2nd Yr reading for Post Grad in Play Therapy. I've read quite alot over the past 1.5 yrs about child development and about the different types of therapy out there & the theory behind them BUT tonight this got me. My personal therapist, tutors, clinical supervisor have been saying since day 1, "Is good enough, ever going to be good enough for you? And there it is, once again in black & white... Meeting the Challenge is Chapter 10. The heading; Be Realistic about Parenthood. Yes, it is the most amazing time and I'm so lucky to have my beautiful girls but they dont write about the hard times in most books. One of the best presents a child can get, a dolls house! Made by the hands of their gifted Daddy. This beauty arrived on Christmas Eve. A present to our girls. It took months but how worth it. The delight I have seen over the months on our girls faces. Every morning, re enacting a scene, a moment. New stories everyday. ☆Language skills developing at a rapid pace. ☆Understanding & knowledge of roles ☆Fine motor skills being perfected ☆Awareness of how I come across at times, scary!! Play is crucial for the developing and happy child. It helps children express their fears and anxiety's. Playing through/with dolls, minatures is a safe distance from reality, but the message gets through to the child. This mid term. Make the time.
