Making these black dresses brought about mixed feelings on black dresses. I probably own about 10 black dresses that I cycle through which happen to be the staple of my everyday wear. The mixed feelings were brought about from watching episodes of Grey's Anatomy - > @greysabc and thinking about death and dying. Personally, I do not fear death or dying. It's not because I used to be a nurse and had experienced dying patients but more so because I see death as a mere transition into another state of existence. Once in awhile, I'll think about what it would be like to be gone from this plane. The black dresses reminded me of funerals, too. Some new brides choose the colour black for their wedding dress. How can you possibly have just one little black dress? . My every day wear consists of a black cotton dress, black tights and the occasional black sweater or jacket. Since I mostly work from home a black sweater or jacket is barely needed unless I'm on a video conference with a client. I'm old fashioned. Even when I work from home I still dress for business. The only thing missing from my daily wear are shoes. Who wears shoes at home, anyway? . 👗💕 .................. ............ ....... Making tissue paper flowers never ends. It started in kindergarten. I had a wonderful childhood. I loved school. I enjoyed art time. I can still remember the smell that comes from separating layers of tissue paper from each other. I used to marvel at the different colours that were carefully arranged in the designated "tissue paper cupboard". Just knowing that the cupboard was there made being in school worthwhile. There would be these cupboards or shelves at the back of the kindergarten to grade 3 classrooms. They started disappearing in the later grades. Construction paper took over and the shelves of tissue paper became extinct. I wonder what it's like in classrooms nowadays? . 👗💕 .................. ............ ....... Most of my clothing is black. I made a choice to get rid of most of my clothing with colour because I wanted to simplify things in my life, even more. It was part of a minimalist exercise that I imposed on myself just to see if I could do it. Lately, I've been having flashbacks of colourful clothing that I used to wear. A few of my faves were @betseyjohnson pieces circa late 90s - early 2000s. I admit that I've always been drawn to blacks and whites. Individually, they create captivating statements. Behind the scenes: Setting up for a photoshoot. . I never thought I would need a drill when embarking on the #100paperdresses project. It turns out that all sorts of tools come in handy. Apparently, it's almost like building a set with props to go along with the dresses. This is getting more involved than I thought. People say I have an interesting hobby. Behind the scenes: Hanger Evolution. . I first used up all the thin copper wire I had until I ran out. Then I found white paper wrapped wire for wedding floral arrangements but that became too costly. I then found left over galvanized steel wire which was so thin and pliable that it was easy to bend then into the dresses (if I needed to). I quickly ran out of that wire and defiantly ended up using the green floral wire. I didn't like the colour at all so I tried to pretty it up with beads and painting the tops gold. Now, I decided to use left over wire to design hangers that I could easily hang the dresses on without doing #paperyoga. Behind the scenes: New mannequin design - I wanted to find another way to display the paper dresses other than using a hanger and metal stand. I had to think of a way to design a mannequin stand that could easily slip into each dress. I ended up using wire and leaving the ends *raw* to insert into holes that I made on pieces of wood.
