Mutabbaq Zaatar | مطبق زعتر فلسطيني
My husband brought back from Amman pretty much every essential in a palestinain household. From nabulsi cheese, to olive oil, labaneh, fresh sage, and of course there had to be fresh Zaatar! Every time I walked into my kitchen, the aroma of the fresh Zaatar consumed my sense of smell, so you can imagine, I could not wait to make these delicious Zaatar Mutabbaq today!
These are absolutely fabulous on their own with a cup of tea infused with sage, or alongside a middle-eastern breakfast. Thin layers of dough in between which is packed a tone of zaatar, sweet onions, and sour tangy sumac. The bitterness of the zaatar comes through, but is quickly broken by the sweetness of the onions. They're absolutely perfect.
