east. In 1994 he moved to California and I showed my yellow Silverado against him.
