THE MANAGER SERIES - PT 5 Clearly with too much time on my hands, and with more and more managerial talent becoming available in retro format, I’ve decided to take a look at one of the managers and his client list in the WWF… SLICK! From the Hasbro era perspective, Slick’s been one of the most anticipated figures from the @zombiesailorstoys line. Synonymous with the golden era of the WWF, he (like all the other managers) was a big miss from the original figures, and once the Retro Jimmy Hart was released, the floodgates thankfully opened! The Doctor Of Style had such an eclectic mix of talent on his roster, many of whom we have figures for. What I came home from @adelaidecomicandtoyfair but didn't want was a ruddy awful cold so, while I recuperate, let's look at some photos I took the other day of what I came home with and did want. I'm proud of myself for sticking to my collection rules and not going wild on impulse buys (which was nearly a thing, based on all that caught my eye during bump-in). First up was my twice-yearly stand purchase from @ultimate_figure_protection, which was both a necessity and a pleasure. • Next was an utterly gorgeous, near-mint Transformers G1 Powerdasher F1 Type (or "Aragon", if you prefer). These friction-motored funsters were among the first (if not the first) TF mail-away toys from 1984 ("send proof of purchase and cash to...") and were a random draw - you didn't know which of the trio you'd receive. I had the Drill Type/"Zetar" and stopped there, so I've never even seen this mech in person before. He's great! A perfect slice of 80s robot goodness with killer chrome, really tight joints (so tight that turning his head for transformation was... worrying) and a gorgeous colour scheme. Plus, look at him go! Forty years and zippy as ever. • @powerofnostalgia was kind enough to do a deal on this Star Wars Micro Collection TIE Fighter and, after a clean and @juszcosplay working her magic on the stickers, it's come up a treat. I didn't realise at the time this was the last vehicle in the set and brings me within spitting distance of owning the entire range. That's nuts. Anyhow, a nice display stand is on its way to me for this beauty. • But the big purchase came during bump-in... the one thing I wasn't about to leave behind (and for which @mrbenjum loaned me cash until I could hit the ATM, thank you again). This LJN short-haired Andre the Giant from 1986 is bloody beautiful. And it was 15 times cheaper than the asking price at another stall in the same venue. Talk about a bargain. One fig bath got him to thus point, so I'm confident he'll spruce up even further. But if not, who would complain?
