The RECAP: Seventeen years ago, a girl named Rose goes out for a bike ride and doesn’t return home. The search team finds her, sitting at the bottom of a crater, atop a giant silver hand. In the present day, a team of scientists work together to uncover the mysteries of this hand in a secret research facility, led by Rose herself, now a highly trained physicist. What will they discover? And what of the enigmatic interviewer of the team, who seems to know so much, but reveals so little about himself?
The REVIEW: This sci-fi novel was just plain fun, and I’m sorry it’s been a #backlistBOTM on my shelf since 2016! 🙈 I was so pleasantly surprised by this one — its format (mainly interview transcripts and journal entries) made it perfect to listen to on audio. With a full cast of fantastic narrators, this may be one of the most entertaining audiobooks I’ve ever listened to! This is an action-packed novel full of science and intrigue, and its fast pace never lets up. There’s even a little romance mixed in! The ending made me gasp and left me excited to read the second novel in the series.
The RECOMMENDATION: If you want an action-packed blockbuster of a sci-fi novel, read (or better yet, listen to!) Sleeping Giants!
