May 1st, 2024 🫶🏽 One thing about these Davis babies is that they’re gonna come on their own time 😅 And at 34 weeks + 5 days, and 12ish hours of preterm labor, Tatum decided to make his unexpected debut at 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. He even waited until his dad’s flight got in just hours after going into labor 🥹 Every prick. Every insulin shot. Every doctor appointment. Every blood pressure check. Every sleepless night. All the pain and worry and stress. It was all worth it. Baby and I are both doing good, just recovering from a pretty rough last 36 hours. A little Auggie update. He does pretty well with our three standing appointments every week, but he is absolutely not happy about any other appointment he has. He cries the second they walk in the room, it's a fight and struggle at times and it can be very emotionally exhausting. We had a few appointments yesterday and had to try a few times to get the labs his nephrologist really needs. He passed his hearing test for his right ear, but the left ear he completely failed. He does have an ear infection and a lot of water on the ear, they are hopeful that is the reason he can't hear out of his left ear. Part of me knows he can hear a little bit out of his left ear. The other part knows UCSF doesn't have us go down and do testing every 4 months just for fun, they obviously have some concerns and it's probably why he isn't talking yet. He may need another surgery, they are going to get together and decide if surgery is the best option for him. He is very high risk so surgery is always terrifying for us. Layla continues to show us all how strong she is and amaze us with her resilience. We’ve already began feeding her breast milk and upped feedings from every 6 hours to 3. Thankfully mommas milk is starting to come in! Yesterday I was discharged which was such a bittersweet feeling. After nearly 3 weeks in the hospital it was so nice to go sleep in my own bed, but emotionally, leaving her has been a challenge that I’m not sure will ever get easier. As I sit here with her laying on my chest I can’t help but thank god for this little miracle. From 2.5 years of battling infertility, 2 miscarriages, to a difficult pregnancy and early delivery, she has been worth every tear and second of pain. I pray for all of those still waiting on their miracle and encourage you not to give up. . ▶︎2024.05.02 ▷3歳8ヶ月 3月ライノウイルスにかかり入院🦠 4月RSにかかり入院🦠 3月から体調不良続いてるそーちゃん🥲 ライノからRSまでの期間2週間とかで ほんまにすぐRS感染してしまい この2ヶ月ほぼ病院か家で過ごしてた😂💦 特にRSはそーちゃん感染すると 重症度高そうやなぁって思ってたら案の定 6日目くらいで呼吸回数30-40回で 呼吸器が拾えないくらいしんどそうで そろそろICU管理かな、、、 ってところで山乗り越えてくれた😭😭 あんなに反応ないくらい しんどうなそーちゃんを見たのは久しぶりで 本当に怖かった💦💦 退院してからも本調子ではなく往診の先生に診てもらい 喘息症状出てるとのことでステロイド内服と吸入。 それでもなかなかスッキリせずなので 毎日ゆるりと生活しております🌿 4月に肺と気管のCT アレルギー検査を行なった結果が出た！ まずは気管のCTを4D撮影みたいなので 見せてもらったら気管気管支軟化症 ほぼ改善が見られるとのこと😳👏🏻👏🏻 実際見ても、かなりへしゃげていた気管部分が 多少まだ残ってるとはいえ症状がほぼなかった！ これでもう気管切開卒業できるのでは！？ と思いたいところだったけど、 肺も成長しているとはいえ やはり慢性肺疾患のダメージがしっかり残っていて 機能していない部分も多々見られた。 そーちゃんが風邪をこじらせると 酸素や呼吸器が必要になる理由は 今は気管気管支軟化症ではなく 慢性肺疾患によるものと考えてよいとのこと。 早産で産まれた子で慢性肺疾患はよく聞くけれど そーちゃんは中等レベル。 大きくなってもマラソンとかサッカーとか 激しい運動は難しいかもしれないけど 人間誰しも普段生活してる時は 肺を全力で使ってるわけではないから 問題ないとのこと。 普段のそーちゃんを見てると 先生の言う意味がわかるなって感じ。 だから、正直驚きはしなかった。 普段の生活と検査結果を照らし合わせて やっぱりそうですよねって思った。 けど、軟化症改善したから 気管切開卒業できるんじゃないのーって 思ってたらそれがちょっと残念🥲 これから療育や幼稚園などにも行くことを考えて 今からが一番体調崩しやすいから 無理に卒業して、 体調崩して呼吸器のサポートが必要ってなったときに 挿菅してICU管理になってしまう。 そうなると眠るお薬使って眠らせてって そーちゃんの身体にも負担がかかる為 5歳ごろまで身体の成長を待ちましょうとのこと。 確かにその意味も分かる、、、、、 めちゃくちゃわかるけど！！！ 卒業したときのメリットもたくさんあるよなぁ、、、 と思いながら結局答えを出すことなく 少し心にモヤモヤを乗せて退院しました😂 そんなバタバタの3,4月を終えて、 ついに渡米まで2ヶ月を切りました🇺🇸 日が近づくにつれて、 色んな方々と話して止められたり。笑 本当にこの選択肢で良かったのかなぁとか 本当にこのタイミングで良かったのかなぁとか マイナスな気持ちになったり。 けど、数ヶ月前に決心したこと。 やっぱり家族で暮らしたいという想い。 アメリカだからそーちゃんの医療が整っていること。 さまざまな人種の中でそーちゃんという個性を 大切に楽しく過ごしてほしいこと。 そーちゃんにとって色んな刺激になると良いな。 大きくなって覚えていないかもしれないけど きっと母の中では忘れられない経験になるだろうね。 しかし、準備はものすごく大変で😇 医療物品が向こうにも似たようなものがあるとはいえ、 心配性な母はとりあえず買えるものは購入。 吸引カテーテル Yガーゼ アルコール綿 総額数万円したな😇😇 普段タダで頂いてるものだから、 普通に買うと高いなぁと思いありがたみを感じた。笑 沖縄のときに学んだ航空会社へ 医療機器や酸素をレンタルする方法も 割とスムーズに出来て医師の診断書待ち。 ポータブル酸素濃縮器で 色々と一悶着あってまだ不透明。笑 首紐交換(マジックテープではなく紐)を 一人で交換するのを練習して出来るようになったし カニューレ交換も落ち着いて出来るようになった。 その他まだまだやらないといけないことはあるけど とりあえずそーちゃんが元気に療育行ってる間に 分単位で用事済ませて頑張ろう。笑 GW後半も楽しい予定が盛りだくさん☺️ 無理せずゆっくり楽しもう👏🏻✨ . . . #超低出生体重児 #未熟児網膜症 #慢性肺疾患 #肺高血圧症 #超未熟児 #未熟児ママ #切迫早産 #絨毛膜下血腫 #早産 #早産児 #NICU #nicu入院中 #nicubaby #25週で出産 #気管切開 #気切っ子 #気切っこ #気管軟化症 #25weekers #Tracheostomy #アメリカ駐在 #アトランタ駐在

Today my eldest, Charlie, turns 13!! 13 years ago I became a mum. I experienced labour for the first time, and at 30 weeks! I was 100% unprepared for this. I hadn’t attended any antenatal classes as they started 3 weeks later, birth plans were not discussed until much later in pregnancy. No one told me that I COULD go in to premature labour, my pregnancy was text book up until this point. To say I was scared was an understatement, I took the pain relief they offered without knowing what it would do, any side effects. I went in to this completely blind and panicking I wish I had known more; I wish I had asked more questions during my few midwife visits. I wish I had techniques to keep me calm. Despite all the panic and anxiety Charlie’s birth was very quick; 90 minutes!!! He weighed 3lb 5oz which is a good weight for a 30 weeker. He spent 7 weeks in NICU and came home weighing 4lb 13oz The last photo is him with his NICU bestie who is 4 days older than him! #birthday #teenager #prematurebaby #nicu #nicubaby

Anne-Marije en Mara zijn momenteel bezig met een onderzoek naar de voedingszorg van prematuren en de informatievoorziening daaromtrent. In dit onderzoek hopen zij in kaart te brengen hoe de informatievoorziening wordt ervaren door ouders/verzorgers van prematuren op het gebied van voedingszorg en hoe informatie rondom voeding het beste beschikbaar gesteld kan worden. Kortom, een erg belangrijk en waardevol onderzoek. Mocht je nog aanvullingen voor Anne-Marije en Mara hebben, laat het me dan vooral weten. Wat kan bijvoorbeeld volgens jou worden verbeterd op het gebied van voedingszorg van prematuren? Wat heb je als positief of juist als negatief ervaren aan de voedingszorg tijdens de couveuseperiode en/of het eerste levensjaar? Wat had je vooraf graag geweten over het voeden van een premature baby? En op welke manier en/of van wie had je - achteraf bezien - graag informatie rondom het voeden van prematuren willen krijgen? Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day - an important day which brings us together to raise awareness around perinatal mental health so that better screening and care is available for those experiencing any type of PMAD and the stigma of perinatal mental illness is reduced around the globe. 🌍👩🍼 Birth Trauma Connections Canada took part in Flora’s Walk today with Team Ottawa (1 of 50 walks happening across the country), which raised awareness and funds that will support regional health care strategies and community support programs focusing on perinatal mental health. We are so proud of the members in our community who are making change, we are inspired and fuelled by the words we heard today and we are thankful for the camaraderie we’ve met along the way. Milanahs still kicking this pneumonias butt! However I can hear the wetness and rattling creeping back in.. I’m worried the medication wasn’t strong enough and the pneumonia is still there lingering around, waiting for its opportunity to stir things up again. It seems like this happens everytime, the first round isn’t strong enough and there’s nothing to do but wait for shit to hit the fan again before we can do anything about it. We’re being proactive by keeping our distance from people and other small friends as we can’t risk the chance of her catching something else on top of the pneumonia and that potentially landing her back in the hospital. For the time being we’ve been spending lots of time outside enjoying the nice weather. Unfortunately we ended up having to miss Milanah’s endocrinology appointment when she was sick, we’ve rescheduled the appointment to the end of July.
