Well I am most irked at myself this morning. Last night I was trying to pre-plan an outfit for this evening. When a morning doing housework in your pjs turns into an entire pyjama day. Basically, Paul told me that today was going to have the worst weather of the weekend. So I told the kids that they could have a pyjama day on Monday and I would do the housework. The weather is not as forecast but I am not going to argue with them when it’s all they have wanted to do this weekend. So, I did do the housework. Now I don’t know if it is was @erica_davies boilersuit inspo which inspired this look, or the fact that operation decorate is well underway, but I had super fun putting this together this morning. This is a vintage boiler suit which I have had in my wardrobe now for a few years. I have styled it differently several times but this is my fave I think with the cute green dolly shoes. While I was looking for the necklace to tie it altogether (the round @perlacocodesigns one) I clocked this bead one which is also perfect for the colour scheme. Ok. So I didn’t selfie earlier for two reasons. 1. First OOTD was for watching football and dog walk. I had a Ms Trunchbull hair bun and no make up. 2. I was in such a rush that I didn’t get a minute. It was pretty much this without the accessories because I was going dress hunting. Anyways, today I headed to the high street with the only person I know who will willingly wait outside changing rooms for me. Actually, who will willingly come shopping with me when I have to get something specific (mum will tell you I always have an idea in my head that doesn’t exist). Anyways, I was disappointed by the choices and did a lot of trying on. The one I eventually went for is a one shoulder number. For many years now I have accepted that one shoulder doesn’t suit me. This is based on a photo of me wearing an unflattering one shoulder dress when I was two dress sizes bigger. My friend pretty much said WTAF as I chastised my own body in this dress. She convinced me that I had to get the voice out of my head. So because I loved everything else about it I bought it. I bought shoes to go with it and I am excited to style it up (and fake tan) and show you all the final look. I am going to take a back up outfit with me in case I don’t love it and then it will get returned. If I love it, I will restyle it for a friend’s wedding in the summer. What a lengthy caption. Strictly speaking I was going to accessorise this outfit with chartreuse. But for a shirt which is so loose it doesn’t go near my pits, I have to wash it every time I wear it as I get make up on the collar. I don’t like incessantly washing clothes so I have put a silk scarf on to catch the make up (another lazy girl hack). I don’t have a chartreuse one so went with orange as a nice contrast. Slouching is what Sundays were made for. OK, truth be told I have only just got washed and dressed as I have been sorting out toy boxes and the kid’s costumes as well as prepping the roast. I know I am supposed to be doing trousers this week, but in my defence I did try three pairs and they are all in the go pile now. Then I ran out of time so bunged this on for ease with my favourite pair of black heels. Then I rushed into the garage to get Jake’s wellies for forest school and tripped on the sodding footballs and my heel broke off. Had a paddy and put these boots on. After a three-day weekend chilling and celebrating my birthday it’s back to work for me. Pleasantly surprised I am ready with time for a coffee because I decided to fanny around with the trouser section of my wardrobe. There are two pairs which are definitely going and maybe four pairs that I need to try on and style to see if I am going to part with them or not. There are also three pairs which need repairing so I have taken them out to remind me to do it. This pair I am not sure of. They’re comfy for a skinny trouser and I love the colour, but they are not very forgiving which makes me reluctant to wear them. Thought I’d style them up today to see how I feel. So far I think the colour and comfort is gonna win. Basically, we will be replacing our wardrobes this year and I would love to fit all of my clothes in without a squish or having to store seasonal items elsewhere, so I need a cull. I am going to do it section by section to stop the overwhelm. This week trousers. And hopefully I will actually upload some bits to Vinted. Anyway, that’s all a bit much for a Monday morning right? Elasticated waistband ready for a Sunday roast I have to admit that these trousers I also have in black and grey. They are so comfy. I did pick up a camo pair when I was out and about the other day but I am just not sure about them. Think they’re too light in colour so look almost ‘authentic’.
