Day 2 (but let’s be real with the jet lag it was our actual Day 1 😂), and we met a guide to give us a crash course on the transport system and how to get from a to b. This unfortunately (or fortunately) clashed with the Tokyo Marathon, so some routes were closed and we couldn’t get to certain places and certain transport lines were shut or we had to go underground through stations and pop up at other exits to navigate some parts of the route. I found myself an initial spot of fencing where no one else was standing. How lucky, I thought to myself and as I don’t speak any Japanese I didn’t realise for quite a while I wasn’t supposed to stand there and was being asked to keep moving. That’s why the fence line was empty. 😬😆 Even a few days later you could spot the runners and it wasn’t their medals there were still wearing that gave it away initially it was the gait of their walk on those poor tired legs. And I totally didn’t make a conscious effort to coincide these with today’s @londonmarathon as I didn’t have a clue it was even on until my husband told me when he saw what I was doing. 😂

Documenting sanctuary animals, like this sloth, is usually routine. The animals cooperate and pose or evade the lens. However, this sloth provided me with a surprise. After shooting on my canon I swapped to a GoPro 10 to get video for socials. The sloth grabbed the GoPro and inspected it closely. Not wanting to miss the interaction I grabbed the camera again. As I shot the sloth and its inspection I failed to notice its transition. The sloth had tired of the camera and decided to taste my thumb. While on a nature walk on Boxing Day, I snapped this photo. My youngest child nearly tripped over what seemed like an innocuous stick as he raced ahead. Luckily, he stopped just in time and backed away cautiously. To our surprise, a diamondback rattlesnake was sprawled across the entire path, basking in the December sun. Quickly, I dropped to the ground to capture some images. As I continued, my new reptilian acquaintance began to grow agitated.
