Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day - an important day which brings us together to raise awareness around perinatal mental health so that better screening and care is available for those experiencing any type of PMAD and the stigma of perinatal mental illness is reduced around the globe. 🌍👩‍🍼

Birth Trauma Connections Canada took part in Flora’s Walk today with Team Ottawa (1 of 50 walks happening across the country), which raised awareness and funds that will support regional health care strategies and community support programs focusing on perinatal mental health. We are so proud of the members in our community who are making change, we are inspired and fuelled by the words we heard today and we are thankful for the camaraderie we’ve met along the way. Thank you to everyone who made a donation or came out to walk! 👟🌷 🇨🇦

This is the first day of Maternal Mental Health Month, and we are reminded that there are important conversations to be had on how we can do better as a community organization and as individuals because there is still a lot of work to do. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏻

Our stories matter. Our health matters. It shouldn’t have to be this hard for so many birthing people to access the care they need. So if you know someone who you think might be struggling, it’s the perfect time to ask, “How are you finding your days and is there anything I can do to help?” ♥️

And remember that we’re just a message away if you need anything at all. ❤️‍🩹

#worldmaternalmentalhealthday
#worldMMHday
#maternalMHmatters
#floraswalk
#birthtraumaottawa
#birthtraumconnectionscanada
#ottawaperinatalcare
#pregnancy loss
#babyloss
#infantloss
#peersupport
#birthtrauma
#postpartum
#nicubaby
#neonatalcare
#maternalnearmisssurvivor
#postpartumjourney
#traumahistory
#birthtraumaawareness
#birthtraumasurvivor
#traumasensitivecare
#birthtraumasupport
#birthtraumahealing
#birthtraumarecovery
#perinatalmentalhealth
#perinatalsupport
#perinatalgrief
#perinatalhealthcaresupport
#buildingresilience
#communitysupport
