Un énorme projet c’est concrétisé ce week end … La mise en place de notre création personnel une tiny housse de 25 m2 avec tout le confort nécessaire pour enchaîner les stages , qui sont de plus en plus nombreux et intense donc pour le confort le matériel et la sécurité ce projet a vu le jour . Voici deux mois et 200 h de travail avec mes deux coéquipiers que nous avons réaliser de nos mains cette superbe structure 6 mètre de long 3 mètres de large et 4 mètres de haut. No worries, het is allemaal goedgekomen! Maar je zou toch zo denken dat er een zak met 💩 over ons huisje is geleegd. Dit krijg je dus als je niet meer scherp bent. De laatste weken liepen we op onze tenen, maar de rust is nu gelukkig teruggekeerd. Inmiddels zit ons huisje op wielen in de laatste testfase en de afgelopen tijd is duidelijk geworden wat de kinderziektes zijn. Zo zijn de accu's al binnen 2 weken vervangen, want die deden niet wat ze moesten doen en hebben we na een lekkage een nieuwe mengkraan moeten aanschaffen. Maar het belangrijkste is: we voelen ons helemaal thuis en ons huisje is bijna klaar voor het echte werk! Wanneer we dan gaan? We durven het bijna niet te zeggen, want ons vertrekdatum is al een keer verschoven, maar laten we zeggen ergens deze maand en vooral wanneer het goed voelt. 🛀Yep, we have a bath in a van, we use it, love it and it cheers me up when things are not going to plan. 🚛 Returning to the rustic land our friends own, we're reminded of all the updates we have done here on Florry when things go wrong. The standout improvement has definitely been the bath. A long hot soak after a dive or long walk, especially on chilly days is such a privilege . 🙏 It's the little things in life that can help when feeling down about things. We still have issues with one completely dead 9 month old lithium battery, but still have enough power in are other one for now, so things are working ok. We are very aware we don't have long until the winter grey skies come and we will struggle with power so really do need two batteries and not just the one as there is no campsite here to retreat to and we are totally off grid. Happy Monday 🙈😍🤦♀️ A filling agenda, loads of new things coming up, quite some stuff scheduled & needs fixing etc. etc. Since we are back from Austria, the slow winter-vanlife really took a turn, a turn to fast-paced suburban vanlife 😉 We have pushed quite some To Do’s to “when we are back”. However, now that we are here, there are so many things that it can sometimes feel overwhelming, even so, that I (Nicole) feel quickly the itch to leave, to dream again, to have less stuff in my agenda to be ankered to. At the same time, busy feels good, the good kind, the kind where you are energised by everything & still have these kind of moments like on the picture. The moments where you chill with new friends on your terras & share good kite-stories over a beer. The moments where other people can enjoy your space & you’re able to share it. The moments when all the agenda points are again pushed a little further away 🙌 While life is fast these days, we also try to keep it slow 🐌

Kitchen Build🛠️ Swipe to see the progress 👉 Choices I’ll elaborate on: 1. @ikeadeutschland instead of second-hand 🥲 2. No “bigger” hanging cabinets 🙈 3. Appliances 🔌⚡️ Choosing an Ikea kitchen over a second-hand, more suistainble solution was hard for me (Nicole). However, we had a certain design idea & very specific sizing. We checked out a few second-hand deals which a lot of times are MUCH bigger then our kitchen. Meaning we would need to get rid of 80% of the kitchen. With our sektchup plan & the kitchen planer from Ikea we had in a few minutes the perfect options figured out 🤗 So in the end we chose the easy way 🫠 2. To make our space feel as big as possible, we listened to the advise of @auke.jildou to NOT have anything hanging above hip hight. This simply makes the feeling of the space smaller. Hence, we elevated the floor to gain storage there 🙌 3. Because I felt in our previous van as if I am doing dishes 6 times a day & in a lot of research it showed that a dishwasher can be saving water we chose to install one. It is a second-hand Siemens domestic dishwasher, which runs 99% of the time purely on solar power. So far we have 9 out of 12 months enough energy to power up our dishwasher when we want. Only in the deepest winter months it was tricky. In those times we simply choose to not use it. The oven is on gas & the fridge is a compressor fridge powdered by 12volt. So our setup has really a house feeling 🏡 Do you have any questions? 👇

Tile backsplash in the kitchen 😍 This is something I really wanted so I did a lot of research on “how” to attaché the tiles & keeping breaking risk low. In the end we used simply montage kit & also the grooves where filled with silicon bathroom kit. Luckily Nicole’s dad is a professional tiler & has more then 25 years of experience. So the result was more then satisfying!! 🥰 Btw. If people tell you it’ll break because of vibration, torsion of the vehicle - after 1 year we full-time living everything is still bueno 👌

Status Report 🚨 First time leaving the van for 3 days 🥺 We have never left the van in winter for more then a few hours. That has changed: Both of us had work related trips & traveled apart for a few days. So our rolling home needed to stand his own man & be alone for a few days. Seems like not a big deal, but it felt strange & pretty scary: Will the water freeze again? Will the heater make sure the interior stays on a constant temperature? Will someone break in? 😨 What are your experiences? 🌿

We started a Podcast 🙌 Why? Honestly, @liebreizend_ just inspired us to do it. When they came over they shared all the projects they are doing and our reaction was: „Wow, if they can do it with kids, we have no excuse!“ So after a really nice powder day in the mountains, we got back really smashed, ordered pizza & set up our first recorded conversation 🎙 What happened during & after? 1. We find it pretty grounding to actually sit together for 1 hour to talk with each other with 100% attention 🫠 2. It is really real. Honest answers & time to articulate thoughts we don’t really speak out loud. Literally a therapy of sorts. We will really deep dive into the whole #vanlife lifestyle. 9 months living in the van update 🚛 It doesn’t feel like a van anymore. Nor does it feel like #vanlife that much. This because we’ve chosen to travel less and to stay around the city Innsbruck more. Not because we like cities all of a sudden but because of it’s people, the connections, my career as a filmmaker 🎥, Nicole’s yoga & acro course 🧘🏻♀️, dancing swing & salsa 💃🏻and all the other activities inbetween. Interesting hé?! We’ve worked for a long time to be able to live our childhood dream: travel around & Snowboard/ Kitesurf day in day out. Now that we can.. we’re choosing not to. For me it seems the chasing of this reality was more exciting than the reality itself. Turns out I’m getting bored living my dream 🥱. Did we fail? A 💯% no! We had to alter our course slightly to balance out both of our needs & wishes. But we’re growing like never before in terms of life experience, our relationship and our careers. And still we get to stay in the most amazing spots and shred fresh powder for weeks on end! 🤘🏂
S I L E N C E 🧘♀️ There is magic in focus & flow. It creates this perfect silence. A good friends of ours called it the moment when the radio goes silent, the moment when everything becomes quiet. I cherish those moments a lot. Personally, I (Nicole) don’t experience them a lot. Maybe that is why I am drawn to outdoor & extreme sports. It forces you into a flow, into the silence of the mind, to focus on the next mission ❄️🏂 What is your next mission? 👌

#wintervanlife 😅 We arrived more then one month ago in winterwonderland Austria. We really needed some time to adjust to be living in the snow & cold temperatures 🙈 Driving small mountain passes with the house, having a full frozen plumbing system, learning how to keep everything heated, how to deal with way less electricity than what we are used to & how to stay nice to each other, while on 16m2 & being together 24/7 🤪 Oh & of course that all happened, while being the warmest winter in Austria in all history, so I am curious how it is when it is normal 🫣😅 Do you have some #wintervanlife tips for us? 😅
