Evo/DSM 2.4 guys, old school info says the 6mm extra deck height offsets cams 1/2 tooth or 3.75 deg. That’s not quite right. 6mm deck height is 4.75-4.85 deg (depending on HG and decked surface). With standard cams, adjust as appropriate. With MIVEC you have to choose between advancing that 4.75 or retarding a tooth. Both affect the total range. I finally cut the Mivec gear 5deg, so with retarding 1 tooth, full range of intake advance is -4 to +31deg. After running the MR2 at barber I felt a bittersweetness. My students @renhenry1 and Sulu were stoked and driving their porshes home, more confident with their abilities. But I didn't quite finish the last session, limping back onto the trailer with 10min left in the day. @tcsmotorsports found that I was sold a defective transmission, that I needed an oil catch can to be pulling the sideways loads that I carry in this car, and that I blew off some rockers with the mis-shift last session. Evo throttle by wire done the SSB way. That’s to say, slightly excessive in details. The 68mm Bosch is about perfect size, but the ends taper to 70mm. The Evo manifold doesn’t have room on the left side for a 70mm hole so instead I scanned the manifold and tweaked the hole to taper gently to a perfect shape given available material. The odd taper makes a funky lofted shape with undercuts but a 5min op on the 5-axis knocks it out easy. So bolt on the adapter, mark the opening, remove, and port up to the line and in about 1”. Is it necessary? I dunno. Did I do it anyway? The portable air tank carried by the suspension tech connects to the shock and permits preload change in SECONDS. Just as quick as integrated or hydraulic preload without carrying the weight on the bike. #MR2uesday 🏁 It's been quite the rollercoaster since getting the dos back on the road. @tcsmotorsports knocked out the V6 swap super quick and after some putting around on the street I took it straight to coaching at @barbermotorpark with @jzillatrackdays . Smokin oil, dripping trans fluid and blowing off some rockers at the end of the event due to misshift, and back to TCS we went. Again, Ty and Brian were quick to work, sort the issues, and it was immediately off to go test at the dragon for #TogueFest . Car was superb! Fluids stayed in the car! Motor pulls hard! Only had to pull over for one car, a Miata!- that was hot in his sessions when I first got there. Tires are definitely the limiting factor now and next to be modded. Unfortunately, after the dragon slaying, my 1st gear shift issues came back and stuck around. Out with the floppy KW 8k/10k, in with the 14k/21.5k (800/1200). If you know natural frequencies, KW rates are only 1.5hz front and rear. Which is crazy soft! Even if we doubled the spring rate, it’d still be softer than an Evo on OTS ohlins spring rates. This change gets us to 2.1hz/2.2hz which is “sporty” but still pretty soft for a competitive AutoX setup. We’d have to double it again to match the stiffness run on our Evo. Pues el viernes pasado estrené el circuito de @circuit_pau_arnos también estrené el Civic en circuito y estrené lo de correr en lluvia, y que lluvia!! Eso sí, el circuito una pasada, un mini @nuerburgring muy divertido y tecnico. El Civic, un verdadero cochazo que me gustó muchísimo lo bien que se comportaba en circuito y sobre todo con la lluvia, siendo fácil y seguro de llevar, eso sí, he doblado discos de freno 🤣 asi que toca poner rallados. El personal del circuito muy bien, gente muy simpática y dedicada. Y sobre todo muchísimas gracias a @unaipinedapiloto por informarme del trackday y darme unas vueltas de reconocimiento.
