📍"Kanchi Kamaskshi Amman Temple, Kanchipiram, Tamilnadu"🙏🙏🙏 . 🎥 Credit : 📷@senthilkmr.nec . Follow and Support : @senthilkmr.nec . . 🕉️ The Kamakshi Temple is an ancient Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi, also known as Lalita, Shodashi and Maha Tripura Sundari, one of the highest aspects of Adi Shakthi. It is located in the historic city of Kanchipiram, near Cchennai, india. Its construction is credited to the Pallava kings, whose capital was in the same city. This temple, along with the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai and the Akilandeswari temple in Thiruvanaikaval near Tiruchirappalli are the important centers of Goddess worship in the state of Tamilnadu. 🕉️ According to a local legend, Adi Shankaracharyar established the Sri Chakra in this Kamakshi Devi temple in the trough-like structure in that shrine. 🕉️ As per Hindu scriptures, Kamakshi Amman is considered in line with Meenakshi  at Madurai and Visalakshi at Varanasi. Kamakshi is the only Shakti shrine centered across all Shiva temples in Kanchipuram which do not have separate shrines for Amman. Kamakshi is worshipped thus as Parabrahma Swaroopini.  #kanchikamatchi #kanchipuram #ammantemple #amman #hinduism #temple #tamilgod #hindutemple #templecitykanchipuram #durgakrishna #durgapuja #templegallery #durga #templephotographer #templephoto #hindu #durgamaa #tamilnadutemplearchitecture #saraswati #tamilnadutemple #temples #tamilnadutempletourism #kanchitemple #ammantamilstatus #tvm #photography #omsakthi #lakshmi #goddess #templesoftamilnadu @photography_kanchipuram @kanchi_temple_city @gopurams_of_south_india @templerunsanti @incredible_temples

The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the Tamil Nadu HR&CE department to install boards in all Hindu temples stating non-Hindus were not permitted beyond the 'Kodimaram' (flagpole) area in the respective shrines and said Hindus also have fundamental right to profess and practice their religion. Justice S Srimathy of the HC's Madurai Bench gave the judgement while hearing a plea from D Senthilkumar, who sought directions to the respondents to permit Hindus alone to the Arulmigu Palani Dhandayuthapani Swamy temple and its sub temples. He also wanted that display boards to that effect in all entrances be set up. The famous Lord Murugan temple is located in Palani in Dindigul district. The respondents were the Tamil Nadu government, represented by Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments, The Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE) and the Executive Officer of the Palani temple. The HR&CE department administers Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu. Admitting the petition, the court directed the respondents to install boards indicating "non-Hindus are not allowed inside temple after Kodimaram" in the entrance of the temples, near the flagpole and at prominent places in the shrine. -with agency inputs #tamilnadutemples #tamilnadutemplearchitecture #tamilnadu #tamilnadufood #tamilnadutourism #explore

I love these stone carvings reminiscent of yoga asana on the Sarangapani Temple in Kumbakonam. Sarangapani is one of the oldest and most revered temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple has both historical and spiritual significance, and is an important pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Vishnu. The sprawling temple complex (12 CE) by the Chola Dynasty, is a fine example of Dravidian architecture, with a towering gopuram and several mandapams that are adorned with exquisite carvings. The temple is enshrined within a huge granite wall and the complex contains all the shrines and the water bodies of the temple. The rajagopuram (the main gateway) has eleven tiers and has a height of 173 ft (53 m). The inner sanctum is older and it dates back to the beginning of their era. Gopuram is 44 m high. South gate is used as the entrance in times when sun is on the southern hemisphere and northern gate serves as the entrance when sun travels north. Sarangapani, or Vishnu, is shown in the Udhyoga Sayana posture reclining in the cosmic sea on Adishesha, with his head resting on his right hand as if he is getting up from a reclining position. Having been to Muktinath recently, this space was really emotional for me. I could feel the cosmic sea. The legends are complex, but in a nutshell it’s here that the goddess Lakshmi was born as Bhargavi in the Potramarai tank and Lord Vishnu descended on Earth in His chariot to marry her. If photographs were allowed inside, you’d see that the central shrine is in the form of a chariot drawn by horses and elephants, with openings on either side, showing the descent of Sarangapani from heaven in the chariot.

I don’t want to give the impression that I’m living some sort of extravagant life in Tamil Nadu, from my posts about glamourous Chettinad mansions. These are only a slight diversion on the way. I’m really here on a temple tour, a yatra pilgrimage of sorts. The problem is that photography is prohibited in almost all the temples so i have no photos to post. Interestingly, I was visiting Lord Bhairav at the Vairavanpatti Vairavan Swamy Mandir, a wrathful form of Shiva who has a dog 🐕 as his vahana (vehicle) and who ripped the fifth head of Brahma, maybe because I’ve done so much Bhairava sadhana taking care of dogs, but I was in the temple and a Brahmin priest came over a took me on a private tour giving me permission to take photos. So here is a rare glimpse from inside the exquisite 500-year old Dravidian temple in South India. ♥️🐕
