Congratulations to Chris Dyason who set a new national age record in the Open 15 mile time trial on saturday, with an age-adjusted time of 26:57 (raw 34:27) on the F2/15 course! 🏆🥇 The wind direction was favourable for the course and with air pressure low at 1004 fast times were promised. Taking full advantage of the conditions, Leon Atkins (at just 15 years old) was the fastest rider by over 3 minutes, with 27:28. This may be the second fastest ever 15, behind Bialoblocki’s 26. Stunning. Susan Semple headed the female results with 35:01 and Robert Golding was fastest road bike with 33:36. The tandems saw the usual impressive performance by Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott with 28:49. This was the first race in the new IRONMAN Pro Series that implemented the new Race Ranger technology to help prevent drafting on the bike. While I wasn’t sure how useful it would actually be, in reality it was a great tool in getting a grasp on the actual distances between athletes. . Some certainly seemed to use the lights to get even closer and flirt with penalties, and only giving space when seeing a red light which signals being in the draft zone. But most were sensible and kept enough space that a red light would only pop up when passing (or for tight turns/aid stations). . I ended up riding solo for the last 50 miles of the bike and came away with the 5th fastest bike split on the day. And am glad to know it was likely a much fairer race with Race Ranger around, and that a good result doesn’t rely on questionable tactics anymore. . @race.ranger #ironman #triathlon #raceranger #swimbikerun #cycling #timetrial

REPORT & INTERVIEW: @al_lux (@wightlinkwightmountainrt ) and @chrissimurray (@britarmycycling ) were fastest in the open and female categories at the @charlottevillecc 25-mile event in Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. Luxford clocked 53-21 to win by 14 seconds in his first open time trial of the season, while second was @rafcycling ’s Michael Barnes in 53-35 and third was @jeremyredford72 (Army Cycling) in 54-13. Meanwhile Redford’s team-mate at Army Cycling, Chris Murray was fastest female in 1-00-14, with no other solo women taking part. Although this was his first event of the season, Luxford has plenty more planned including the VTTA London and Home Counties 10 next weekend and the Hounslow and District Wheelers 100 later in May. Meanwhile, Chris Murray also has plans for the season ahead. “It was seven degrees, windy and raining whilst I warmed up, so at least I had the opportunity to make any adjustments to my set-up due to the weather before my start; and I did!” she said. “The course is pretty much two laps of the main section of the Bentley course - a course I like quite a lot - with a stonking headwind out, but then the reward of a luscious tailwind back. The headwind was graft though! “Recording just over the hour it was one of my slowest 25s for quite a long time, but up there in terms of power I have managed to produce for a 25. “With three Army and one RAF on the start line, it was a valuable run-through for all of us ahead of our Inter-Services TT in a fortnight, and I’m pleased with how our Army team is shaping up for that. “It was a brilliantly run event as ever from Charlottesville CC, especially considering the challenging weather conditions!” Top tandem was the pairing of Mary Corbett and Norman Harvey (@sotonia.cc CC) who covered the course in 1-21-32. #cyclingtimetrials #timetrial #roadbike #ttbike #cycling #cyclinglife #triathlon

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of racing at Pimbo. Despite the heavy rain along the route, the weather cleared up as we got closer to Pimbo, and it was sunny and dry. The experience brought back fond memories of the GCN weekend from last year. Although the temperature was lower than last year, it was still a delight to catch up with Ruth and Liv, even though we missed the rest of the group. I enjoyed the 32-mile race. The peloton was shaken by a few attacks, but none succeeded. After all the efforts, it all came down to a bunch sprint, and I managed to finish in 7th place. However, I was disappointed with my sprint as I knew I had more to give, and with my lousy judgement of timing, I should have started the sprint earlier. This Sunday I went to the Wiscombe Park HillClimb event near Exeter. It was brilliant, we saw lot’s of cool cars, and met some real characters, class-acts and daredevil’s all the same. On Thursday 26th April members of the NAUT Cycling Club & Race Team took part in the rescheduled first round of this year's Wightlink Island Renewables Evening Time Trial Series, held on the Colemans 10 course. . Adding to the challenge of riding as hard as you can against the clock, the riders faced unseasonably cold, wet & blustery conditions, for what was most entrants first solo TT of the season. . 17 NAUT club members were included in the 76 riders entered, and most certainly seem to have hit the season at full gas. . Notable performances included: . Chris Till took 2nd place overall, with a time of 22:46. . Charis Jones - winning the Ladies category in 28:13 (on her road bike). . Eric Williams - 2nd Junior, finishing in 24:30. . In the Veterans category - Alex Paul 2nd (25:01), & Paul Forster 5th (25:26). . In the Vet 50+ category - NAUT riders filled the top four places: Martin Piper in 1st (24:27), Sean Williams 2nd (25:13), Martin Jackson 3rd (26:13 - relishing the "mtb-like conditions") & Lawrence Edmonston 4th (26:29). . Steve Taylor, continuing his winning ways, took the 60+ Veterans category win (by 4 minutes), in 26:52. . Devon Badman took 3rd (25:14), & Rollo Dixon 4th (25:41), in the Road Bike category. . Fantastic to see everyone enjoying pushing themselves against the clock, and not discouraged by the conditions. 》Race Report 》CTT National Road Bike TT Championships Conditions were more than grim this morning as some of the team members headed South-East to a Sawtry - a sleepy village on the A1 south of Peterborough which was to hosts this year's event. The course was set on the B1043, a quiet road (well at that time of morning it was!). It measured 22.4 miles and riders had to tackle small ‘B’ road roundabouts no less than 16 times! 2 laps of this course soon saw riders flying along it from all directions. All set out on road bikes only; many riders braved the 6 degree temperatures and sideways wind to battle around the course. First up was the women’s event and our team had @victoriawebb399 , @katekirkland03 and @lynneybiddulph taking to the start line for the women. All performed superbly on the course with best actual time of the team going to Vicky Webb - breaking the hour mark with 59:34, finishing 10th overall and 3rd in her Age Group. Kate Kirkland was next to cross the finish line in a superb time of 1:03:41 finishing 17th overall and 3rd also in her Age Group. Sweeping up the women was seasoned Time Trialist Lynney Biddulph who stopped the clock on 1:03:22 to finish 15th overall, taking the Gold medal in her Age Group. The men of BtB were represented today by @steviebiddulph and Dave Ellis. 134 riders entered in the open event, with only 80 riders crossing the finish line on the day. Bidders rolled across the line in 57:56 with Dave not far behind in a great time of 58:48. A presentation took place after the event where 2nd overall rider, former World Tour Pro Alex Dowsett (finishing in a rapid 47:09) was awarded the Bidlake Memorial Award. This is a very prestigious annual award and definitely one to have your name against in the record books. So even more special today as well as Alex to have three more winners of the Bidlake Award there including BtB’s very own Lynney B. Chapeau to all! REPORT & INTERVIEWS: Tom Scorer (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) took his second open victory of the season on the same course in the @kernow_racing_team 10, while road bike competitor Kerry Paul (@duchyvelo ) was the quickest woman. Despite taking place on the reasonably flat Cornwall course road bikes were a popular choice with six of the top seven women on them. The event also saw Ian Matthews and Len Pascoe presented with CTT certificates of honour. Between them they have contributed over 110 years to district events. The S6/10 course sees competitors start outside Tresillian in Cornwall before heading out and back along the B3275 to the turn at Brighton. Veteran rider Scorer was the only rider to break the 22-minute mark to take victory in a winning time of 21 minutes and 44 seconds – an average speed of over 27.6 miles per hour. The 43-year-old also won the Kernow Racing Team event on the same course last month posting a quicker time of 21-22 on that occasion. A close battle for second saw Oliver Baylin (@giantstorehelston ) finish in 22-17 which was 11 seconds faster than @andrewparnowski (@plymouthcorinthiancc ). “Variable conditions made for a tough outing on the course,” said Scorer. “Rain, hail and sunshine were all encountered in the 10 miles. What a day for the 1st race of the season with the Chain Of Rocks Duathlon. We've been putting in a lot of work since last season, and today was to see if it has done anything. Safe to say it has. Format was 1.5 mile run, 12 mile bike, and another 1.5 mile run. I managed to be faster in all disciplines than last year and also managed to snag 1st in age group and a 5th overall. @sdc_1978 absolutely crushed it with a top 10 spot and 1st in age group too! We all fought horrible, gusty crosswinds, which made for some sketchy spots on the bike leg. Was great to see all the locals as race season is warming up. @howcatrolls ran the go St. louis half marathon yesterday and still got a podium spot! REPORT & INTERVIEW: Talented teenager @leon_atkins_ earned a second consecutive win with success at @cambridgecyclingclubuk 15-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon, while Susan Semple was fastest female. Riding for 258 Protégé, 15-year-old Atkins clocked 27-28 to continue his fine rise, registering what is thought to be the second-fastest ever time on the course behind Marcin Biabolocki. VeloRefined Rule 5’s Kevin Tye took second place in 30-29, ahead of third-placed Myles Davidson for @bigfootcc in 30-48. In his only other event this year, Atkins also won the @hemelcycling 16-mile time trial on March 24. In the women’s event Semple set a mark of 35-01 that saw the @legatoracingteam rider clinch victory ahead of Jen Clegg (@teambottrill ) in 36-47, with Helen Roby (@yourriderevolution ) third in 37-26. “In terribly cold conditions I was really pleased to be fastest woman and also achieving a lifetime 15-mile personal best,” said Semple. “I changed my training over the winter and focused more on my nutrition and hydration which seems to be paying off. It was a great event, big thanks to Chris and his team.” Fastest tandem went to @newburyvelo pair Rachel Elliott and Ian Greenstreet in 28-49, with John Swanbury and Kate Churchill runners-up for @vcbaracchi in 36-22. Quickest on age adjusted time in +7-30 was Chris Dyason (Cambridge CC). Riders faced another cold day with a breeze from the north east which proved favourable for this course. Light rain showers were a feature of the day, just adding to the discomfort but the air pressure was low so times generally were a little faster than Spindata’s predictions. „Tag der Arbeit“ Zeitfahren in Weiden 🥇 Pünktlich vor den anstehenden Weltcups habe ich von meinem Partner @innosnack eine neue Lieferung erhalten. In dem großen Paket war neben den Energieriegeln #innobar auch das Müsli von #innosnack dabei. So konnte ich mich für das heutige Trainingsrennen in Weiden gleich optimal vorbereiten. Mein Favorit bei den #innocrunch Müslis ist „Schoko-Mandel“, allerdings schmecken alle drei Varianten richtig lecker. 😋 Beim Zeitfahren in Weiden wurde ich meiner Favoritenrolle gerecht und konnte das Rennen vor @michael.teuber und @jkcyklinge in der faktorisierten Wertung gewinnen. Ich musste allerdings der nicht vorhandenen Frische aufgrund der eher mäßigen Erholung seit unserem Familiennachwuchs Tribut zollen und ging in Runde zwei ein. Ich konnte die anvisierte Leistung nicht abrufen und weiß, dass ich für den bevorstehenden Weltcup in Belgien auf jeden Fall mehr zeigen muss, wenn ich dort auch auf dem Podest stehen möchte. Es war wieder eine schöne Veranstaltung in der Oberpfalz. REPORT & INTERVIEWS: @bideaurichard (Pendle Forest CC) was the only rider to break the 53-minute mark as he battled to the open victory at the VTTA (North Lancs & Lakes) 25, while @debbie.moss.1238 (Springfield Financial Racing Team) was the quickest woman. Cold conditions of around five degrees Celsius greeted riders for the Sunday morning event and hampered times. The L2524 saw riders start outside Levens in Cumbria before completing two laps of an out and back course along the A590 to the turn at Lindale. Unlike the fast 10-mile event which uses the same course, at the end of the first lap riders had to climb back up the slope start to the turn back at Levens. Riders only had to tackle the climb back to the top turn once as the finish came before the road went upwards on the second lap. Bideau, aged 53, posted a winning time of 52 minutes and 51 seconds to claim his first open victory of the season. David Thompson (Rock to Roll CC) led the battle for second stopping the clock in 53-27, while John Bardsley (360cycling) finished third (54-15). “It was a very unpleasant ordeal rather than a pleasure,” said Bideau. “It was dry but extremely cold and a bit too windy for fast times. “The five degrees temperature meant that it wasn’t too comfortable in a skinsuit. It’s always nice to get the win, but personally it was far from my best for that course due to the conditions.” In the women’s event veteran rider Moss was the only rider to beat the hour benchmark stopping the clock in 59 minutes and 45 seconds. Rachel Brown (Brother UK - Team OnForm) led the battle behind taking second in 1-01-01, while Theresa Taylor (Springfield Financial Racing Team) finished third (1-08-39). “It was freezing and horribly hard,” said Moss. “It’s not a bad course but was just so cold, my legs don’t work properly when it’s cold. “It’s a pretty flat course except for the long climb to the turn which isn’t steep. The first really interesting time was set by EF Cannondale in 19'29"; FDJ and Liv Jayco came really close, but not enough. First team to beat EF time was Vos and Markus' Visma LAB, 9" faster. Great performace for Canyon-SRAM, just 8" short despite starting with 5 elements, after Czapla and Bradbury forfaits. Then it was the turn of Lidl-Trek, 8" faster than everyone else at the intermediate and still with 7 elements: on the final turn Van Dijk and Bäckstedt, 3rd and 4th wheel, crashed; despite that they still managed to beat Visma time for just 0.16", with Realini, slowed down by the crash, coming back and crossing the line in first place! Team SD Worx came very close too, but finished 1" behind!
