What has traditionally been a lengthy journey, usually involving a flight into Cancun and then a two-hour drive south, has now been dramatically shortened with the official opening of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport or Tulum Airport (TQO) in Quintana Roo, Mexico. 🇲🇽 What international airlines fly into Tulum? Kind of like an ATM withdrawal fee. This can really add up fast! 💰 No foreign transaction fee means that a credit card or debit card does not include a surcharge for international purchases. In other words, you won’t be charged extra for using the credit card outside of the U.S. Many travel reward credit cards will waive foreign transaction fees as well as accumulate points that you can use for future travel. 🌎 Another perk of using a travel rewards credit card, is that you do not have to carry as much money or change currencies as often. NYC TIP: if you’re visiting for the first time and want to enjoy both the Empire State Building & the Rockefeller Centre (top of the rock) or feel you only need to do one and not the other - my suggestion is do BOTH! Do one in the day and the other in the evening. The views are out of this world during the day and evening but there is something so special about seeing #NYC so lit up! Visiting @rockefellercenter (going to the top) requires you to book a time slot and the only time available was 8pm which we were so thrilled about. Thankfully this information was in our booklet we received when collecting our Explorer Pass which I highly recommend purchasing and it has this included as an attraction. #flashbackfriday to earlier this week when I took my little guy to Chicago. I’ve got some tips for you: • check out the “secret” 10th floor of the Harold Washington library. It’s a winter garden and it’s so cool. • to see the Bean without huge crowds, go on a weekday morning - as early as you can get yourself up (this was 8:45am or so on a Tuesday) • when traveling with little kids, get them little backpacks and have them carry their own snacks, so as they age they can weigh if they want more snacks or less weight. • Do your research and determine which “big ticket” places you want to see. It may be the City Pass is a good deal, but it’s also possible that you’d save money buying individual entry tickets. We ended up not getting City Passes and saved money. • for young kids, I can’t recommend these little LCD drawing boards enough. My guy sat for nearly the entire plane ride coloring it all in, completely satisfied with life and didn’t fuss. Listen, I was a rope drop to fireworks girlie for the longest time. And then I had a kid. We took two rest days on our trip and it was absolutely worth it!!! We slept in, did a character breakfast, swam in the pool, took a nap, and strolled around Disney Springs. I recommend if you are going for a week to take a break. Cruising Disney Cruise Line during a hurricane? No worries... As an agency group, we cruised on the Wish during the inaugural sailings this past September. The tropical storm in the area ended up graduating to a devastating hurricane while we were onboard. Disney was fantastic about changing our itinerary and avoiding the storm. We never felt unsafe at all! The captain and crew were informative and helpful keeping us aware of the situation any time they had an update. Captain Andy skillfully kept us away from any rough waters and we actually only experienced one short rainfall despite the crazy big storm in the area. Onboard, they added many activities and meet and greets to keep us busy. We would not hesitate to cruise during hurricane season again. However, we will all definitely be getting the insurance again!!! These photos capture some of the ominous cloud formations and the beautiful sky after the storm. Here are 3 reasons why the Volcano View upgrade at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort is worth the extra! Admittedly, not all upgrades are worth it. This is where a seasoned Travel Agent can come in handy! We just had Christina stay in both a Standard and a Volcano View to check out the differences between the rooms. "Although I would repeat a stay in the standard room, the volcano view room was nicer. Standard was a cute room, but I can see where it may be tight with kids in tow." - Christina Although these Volcano rooms are located at the edge of the resort in the newer towers, which are very nice and fit the "modern retro" theme perfectly, these rooms are worth the extra steps. As parts of the country begin to open back up and we approach a holiday weekend next week, we thought we could share a few safe traveling tips to keep you all healthy! 🚗Carry a container of sanitizing wipes in your vehicle. You can use these on gas pumps, door handles, credit card keypads, shopping carts, and anything else you may need to touch while you're traveling. ✋Limit stops while road-tripping. While we know you may want to stop and enjoy various road-side attractions, try to limit stops to necessities only. Gas, restrooms, and food. If you need to stop and stretch your legs, look for someplace with lots of space to allow you to socially distance from others. 📖Research the current rules and guidelines for destinations along your route and your final destination. Are masks required? Are restaurants open? Are certain activities not allowed right now? Research ahead of time and plan accordingly. 👐Wash your hands whenever possible. If there's not a sink around, hand sanitizer will do for the time being. When you arrive back to your hotel/camper/house/etc., make sure you wash thoroughly. 🎲Depending on your destination, it may be a good idea to bring some family fun activities that your family hasn't done before!
