To uncover the hidden forces of nature deep beneath the earth's surface, Captain Nemo used a giant drilling machine to dig through Mount Prometheus. The giant drill can be seen hanging off the side of the volcano. Arabian Coast's courtyard is absolutely stunning. It's incredible how Disney Imagineers made you like you were in an Arabian desert kingdom. Inside one of the entrances for Arabian Coast is a beautiful fountain. It was purely added for aesthetics. I remember when I first saw it I thought to myself, "Wow, Disney didn't need to have this fountain and fancy entrance but they built it anyways because they wanted to!" While walking around Tokyo DisneySea, there was a cart I kept walking by that always had a really long line. I was curious why so many people were waiting in a 15 minute line for a snack. Another treat I tried was a Mickey Churro. I was curious to know what a Mickey Churro was, and I was slightly confused when I was handed one. It looked like a normal churro... And that's because it was (lol). However, if you stare from the top, you'll see the churro is Mickey shaped (Swipe left for a photo)! How adorable is that? 😍 I don't know about you guys but I think all Disney churros should be Mickey shaped! In terms of flavor, it was pretty much a normal churro you can expect at most Disney Parks. The only difference I saw was the sugar was coarser. Let's take a look at some snacks at Tokyo DisneySea! One snack that I was curious about because I kept seeing so many people carry one was Mickey's Castella Cake. It seemed like it was SUPER popular, and I just had to try one. The first thing I noticed when the CM handed me the treat was that it was a bit cold! I wasn't expecting it to be chilly! So how was it? The best way I can describe it is the bread was like a pancake and inside the bread was filled with some creamy caramel. It was really good! After eating the whole thing, I understood why it was so popular among the guests. For dessert, we tried the Almond Jelly. A bit hard to see in the photo but the almond jelly was shaped like Mickey's head. The jelly was light and not overly sweet. You can taste the almond flavor, and it tasted great with the fruits. Overall, it was a nice and light dessert to cap off our experience at Vulcania Restaurant. We also tried some additional items at Vulcania Restaurant. We tried the Fried Rice with Char Siu and Egg (Char Siu is Chinese BBQ Pork). The fried rice was surprisingly pretty good! It was very well seasoned. I loved that they put a lot of egg in the rice. If you plan to get this though, it may not fill you up. When I visited Tokyo DisneySea, I went in 2019 during the Pixar Playtime promotion. Vulcania Restaurant was offering a special Monsters, Inc. set. I decided to get it to try a little of everything. When I ordered, I didn't realize the set came with a drink. I wasn't sure exactly what was available but the CM asked me if I wanted to try their orange soft drink (I think that's what they called it because I can't find anything written on the internet). I like to try new things so I said sure! It wasn't bad; I remember it being sort of like light orange juice. There are still equipment leftover inside Vulcania Restaurant from when it used be a geothermal power station. There is an active generator that routes its power to a couple of transformers. Vulcania Restaurant is a buffeteria style restaurant where you pick your dishes and pay your food at the cashier. The buffeteria actually goes with the theme of the restaurant. The backstory is that the restaurant is a mess hall that serves Captain Nemo's hardworking crew. The Terravator opens up to the Base Station. It's here where you'll board your subterranean vehicle. As you make your way to the loading dock, you'll hear over the radio that there is increased seismic and volcanic activity. However, the person manning the station stepped out and is not there to pass the message to the dispatcher to cease their operation. Unaware of the warnings, your vehicle gets dispatched anyways! Your vehicle travels at a leisurely pace, and takes you through the Crystal Cavern and Giant Mushroom Forest. Along the way, you'll see peculiar plants and animals. As you continue with your excursion, Mount Prometheus shakes and causes your vehicle to veer off course. Suddenly, you're following a route Captain Nemo has never gone through before. Your vehicle comes upon a vast Subterranean Sea in which it has developed its own atmosphere. It is at this point you know the excursion has turned incredibly unpredictable. You somehow find your way into the heart of the volcano where you come face to face with a lava creature! It readies to attack when suddenly the volcano erupts and pushes you out of harm's way! The vehicle zips and twists through a lava tube and you emerge out of the volcano where you find another tunnel that leads you back to the unload station. Whew that was a close call! Along the walls, you can see illustrations of some of the discoveries Captain Nemo and his team found while inside the center of the earth. They've found the Crystal Caverns, Tunnel of the Winds, Grand Cathedral, and the Lake of Fire. While walking around Mysterious Island, I noticed these placards on the railings. It turned out to be notes from Captain Nemo! The notes are about key areas around the island with a quick description of what those things are. While the texts are the same, the images are different depending on your current viewpoint of the land. Sometimes notes were added or removed depending if you can see those key landmarks from where you were standing. Looking up towards Mount Prometheus, visitors of the Mysterious Island can see that Captain Nemo is conducting some sort of research on the volcano. A large drilling machine hangs suspended from a giant crane.
