Bowen joined Parks' We The People late that decade, and toured and recorded with Dennis Brown, who was then Gibbs' marquee artiste. He played on several of Brown's hit songs including the classic Promised Land. In the 1980s, he was a founding member of the all-star 809 Band, and also played with the Firehouse Crew which backed top acts like Luciano and Sizzla. R.I.P. to a true LEGEND in reggae music. Winston “Bo Pee” Bowen. His life was filled with accolades yet his demeanor was the definition of what it means to be humble. If you listen to Reggae music you have listened to Bo Pee’s guitar playing. Member of the Aggrovators, The Revolutionaries, ROOTS RADICS, We The People Band, etc. He has played on so many of your favorite albums it might be easier to mention what he didn’t play on. Discogs has him listed playing on 459 albums and that’s not his full catalog. Artists like Dennis Brown, Jackie Mittoo, Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs, Alton Ellis, Scientist, Johnny Clarke, Eek a Mouse, Sugar Minott, Jacob Miller, the list of works goes on and on. We took this picture on our first trip to Jamaica in 2005. Sitting in on a @djliondub session. He was so laid back and welcoming and treated us as equals. We interviewed him and just hung out and watched him crush the session. A lot of people called him Uncle Bo Pee and it’s the perfect description. True Reggae Royalty and a great example of character and how to treat others- Rest in Power Uncle!!

“Guitarist Winston “Bo Pee” Bowen, a stalwart musician who worked with reggae music's elite artistes, died here today at age 62. His son, Jeovannie Bowen, told the OBSERVER ONLINE that his father suffered a heart attack at home and died shortly after at Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston. The bespectacled Bowen started his career in the mid-1970s, first recording at Channel One studio. He then became a member of noted bands such as Lloyd Parks and We The People, 809 and the Firehouse Crew, touring with artistes such as Dennis Brown, Ziggy Marley and Luciano. In recent years, Bowen recorded and toured with the Inna Di Yard group and was a member of U Roy's band.
