The Cartier “Cintrée” (French meaning curved) was launched in 1921, over a century ago! Legendary movie star and dancer Fred Astaire used to own one so did Steve McQueen. #thehorologyclub paid homage to the Astaire version by commissioning a 10-piece set with lumes on 8,5 and 2 hour markers denoting Hong Kong. The Cloche and the Cintree in platinum are both excellent and filled with easter eggs that pay tribute to Hong Kong and The Horology Club The Cloche began its life as a “brooch watch” in the 1920s when such things could be worn unironically, and was named for the French word for “bell” because ̷t̷h̷e̷ ̷w̷a̷t̷c̷h̷ ̷w̷a̷s̷ ̷m̷o̷s̷t̷l̷y̷ ̷w̷o̷r̷n̷ ̷b̷y̷ ̷b̷e̷l̷l̷e̷n̷d̷s̷.. of its unique shape This is also intended to function as a desk clock since it can be set upright on its straight surface (pic 2), but if you want to read the time like a normal person with less of a dramatic flourish, you can simply set the time back 3:15 as I do, and embrace the wabi sabi of slightly misaligned hands
