📍Pang Oung lake (ou l’endroit où j’ai cru que j’avais attrapé la rage 😂) Le lac Pang Oung est un petit bijou situé dans la province de Mae Hong Son, dans le nord-ouest de la Thaïlande. 💡Localisation : Pang Oung Lake se trouve dans le parc national de Mae Hong Son. Il est niché dans les montagnes près de la frontière birmane. Il s’agit d’un lac situé dans les montagnes, il est entouré de collines et forêts verdoyantes. 💡 activités : il est possible de profiter de diverses randonnées, d’y faire un pic-nic ou de louer un bateau. 💡 climat : sec, moins étouffant qu’ailleurs et agréable. Nous avons profité de l’ambiance calme du lac et du fait que nous étions seules pour louer un bateau, pour la modique somme de 200 bath. (5euros environ) Nous voulions également loger sur place. The RealID Act is 19 years in the making, but is finally set to be enforced starting in May of 2025. This time, it is much less likely to be postponed (as in years past) as all 50 states, 5 territories, AND the District of Columbia are compliant. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮: when flying domestically, you will need to have a RealID to get through TSA Security. This rule does not apply for children under 18 years old flying with an adult companion. TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling with a companion within the United States. Any of the following qualify: 🪪 𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗜𝗗 (either license or identification card). This requires a few additional pieces of paperwork when you go to apply for one, so make sure to read the instructions well. 🪪 𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲'𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗗 (either license or identification card). This typically costs a bit more than a RealID as it can be used to cross the border on land or ship between the US and Canada or Mexico. 🪪 𝗔 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱. Don’t make the mistake that we did… Don’t assume that you can get tickets to major attractions in European cities on the day of when you visit. If you wait to “go with the flow”, you may miss out on seeing a place. 🇵🇪 Travel tip (save for later!) 🌴 Home to the only real oasis/desert lagoon in South America and to the highest sand dunes of the continent, Huacachina is a special place in the heart of Peru, that you should put on your list. How to get there, tho? I’ll tell you what I chose to do and why. I knew there are daytrips or 2-day trips taking you from Lima to Huacachina, and I also knew that many people get a specific tourist bus-pass that takes to the main destinations of the country. The trip to Ica is usually combined with a stop in Paracas, a coastal town where you can join a scenic boat trip to the wild islets called Ballestas. But these organised options sounded a bit mainstream and overpriced. So I checked the local transport options and made an itinerary by myself, which turned out to be efficient, flexible and cheap. What I did, and recommend, is to take a normal intercity bus to Ica, and from there a local tuk-tuk to Huacachina (which takes 10 mins and costs around 2$). There I stayed at @viajerokokopelli and went to the dunes for a sunset sandboarding excursion. The next day, from Ica I took a bus to Paracas (where I joined the boat excursion) and from there I just took a direct bus back to Lima at the time I preferred. I must also say that it wasn’t hard to plan all of this online, because the bus lines have functioning websites. Also, the island trip and the buggy activity in the desert are extremely affordable & easy to arrange when you get there. By doing it this way, you don’t just save money but also have your own timetable and a less touristy experience. It obviously always depends on your priorities, but personally these 3 factors play a big role in my travel decision-making. Let me know if you have any questions so far.
