And it’s Friday Introductions time again! ✨ August Of This Dreadful Year Edition ✨ If I’m going to be one hundred percent honest, July has been one of the most personally taxing months of 2020 for me. Quite a fete, I know!! With that being said, I’m a true believer that when really sad things happen, you should definitely let yourself feel all the feels.... and then you choose to keep living and choose to keep living well. I want to believe that dead people would encourage us to live well if not purely because of their lack of ability to do so. • • So! As part of the living well thing and among other lofty goals of mine for August, I am not going to complain about anything for a WHOLE month 🤐 I’m not sure how I’m going to accomplish this in the midst of what’s going on out there right now... maybe I’ll just stop speaking?? A long, long time ago... in a Galaxy not so far away. Story time! In college I was an art major for a while, and even after I wasn’t any longer I would spend a lot of free time still crafting and drawing. Some for me, a lot for my roommates, and for my boyfriend (now husband) when I would miss him after he had graduated. One of the first things I gave him was a manatee I drew for myself, but he liked it too. I had a hard time parting with it so I made him a #StarWars drawing instead, but ultimately gave him both. My heart was so full he first time I visited and he had them hanging in his room ❤️ I think it’s fun to reflect on past things that you did or worked on that you didn’t know would play such a huge part in your future. I wanted to get my bachelors degree in Art, but ultimately changed it because “what in the world am I going to do with ‘just’ an art degree.” I may not have a degree in art, but my heart and my future are. GUYS! Ok so I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get excited for today but I am. I think in this time of uncertainty, it’s exactly what I needed. A little hope. • I decided to launch my own website - that I built entirely on my own - when I realized from the customer side it’s hard to find someone thru someone else’s platform (vendor sites.) I needed to take my business in my own hands and so I did. My plan was to say how this picture accurately depicts how I feel that my website launches tomorrow, but honestly I feel far from it. It’s such an odd time right now. I love March for so many reasons - one of which being that it’s when things pick up again after the New Year slump. But I don’t think that will be the case right now. I’ve just wrapped up a piece to get in the mail ASAP, but I’m trying to stay positive because it will all be ok and normalcy will return. So today’s positive is the fact that I get to create designs like this for friends and loved ones for life’s precious moments. And I’m thrilled for Tuesday’s release of my new website. The world may be a little scary right now, but it’s still full of beautiful things that we have to focus on. In all seriousness, please be careful friends. I used to paint almost every day years ago and it wasn’t until recently that I started again, not even for Pix Market, but for myself. I was thrilled and my ideas expanded the first time a customer asked to add watercolor to their piece. It really does add something special.

flourished modern script in BPW tropical flower stamps. As a calligrapher I don’t usually get to see the finished envelopes with their postage. Clients usually send me their blank paper goods , I work my magic and send them back for assembly. So I love when I get to see how they are styled with the invitation suite and pretty stamps like these.
I had a plan to jump back into Wedding Wednesday, but my Wednesday just wasn’t a great day and I didn’t want to force something that I simply just wasn’t feeling. As I got ready to go to bed at my parents house I saw my mom hung a piece I did years ago the first time I moved out of my first apartment after college. I stopped to reflect on this piece for so many reasons, one how I didn’t even know that calligraphy and art would be such a big piece of my future. And hw many more moves there would be to come. I’ve been feeling the urge to try so hard to keep myself present in this social sphere and it’s getting harder, mostly because we’re about to make a move I wasn’t ready for. I’ve been so stressed and trying to not let it get to me, but I don’t have to so I’m just going to move on day by day as I can. I was so scared when I was making this piece years ago. Everything was changing. Seeing it was a great reminder that although we don’t know what’s to come, the adventure is always worth it. P.S. I promise when the path is clearer I’ll share more about our move! 🏡

Last January I was so ready to start my new year off BIG. I had plans and goals and I was beyond confident. This was my second business, I had a portfolio, I was ready. But life doesn’t always hit the ground running (am I right business people?? 🙋🏼♀️) January hurt. And so did February. I started to panic. Would this work? I really thought it would. And then something happened. I stopped worrying and pressed on and kept my mind focused on content rather than a list. I completely forgot to set a goal for March and I was shocked as my list grew and continued to grow through the year. . There’s so many important sides to building a business or a brand and so many times we set goals for ourselves that we’re not ready for and feel as though we’ve failed. I had to fight really hard for that March list, which I think had I not stepped back and put my goals in a different direction it may not have taken off this way. . Honestly I haven’t set my 2020 goals yet. For some big reasons and some small reasons. I’m ready and I’ve already got dates in my calendar, but I’m a firm believer that you don’t need a new year to set goals and switch directions. You’ll feel it when it is ✨

Dip pen practice. Just bought an oblique holder, and aside from having to learn more about the nib types and sizing, I do have to say it’s helped my control. . . . . This has always been the biggest challenge for me in my lettering career. I practice frequently, but not consistently. I just get really discouraged when it doesn’t look the way I like, and very often, I put the pen down. . . . . I’ve been noticing the major differences in my artwork from years ago, and I’ve made incredible progress. But I’m so hard on myself that I still feel like I’m not at the level I want to be at. But with that said, I’m patient. I understand the time it takes to achieve greatness, and that’s why I still work. Plus, this shit is fun. . . . . Also, I was watching Friends while doing this and his name was the most fun to write. And it was one that I could confidently do and have the courage to post to social media.

I realized I didn’t officially introduce y’all to our two new sleepy team members who can often be found creating on big ball of fur (see third picture.) Rae is our sweet tripod that we got shortly after losing Izzie. She was actually was approved to come home with us the week he was sick and we found her specifically for him, which is why we felt it all the more important to still bring her home while our hearts were mending. She had a rough past, but shows this incredible joy and love anyway. We then got Raleigh to help Rae when we realized she had no clue how to “dog”. She was this sweet gentle shell, but had so much to overcome. Raleigh is the most dog-dog I think I’ve ever had. He’s wild and the complete opposite of what the rescue claimed him to be, but even with his quirks (and the daily heart attacks of him doing ANYTHING to annoy someone causing me to scream my head off), he is so sweet and it’s hard to be mad/sad in his presence. Plus, he’s been an amazing friend to Rae and has done so much for her, as she has for him. They’re both still in training, so I guess we’ll still consider them interns for the moment. Really sleepy, not always reliable, but pretty cute interns. Happy Friday friends!
For the last couple days I’ve been working on this acrylic family crest piece. I can’t wait to put the final pieces together to send it on it’s way this weekend. I haven’t painted with acrylics in a year (when Marc moved away I decided to buy the biggest canvas I could find and see if had any creativity in me to fill some alone time. Thankfully I did) I’ll share that piece in my stories because it does hold a dear place in my heart, as I hope this will for my client and his family for many years to come.

Tis my favorite season
This time last year wedding season was about to take off in our lives, we practically had a wedding every weekends, but it was all those moments filled with our friends and loved ones that we get to cherish forever. In the coming weeks I’m going to share my favorite moments and pieces from last year’s weddings, starting with my best friend who also celebrated her birthday yesterday ❤️ I loved this moment and shot captured by @alexaconnerphotography (plus a million of the others, because she is so freaking cool and talented) This moment was fun, even though we weren’t very good at the whole “walk towards me and laugh” [I’ll post proof in my story] but she made it look and feel like we were naturals. Kassie and Sean’s wedding was so perfectly them and I’m still so happy to have spent these special moments by their sides.
I really took the weekend to take a step back and focus on so many things inside my home and self and it feels so good as I sit here preparing myself for the new week. Just a lil piece of a special 18th anniversary gift that went out today. I got to work with a photo transfer on this one, and I hadn’t done one in a while. I was excited because I love the way the look, but MAN can they put up a fight! Happy anniversary Gary and Nancy! I hope you’re days are spent filled with love. What an amazing accomplishment and example of love ❤️✨
Spent the weekend taking a much needed deep breath after my summer event season ended for my full time job. It feels good to move on to what’s to come this fall and planning for the 2020 year. In between projects this week I’ll be focusing on some new business plans. And when I’m not working planning events, creating your amazing pieces, or walking dogs, I’ll be here thinking back on this beautiful mirror from a wedding a couple weekends back 😍

It’s been a while since I’ve said “Hey”, so Hey! Thank you all so much for being here with me. I’m beyond blessed that I get to connect with so many amazing people and work on pieces that are so near to their hearts. After crushing that stunning oversized frame (rentable from @lapofluxuryny) I finally ran off for a break and was so stunned by the bathroom at @renaissanceeventhall I HAD to take a selfie. The textures and colors are adorable. (Don’t mind my very tire eyes - they were just that from writing 168 tiny little names and numbers!) Anyway, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for following me on this journey and I can’t wait to see what you all have in store for me! ❤️❤️

I’m so excited to share this one. I’m so happy with all the pieces here. I used to watercolor a lot in college in my free time. I loved playing with the colors and the techniques and I got to do some of them again with this one. My client really let me lead with creativity while following her initial design plan. We really worked together to bring this to life and I hope she’s as thrilled as I am!
I’ll be wrapping up this piece tonight. I was thrilled when my client reached out to me asking to add some water color to her piece. It really changed everything in such a beautiful way 🌈
