Dag 13 Idag har vi tagit oss genom Toscana på en fin slingrande väg genom fler fina bergsbyar i sten. Tråkigt bara att de är så trångt och inga parkeringar för husbilar. Blev att vi bara passerade och njöt genom bilfönstret. Nu har vi landat på en super fin camping nere vid havet. After building the furniture it has been back to insulation. Even though I've been insulation a few hours each day after work the week the progress is very slow. My plan is to cover every metal part I can reach with Armaflex and that is taking a lot of time. I'm starting to get a little frustrated about that but I also want to do it as thoroughly as possible. The last day of these four days of furniture build is a wrap! Today we have refined the bed a bit, cut all the plywood pieces to dress the furniture in, installed many plywood sides, made the kitchen unit more complete and other small fixes here and there. I'm really happy for what we have achieved these four days and I could not have done it without the help of my friends! I'm so grateful for them! 🙏🏻 The bed unit and lunge unit is connected by a board that also is going to act like a table when the van is not in "bed mode". I will make or buy a leg for that board to be able to use it as a small table. I really like this idea and I think it turned out great! When te bed is pulled out we have made an extra board that goes in the gap from the pull-out part of the bed ro the lounge unit. This make for a bed that is roughly 188x110cm big. The "kitchen" unit will feature (as the plan is now) a sink and a small hand pump driven water tap. I'm so happy that the design I made a really turned out this good! On top of the bed/sofa and lounge there will of course be a thick mattress. There is still a whole lot of small things to do to complete the furniture like fasting some plywood boards, cutting out a shelf for the kitchen unit, adding boards at the bottom of most furniture, cutting holes to make the locker easier to open and so on. I will do these things on my own and sparingly through the spring. Tomorrow I will travel home and back home I will continue the insulation of the van. Furniture build day 3! Today we made the "kitchen unit". It will hold a small sink and hand water pump with small tanks for fresh and waste water. It will also feature space for things like food, plates and other "kitchen-like" things. We have also started to dress all the furniture with plywood. That process is not finished and will resume tomorrow and tomorrow is the last build day. Lounge time! Today we built the other big part of the bed, also called the "lounge" area of the van. This piece will sit along the back of the seats across the whole inside of the van. The part closest to the side door will have a small toilet underneath, and next to that is a hatch that opens from the top that will hold a cooler and a battery to power the electronics in the van. The "toilet part" of the unit will have a hatch that opens upwards from the side so the toilet can slide out. All sides will get 6mm plywood fitted around it, and so will most of the sides of the first bed unit as well. This unit is also meant to be the "lounge area" in the van where one can sit and get your feet up, just like a sofa. But now you wonder, how will these two parts form a 110cm wide bed and why is there a gap between them...? Follow along to see the complete layout! Floor update! After insulating the floor the subfloor is now in place. The subfloor is the original wooden floor that came with the van. On top of that I will put a nice vinyl floor that has not been purchased yet. I have also started to mark out a possible layout for the interior of the van. The coming week I will travel north and visit two friends who are going to help me build some of the interior! 😊 On other news I have also insulated the two back "windows". Getting there with the floor! Today I was free from work and the weather was okay so I spent the whole day working in the van 👍 Firstly, the 9mm thick Armaflex-type insulation to fill in the caps in the floor was completed. After that I insulated the wheel wells with 19mm Armaflex. The next step was to fit the 20mm thick XPS-boards. Two of them fitted perfectly and I then had to make templates using cardboard to then cut out the remaining parts that were needed to get a complete flat surface. This was a fun process! This weekend I started working on the floor. I didn't have much time these few days off work but I managed to remove the plastic floor, clean underneath, treat some small rust spots, rustproof and start laying down some 9mm thick insulation. On top of this insulation I will put 20mm think XPS (don't know if it's called xps in English?) and then the original plywood floor with some nice vinyl floor on top of that 👍 . . . . . #campervan #vanlife #vanlifesverige

Yesterday I bit the bullet and did one of the things I dreaded the most, drilled a hole in the van 😬. The hole is to feed the wire for a rear viewing camera sitting on the license plate to the driving area. The hole drilling process went well though and really wasn't hard at all! After the hole was made I treated it with rust protection and car paint. After that I fastened the camera on the license plate and removed the rear rail light and a rubber thing protecting wires to the tail light to be able feed the cables from the camera into the van. I then ran the cables through the van under plastic trim interior parts to the driving area and connected one of them to one of the cigarette lighter outlets and the other one to the screen which I fitted on the left hand side above the steering wheel. All in all the process was pretty simple and fun at the same time. It was interesting removing the tail light and plastic interior trim parts I hadn't removed before and I learned a lot in the process 😊 The camera is not connected to the reversing gear and it has an on/off switch so it can be turned on whenever, even when driving forward. #campervan #vanlife #vanlifesverige
