I've finished a long time WIP! I originally joined the QAL in 2020 and finished the quilt top in no time. Then I got stuck trying to figure out how to quilt this. It ended up in my WIP bin and I was afraid to take it out. Eventually I decided on straight line stitch-in-the-ditch quilting and a leafy free motion pattern in the teal part. Love it! It’s decision paralysis for me on the #saturdaynightcraftalong with Lucy from @charmaboutyou. I want to prepare the setting triangles for the March Block-a-Day sew along by @quilterpatsloan but, do I use the striped fabric or a solid green? 😱 If I use the striped fabric (my original plan) then, I will have to fussy cut the triangles in order to have the stripes all going in the same direction as the B blocks. This will waste a lot of fabric and leave bias edges all around the outside of the quilt centre. The solid fabric is a straightforward solution but it isn’t what I saw in my head. 🤷♀️ Opinions welcome. Fabrics are by @sweetwaterfabric and @frenchgeneral both for @modafabrics. En nu is hij helemaal klaar. Mijn “Peanut Butter Quilt”, ontwerp van @thencamejune. Het was in juni 2023 een #sewalong van een maand. Ik heb er wat meer tijd voor uitgetrokken 🤭 Het kiezen van stoffen, welke kleur waar, en het bedenken van de manier van doorquilten. Eindeloos (bijna) schuiven, combineren. Het naaien van de quilt kost het minste tijd. Het idee voor het quilten kwam van Jan. Zijn ideeën zijn erg verfrissend, een open blik en net even anders. Onvolledige cirkels over enkele diagonalen Blij mee! De achterkant van de quilt is een tweede top, gemaakt van allerhande reststukken en een paar 10” vierkanten. My Opus Magnus is complete! Center of the quilt was appliquéd and pieced on my Janome MC2400 in 2004. Borders and binding were completed in 2024 on my Bernina 535. The quilting was completed in 2024 by me on my Bernina Q16 sit down. There are lots of mistakes, I have a few regrets, but I am proud and happy to have it finished! La Fhéile Bride, Happy St Brigid’s Day or Imbolc which is said to mark the beginning of Spring. I quilted these green scrap panels last night using @aurifilthread 28 wt for the first time and love the resultant texture. I used the leaf decorative stitch on my machine. Das erste fertige Teil in diesem Jahr🎉 Der Plan umd Stoff für dieses Kissen ist bestimmt schon 5 Jahre alt. An Tops und Ideen für Kissen mangelt es in diesem Haus nicht, aber Rückseiten nähen -mit RV und einer Klappe darüber- ist nicht in meiner Komfortzone. Wobei ich mich bei diesem wie auch dem Fischkissen gefragt habe warum, weil es eigentlich recht entspannt lief. Zur Sicherheit habe ich mir Fotos gemacht, welche Maße ich nutze. This is my second attempt at the 'On-The-Go Project Bag' by @sotakhandmade from Svetlana's fantastic sewing book 'That Handmade Touch'. On my first attempt in March 2023, although happy with the finished bag, I used a heavyweight fabric for the drawstring casing, which resulted in a strenuous close. I rectified that issue here by using a lightweight linen fabric. The hexagon panels on the front and back have been scrappy orphan blocks in my WIP since early 2023, so I am delighted they have found a forever home 😃 This version is slightly taller than the pattern calls for in order to accommodate the hexagon orphan blocks. Now that my niece has her quilt I can show you the finished project. This is the ‘Wake Me Up’ quilt pattern by @emmajeanjansen. I was quite intimidated to baste and quilt such a large project by myself - the quilt is 70 x 84 inches - which is probably why it took two years to be finished! 🙄🤦♀️ The fabrics are by @cottonandsteel, @alexiamarcelleabegg, @iamrashidacolemanhale, @wattsalot, @dearstellafab and @makoweruk. And that’s a finish on the @dutchmqg BOM, the block of the month of 2023. It even has a label! - My inspiration was the kona cotton colour of the year 2023: crush, a deep citrusy red. I choose different reds and pinks from my stash to work with. - This BOM was a year long project of the Dutch Modern Quilt guild. Each month one member designed a block and we could choose the size 3, 6 or 9 inch. First finish for December is the the #madelinequilt by @penelopehandmade. I finished the quilt top in 2021 as part of #nationalsewajellyrollday. This project was definitely basted and quilted with multiple swear words. 🤬 I found the Speckled wide backing to be very slippery and difficult to keep flat despite masking tape, shed-loads of basting spray and, safety pins 🧷. I ended up having to rip out and redo some quilting because of puckers and folds on the back. 😤😠😡 The fabrics are Speckled by @rashida_coleman_hale for @rubystarsociety and Bella Solid in White from @modafabrics. Pünktlich zu Nikolaus ist dieses Ufo gelandet😊 Die Tage in den Stories von @mrs.bird.creations hatten wir es davon, dass (Weihnachts-)Projekte wegen "arghh, das war aber anders geplant" nicht fertig zu machen im Klabauterhaushalt zu unerquicklichen Situationen geführt hat. Ich habe mich also auch selbst an die Nase gefasst und mich diesem #Geschenkbeutel angenommen. Angefangen hatte ich das Projekt vor 2 Jahren *hust als @schwarzer_faden 4 Motive für ein weihnachtliches EPP-Tutorial vorgestellt hat #eppadvent #themagicofepp Für Applizieren (habe unter alle Teile einen Rest Quiltvlies geschoben) und 2 zusätzliche Päckchen unterm Baum hat es auch noch gereicht, aber fertig geworden ist es nicht. Als ich es aus der Kiste geholt habe, dann der Schreck - der wasserlösliche Markierstifft hat sich in einen hässlich säurebraunen Strich verfärbt🙈 Nach Ärgern und Fluchen habe ich gestern dann ein paar #bigstitchquilting Linien mit ein paar Schneeflocken drüber gesetzt. Fällt fast nicht mehr auf. Also: entweder nen anderen Markierstift als den in Bild 3 nehmen oder das fertige Stück direkt im Anschluss waschen. Die Variante mit dem Wasserpinsel hab ich auch für euch getestet. Gibt hier ein Kissentop mit braunen Wölkchen... This #logcabinquilt was supposed to be my project for #nationalsewajellyrollday in 2021 but, after making a few blocks, I just did not like them - should have made a test block before cutting up a whole #jellyroll and a half!!! 🤦♀️🙄🤷♀️ I took the project out of the vault of shame🔒and started sewing up the blocks.
