Next up… This actually took much longer to set up than I anticipated. It’s been a year since I found this at Toylanta 2023 from my buddy @proffitt766 who ALWAYS brings the heat to every show. He’s got that vintage fantasy stuff that I love. This was actually my second FoF. The one I originally bought a few years back was nice and nearly complete but when I saw this example on IG prior to Toylanta, I had to jump on it. Two things that I forgot regarding this piece is how DUSTY it was and that it came with a broken catapult tab. Cleaning this thing is a…. labor of love 😵💫 and at times pretty nerve-racking. This example came with a very thick coat of dust and soot which thankfully wasn’t hardened but for a playset with so many difficult nooks and crannies where something could easily break, get loose or tear - it’s challenging. Especially trying to clean on or around the decals which are throughout the playset. Every piece was very dusty… every … single.. piece. While cleaning, I came across the broken catapult tab. Terrible. No way to replace it without unscrewing the roof which was 6 screws if I remember correctly. Flip the thing upside down, unscrew and insert the replacement tab from my other FoF while trying to keep in place all of the other moving parts. New catapult tab works like a charm and after a total of 6+ hours, this thing is finally all cleaned up and ready to go. Pics here show what the playset looks like now, the newly working catapult and lastly, old pics of the playset prior to securing it at the show.. you can see the dust pretty well in those pics. Overall, I’m happy with how this turned out. Did I ever mention that I found this Mako Tigersharks figure for $5 at an indoor flea market? The vendor thought it was a Thundercat figure and threw it in a pile at $5 each.
