When I switched to the M&K 2 in/2 out (MKM29), I kept the 1 out (MKM27). The two outs have a reputation for producing a “drone” sound within a certain RPM bandwidth. Something like between 2500 - 2800 RPM. That may be the case here too, however not a big deal to me. Just another air cooled flat six tone. And besides, RPMs in that range are not lingered upon when driving this 3.2 L through the backroads of Chester County. From the driver’s seat, the combined sound of the intake, RSR headers and the MKM29 as the car accelerates through 3500 to 5500 RPM is a unique mechanical noise that, umh, resonates well. Keeping the MKM27 at the ready should a quieter sound be needed, and as functional Porche art in the meantime. There’s other exhaust systems out there to be enjoyed, too, but for another day. Lower dash resting on duck tail. Addressing the signal light issue from…. too long ago. On jack stands noted a disconnected wire behind left front bumper. Fleetingly thought could this be the problem? No. Here’s the situation Saturday night: the right front signal will flash in hazard mode but not illuminate when main light switch pulled, The left front signal/parking light works but no hazard or signal flash. The hazard lights flash F/R right side only. Tail lights and brake lights are fine. Installation of the M&K 2 in/2 out muffler was easy enough, for clearance from muffler mount bracket +2 muffler gaskets were needed. Not losing weight with this setup - net 2 lbs increase (< 1 kg) yet only 16lbs total. The cookie cutter exhaust tips could have been inspired by a 904 GTS which also resides in the garage albeit a Japanese production in 1:43 scale. Autocross. Hot humid threatening weather while marshaling for an eternity prior to cranking my adrenaline level to 4x ULN for a few minutes. Car was stable. AX skills… no comment. Everything was under control until I started refilling (first of three liters shown on ladder(not a recommended place to leave it)). Then no more photos since back and forth to the oil absorbant/kitty litter twice trying to limit the volume of Swepco on the Persian rug. Also greased the polybronze bushings. Second messiest job. The 915 drain plug was not clean but showing evidence that I miss second to third on occasion. This morning. PA road surface signed as “Oil and Chip”. Thankfully it was more chips and no oil. Noisy surface. On the way to Northbrook C&C which was cool. One other air cooled, mint condish Arena Red 993. Also spoke with owner of an ‘85 Ferrari GTS, who interestingly was Tom Sellick’s roommate in LA when Tom got the audition call for the role of Thomas Magnum. OMFG! His car was amazing with long term ownership. The owner of a ‘69 Camaro Z28 updated me on option packages from the era and why late 70s second Gen Camaros are the least desirable. Mystery not solved and I’m fine with no airbag. Chasing an electrical gremlin controlling signal lights. Just stopped working. Not a fuse. Nothing connection related in the stalk or signal lever that I could see. Anyways. Reassembled for the weekend. Do need to fix it though (this isn’t a BMW…turn signals?? 😆). Kidding. Inspection indicated the connection at the oil cooler was out of spec - tolerance being zero leak. So the evening ends with the bumper off and a catch pan under the cooler. The parts degreaser cleaned the adapters and my hands in 2 seconds. The leak is between the adapter and the cooler. Reassembly soon. #ongoing911project #wrenchdriverepeat #zuffenphilly #oilcooler
