The actor stresses, however, that the story would have to do right by the character and, crucially, take his age into account. Check out Mortensen’s comment below when asked about his potential return:“Sure. I don’t know exactly what the story is, I haven’t heard. Maybe I’ll hear about it eventually. While official story details haven’t been revealed for The Hunt for Gollum, the most logical story for the movie seems to be one based around a plot point from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings appendices.While not included in Jackson’s film, there’s a span of about two decades after Frodo comes into possession of the Ring in which Gandalf and Aragorn hunt Gollum to prevent him from revealing information about the Hobbit to Sauron. This is presumably what Serkis’ film will be about, meaning Aragorn would be the same age in the new movie as he was in The Fellowship of the Ring. Of those, a very small number will carry an additional presentation plate dedicated to “friends of the publisher” on the front free endpaper. One of the four copies that you see here contains this unique plate. The nature of the leather used has been the point of contention for many years. However, collectors now unanimously agree that “bonded leather” is used, which is a mixture of leather fibers and polyurethane resin. Not what we wanted to hear, but it still does not diminish our love for these rare beauties! Warner Bros. will release the 1st of its new batch of live-action “The Lord of the Rings” films in 2026 .. which will focus on Andy Serkis’ Gollum. Original “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson & his partners Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens are producing the movie & “will be involved every step of the way,” Warner Bros. - Discovery CEO David Zaslav said during an earnings call. The history and personality of Thranduil makes for one of the most perfectly crafted characters to enter fiction. The human emotions that many of us suffer through such as depression and PTSD is extremely obvious within him even while he tries to hide those "weaknesses" for the sake of the people dependent on him. All the while living in the past and mourning his previous life by ignoring the needs of his child is something that happens all too often. He realized too late the relationship he could have had with his child and now he finds himself alone as that child matured, has left home and formed those close relationships with others who were present in his life. This unfortunately happens way too often in the real world. I think one of many reasons why people gravitated towards Thranduil's energy was because his trauma and emotions were relatable and perhaps they felt seen. Nevermind the fact that @leeepfrog could express all those raw emotions with a simple look, no words needed, which is a huge testament to his professionalism and talent. @andyserkis @sir_peterjackson We need him back for so many reasons!
