Unfortunately, PPG Deltron is my go to for all of my base coats, but it didn't have the formula to mix this obsolete color code. So I have to go with the next best thing, which is still under PPG, the Omni brand. Soo I forgot to post this one last week, but this is 944 #2 from Pittsburgh PA. And boy it's a nice one! 🤢 It's an '87 951 (944 turbo) with sport seats and LSD, Borbet replica cup wheels, about 7 bottles of milk (all expired in 2011), and a dead mouse. 😐 Not sure if the engine is any good, but it's complete, cranks and makes decent compression numbers. The car came from a repo lot and has no keys, no title, and was previously sitting in a field since 2011. It's got rodent damage everywhere, rust and rot, etc. Trying to save this one would just be an epic mistake lol. 50mm Tial-style blow off valve fitted after @krolltekfabrication welded the v-band flange on for me. After my last post I got asked “Why does your car seem to have more issues than good days?” and it’s true that since the engine swap I’ve had a fair few “teething problems”. But luckily I quite like the tinkering aspect and am pretty handy with the spanners, I dread to think how much it would cost if I had to pay someone else to do all the work 😝 But then sometimes; the working week ends, the sun is still out and the open road gently whispers in my ear. What a way to end the week - am grinning from ear to ear, it’s not even properly tuned yet but between @danstengineering and @krolltekfabrication it goes and sounds incredible. Today was the first time that I’ve driven the car with the cam timing correct and the engine mostly mapped and I was absolutely blown away. Pulls like a train even in low rev/high gear situations and keep pulling until you run out of revs, road, or more often than not, the balls to keep my foot in! Dyno day 2 was another fail - new clutch master cylinder fitted and the plastic nipple for the reservoir feed melted again 😭 @danstengineering sprung into action again (with CO2 this time luckily for the cleanup) and it was the flatbed of shame home. We’d had a very frustrating day anyway chasing an overboost issue that we finally tracked down to a loose banjo on the side of the wastegate. At the least the positive is knowing the turbo can make 26psi at 3000rpm if we ever need it 😳😱🤯 Cracked out the CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) and made an aluminium heatshield for around the master cylinder. Also replaced the fuel lines, clutch cylinder and hose as well as covering everything in fire sleeving before knocking the cam back from max advance to hopefully control EGTs too. Before any of that happened I spent 4 hours cleaning the car outside up on the #Quickjack to neutralise and remove all the remaining extinguisher powder too. Car now runs great as it was crazy rich before - sounds awesome and it only took 15mins of idling on the drive for the acrid fumes of clutch fluid to burn off the exhaust fully. 3rd time lucky then. #Porsche944Turbo #Porsche #Porsche944 #944Turbo #Turbo #Porsche951 #80sCars #Transaxle #ProjectCar #Dyno
