Good Morning 🌞 Yesterday I finished the Arc of Scythe Trilogy by @nealshusterman. For those who know me, I am a fantasy girl but I love putting in a dystopian novel here and there. And I have to say I quite enjoyed this series. Since I work in tech, I am able, maybe, to understand more certain concepts (like the Thunderhead). Usually I avoid reading about tech (hence why fantasy) but I have to say although I would prefer a dragon over a Scythe, seeing a glimpse of this imaginative future is something I was not expecting. Just Gleanings left now and I’m looking forward to see where it will take me. #bookworm #bookblogger #bookstagramming #bookstagrammers #bookstafriendz #bookgram #bookgram #bookgram #book #bookwormlife #bookphotography #bookig #bookblogging #booksbooksbooks #bookclubselection #bookinfluencer #booklovers #booknerd #bookclub #booknerdigans #bookaddict #readingtime #bookrecommendations

Dear Bookstagrammers, Trust you are well and in good health! Another book review is here and this time I am reviewing a book in my language ‘Kaħlani u l-Fatati kull kulur’. The book is written by Clare Azzopardi and Leanne Ellul with the illustations of Romont Willy and was gifted to me by Merlin. This book is about ghosts that lives in the train station of Birkirkara. This book review will be in my language and spoiler free. QOTD: Are you scared of ghosts? Dan il-ktieb huwa maqsum f’żewġ partijiet.L-ewwel storja hija fuq il-Fatat Kaħalni li jgħix fl-istazzjon tal-Ferrovija ta’ Birkirkara li jivvinta storja waħda wara l-oħra speċjalment dwar patalott żebgħa li sieħbi Safrani jiftakar tant tajjeb. Minn naħa l-oħra fil-ktieb hemm it-tieni storja li hija fuq storja ta’ imħabba li seħħet nhar l-Imnarja. Trid timmaġina l-Kaħlani jkanta fuq l-imħabba, fjuri u namur! Dan hu ktieb adattat ħafna għal tfal żgħar fl-eta’. Hija storja li tista’ tinqara mill-ġenituri imma wkoll mit-tfal infushom speċjalment minħabba li l-ktieb għandu tipa kbira li tagħmel il-qari faċli. Huwa ktieb tajjeb għal min għandu id-dislessja li jagħti anke opportunita’ ta’ qari lil kulħadd. L-istorja hija ħelwa imens fejn it-tfal mhux ħa jiddejjqu jesploraw l-avventuri ta’ Kaħlani u sħabu. Ktieb li nirrakomandaħ ħafna! Prosit ħafna Clare Azzopardi u l-Merlin li qed toħorġu kotba tal-ġenn u inklussivi. #SpringReading #Bookworm #CozySpringDays #ReadingTime #BookwormLife #EscapeIntoBooks #bookblogger #bookstagramming #bookstagrammers #bookstafriendz #bookgram #bookgram #bookgram #book #bookphotography #bookig #bookblogging #booksbooksbooks #bookclubselection #bookinfluencer #booklovers #booknerd #bookclub #booknerdigans #bookaddict #bookrecommendations ---

Selected this book from the library shelves but although a good story I didn’t think it reflected the title of the book although there was references to gloves. The main character was a Quacker and the book told of her struggle with her beliefs, persecution of the Quackers in England and the journey and life in America (the New Wirld). #leahfleming #theglovemakersdaughter #bookclubs #bookclubsofinstagram #bookclubstagram #bookclubselection #reading #bookreaders #bookreaderscommunity #bookreadingtime

🩷📚 BOOK REVIEW 🩷📚 (no spoilers!) We were kindly gifted The Guests by @nikkismith_author and @penguinrandomhouse and it makes the perfect holiday read for fans of thriller books! “WELCOME TO PARADISE! Or so the staff say as they greet the Hamiltons on the pristine shores of the idyllic Maldives resort. And it starts off that way: snorkelling in the serene blue sea, champagne picnics on powder-white sand, and moonlit walks under the stars. But lies lurk beneath the luxury, because each of the guests has a secret… and they’re not the only ones. Months later, a grisly discovery is made. Whatever happened to the Hamiltons? And how did their once-in-a-lifetime trip turn into the holiday from hell?” 🩷 Very easy reading. 🩷 We liked that the story was retold by every character, so you got every person’s perspective. 🩷 The characters were not always who you thought they were. And they went to huge lengths to keep their secrets! 🩷 Clock countdown chapters created exciting build-up to the ending. Overall, we enjoyed reading this for our book club read and would recommend it for your next summer holiday read 🛬🏖️📚 #bookreview #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookreviewing #bookclubofinstagram #bookclubsofinstagram #bookclubpick #bookclubreads #bookclubstagram #bookclubselection #bookclubbooks #wildreadersbookclub

Book review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My sister gave me this book for my birthday last year, but I was delayed in reading it so that I could be done right before my book club discussion today. The ladies in my club gave this an average rating of 3.7. I appreciated reading a historical fiction novel about the south that wasn’t about the Civil War. I liked that this covered a period in time I knew little about. I found the book a little slow at first, and some of the main character development was inconsistent. One other criticism of the book was that the plot was a little formulaic: young girl faces an obstacle, overcomes it, and has a happy ending. Io stall I still enjoyed this book and would recommend it for fans of historical fiction that want to break free from common themes/topics. Definitely some interesting things to be learned about growing indigo and a lesser known female figure in American history. #historicalfiction #theindigogirl #booksbooksbooks #book #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookclubs #bookclubselection

#𝕣𝕖𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕤 I hope to reintroduce some of my old (read 1+ years ago) favorites that I still highly recommend—starting with a 2020 favorite. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙨 by Jojo Moyes Genre: Historical Fiction ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5) 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧(5) - Julia Whalen Format: Audio on Audible Published: October 8, 2019 First read: March 2020 Soundtrack: The Price - The Steeldrivers On the surface, Giver of Stars follows five Depression Era librarians who spread literacy and books via a WPA-funded Pack Horse Library. Margery, Alice, Beth, Izzy, and Sophia come from distinct backgrounds, yet they band together as they work at the library. When they threaten to expose the local coal mine owner for the person he is, the library and the character of the women themselves come under attack. Through this narrative, Moyes highlights the power of books and the lengths some will go to keep that knowledge. I loved the way Julia Wahlen brought this book to life. The plot gets heavy sometimes, yet Moyes’ writing keeps you hooked, and Julia’s voice keeps you calm. The writing is excellent and the plot is easy to follow, with few to no holes. Our librarian’s inner turmoil felt logical and their heartbreak real. Margary and Alice have incredible evolution as they both contest society’s ideal vision of a proper wife. A must-read for historical fiction lovers, this also is an excellent pick for a book club. The Pack Horse Libraries were very real and helped spread literacy in isolated Appalachian communities over a 9 year period. With commentary on the idea of book bands, and the thought that women should be meek and follow, so much insight is woven into this book. After reviewing my 2020 reads, I did not feel anything was five(5) stars at the time, but for the time I have thought about this book, it deserves nothing less! Do you reflect on old reads? I currently keep my annual favorites on shelves on Goodreads and review them from time to time.

Dear Bookstagrammers, I trust you are well and in good health! Another book review is here. I am reviewing a book that goes back to the 1890s, a Victorian tale with an arranged marriage and an intriguing plot. The book is "The Girl from Columbia" by Julian Rodriguez. My review of the book is my honest opinion, and it's spoiler-free. In New Jersey, a cruel man decides to plot an arranged marriage for his son. The only thing he wants for this marriage to happen is not the happiness of his son, Joseph Johnson. The industrialist Samuel expects that the marriage with Elizabeth Edwards, the beautiful daughter of the local doctor, might be beneficial for himself as well. Little did he know that his son had taken interest in someone that threatens what he wanted to do. Joseph arrived from London to see his father's property, and while riding through the dunes, he came across Isabel, who lived in a two-room cabin. This 18-year-old had a very traumatic past. But Joseph still fell in love with her. Little did Joseph know that when Isabel was younger, she almost succeeded in poisoning his father. This book is amazing! A very dark tale that keeps you up during the early hours of the morning reading this tale. Isabel is indeed a mysterious character that conveys terror, mystery, and suspicion. What a beautiful book to read! Very fast-paced and indeed a story with a good plot! I truly recommend this book. Well done, Julian Rodriguez, for this amazing story. #Repost @onceuponamaltesereader with @get.repost ・・・ Dear Bookstagrammers, Trust you are well and in good health! Surpise surpise! I have an audiobook review and I am reviewing Babette: The Many Lives, Two Deaths, and Double Kidnapping of Dr. Ellsworth" by Ross Eliot. This is a very gripping narrative that delves into the extraordinary life of Dr. Ellsworth, a character whose existence is marked by horrible events and unexpected twists. Eliot masterfully weaves together a tale of intrigue, suspense, and mystery, capturing the reader's attention from the very first page. The review is spoiler free. This audiobook follows the remarkable journey of Dr. Ellsworth, a seemingly ordinary individual whose life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes entangled in a series of bizarre events. From multiple kidnappings to encounters with enigmatic figures, Dr. Ellsworth's life is anything but ordinary. Eliot's storytelling shines through as he navigates the intricate web of plot twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end (as it did to me!). The characters are richly drawn, each with their own motivations and secrets, adding depth and complexity to the narrative. Dear Bookstagrammers, Trust you are well and in good health! What sets "Babette" apart is its ability to blend elements of mystery, suspense, and psychological thriller into an extraordinary story. It is a captivating read that will appeal to fans of suspenseful fiction. Well done to the author! Qotd: Do you listen to audio books? As part of our recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the KSS Book Club selected R.F. Kuang’s Yellowface as the May read. Told through the lens of the narrator June Hayward—a fledgling author struggling to make a name for herself—we follow her trials and tribulations as she assumes a false identity to publish a novel stolen from a distinguished Asian author following her untimely, accidental death. Kuang’s novel unfolds gracefully with incisive, witty commentary and offers an incendiary anchor for conversations to challenge our perceptions of identity, cultural appropriation, and white privilege. Would you read? If you have read, we’d love to know your thoughts! #FridayFirmCulture #AAPI #inspireinclusion #bookclubselection #KSSbookclub #diverseauthors

#Repost @onceuponamaltesereader with @get.repost ・・・ Dear Bookstagrammers, Trust you are well! "The Heaven Spot" by Mary Francis Hill is a poignant and deeply affecting novel that explores the complexities of love, loss, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of rural America, Hill's narrative weaves together the lives of disparate characters whose fates become intertwined in unexpected ways. At the heart of the story is the titular "Heaven Spot," a mysterious graffiti symbol that serves as a catalyst for the novel's events. As the characters grapple with their own demons and search for meaning in their lives, the Heaven Spot becomes a symbol of hope and transcendence, offering solace in the midst of despair. Hill's prose is lyrical and evocative, drawing readers into a world that is at once familiar and strange. Through vivid descriptions and vividly drawn characters, she brings to life the small town of Sweetwater and its inhabitants, capturing the rhythms of rural life with sensitivity and insight. What sets "The Heaven Spot" apart is its exploration of themes such as forgiveness, redemption, and the search for belonging. As the characters confront their past traumas and struggles, they are forced to reckon with the consequences of their actions and the possibility of finding redemption in unexpected places. Moreover, Hill's novel is a testament to the power of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit. Read this book in my early 20s and then reading it again after over a decade. I made my 8 year old son read it and the way he interpreted the book just amazed me. I would encourage you to either read it to your kids or make them read it. It's a tiny book which can be read within a day. Lessons learned from Who Moved My Cheese: 1. Be prepared for change. 2. When things change, keep moving. Let go of the past and move on. 3. It's important to learn to be open-minded to change. 4. Imagining what might be on the other side can inspire you move on and change. 5. Use fear to make you take action instead of paralyze you. In conclusion don't be stuck on who moved your cheese -- let go of the old cheese and go find your new cheese. #book2of2022 #Bookstoreadbeforeyoudie #telugublogger #womenwhoread #girlswhoread #browngirlswhoblog #selfdevelopmentbooks #selfdevelopmentjunkie #selfdevelopmenttools #telugublogger #browngirlswhoblog #bookstoreadbeforeyoudie #bookclubofinstagram #bookclubreads #bookclubs #womenwhoread #bookclub #bookclubs #bookclubbook #bookclubsofinstagram #bookclubreads #bookclubstagram #bookclubpick #bookclubread #bookclubselection #bookclubbooks #bookclubbing #bookclubmeeting #bookclubdaily #instabookclub

The Atlas of Us by Kristin Dwyer Loved this one. Not a genre I usually read. But I was draw. To the nature aspect (a group of kids rehabilitating a trail in the western sierras). I did not expect such a compelling story with some heft exploring grief and delving into themes of anger, depression and sadness as our main character Atlas journeys to find herself after the death of her dad and losing herself. It’s a beautiful portrayal of the prices of healing and reinventing oneself. This one made me cry several times.

Best first chapter ever!! From the first lines of this book, CLEOPATRA and FRANKENSTEIN drew us into this love story. It was the perfect way to meet that someone. On the perfect night. From the flirtatious banter to the pizza to the stairwell. We loved how Cleo and Frank’s story began. By the middle of the book there was a lot we didn’t like. We didn’t like her at times. Other times we didn’t like him. And their friends… and what happened… but we couldn’t put it down. When the story was over…. what we didn’t like we really despised. We didn’t like how it ended. But that’s life isn’t it? And that’s what made this book a good read. The search for happiness and the need to work through our baggage before we can be with someone else. What real life is all about. Life with all its flaws. Love with all its struggles. #bookclubpick #bookclubselection #bookclubreads #bookclubread #bookclubbook #bookclubbooks #bookclub #bookclubofinstagram #bookclubsofinstagram #bookclubs

Had my best GFs over last night for “Boozy Bookclub” where we never read books, and instead drink booze 🍷 SWIPE ➡️ But since they’ve read The Rip I turned the night onto chatting about MY book (because it’s all about me, right) My friend Lou never reads… EVER… And read The Rip in 4 days and my friend Jules read it on the night of the launch. Shandel read it before even being published. My friend Kinga let her daughter read it 😱 Amy loved it (and she reads and watches all the same things as me). And Kel… she still hasn’t even read The Shallows 😂😂😂 Truly, it was the best to be able to talk about it with them (especially since Amy and Lou are doctors/nurses who helped with the death scene). 💉💉💉🩸 They’ve all demanded their names be put into book 4 (which I have anyway). 🥹💕❤️🙏 and they won’t be killed, either… #bookclub #bookclubofinstagram #bookclubs #bookcommunity #bookclubbook #bookclubreads #bookclubpick #bookclubread #bookclubfavorites #bookclubgirl #bookclubselection #booksbooksbooks #bookstack #bookshelves #bookworm

🖤 Book Review 🖤 Book club pick for April! Genre: Horror Pages: 341 Rating: ⭐️⭐️💫 Publisher: Berkley Pub Date: 03/05/24 👻 Review: I love Simone St. James and I love the paranormal, but this one just didn’t hit for me. There were several plot points that didn’t make sense to me. The storyline felt rushed and not completely flushed out. It’s alluded to throughout most of the book that the main character, April, has a horrible backstory, but once we found out what happened, it felt more sad than anything. The atmosphere of a haunted road and a mystery that needed to be solved kept me reading, however, I don’t think this is one is as memorable as her other books. I would still recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick, spooky read!

Dear Bookstagrammers, Trust you are well and in good health! Another book review is here and this time I am reviewing "Red Kingdom" by Rachel Demeter which is a captivating fantasy novel that transports readers to a world of magic, intrigue, and adventure. This dark fantasy novel is a passionate historical romance, the second fairytale retelling that narrates the story of the Little Red Riding Hood that will leave the reader captivated by all. Set in a richly imagined kingdom plagued by political turmoil and dark forces, Demeter weaves a spellbinding tale of courage, sacrifice, and redemption. At the heart of the story is a compelling cast of characters, each grappling with their own demons and desires. From the courageous young heroine fighting to reclaim her birthright to the enigmatic sorcerer harbouring a dangerous secret, every character is meticulously crafted and infused with depth and complexity. Demeter's writing is evocative and immersive, drawing readers into a vividly realized world filled with lush landscapes, treacherous dungeons, and looming threats. The pacing is brisk, with twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end. What sets "Red Kingdom" apart is its exploration of themes such as power, betrayal, and the nature of heroism. Through the trials and tribulations of her characters, Demeter delves into the complexities of morality and the consequences of one's actions, leaving readers pondering long after the final page is turned. Well done to the author for this amazing masterpiece. #SpringReading #Bookworm #CozySpringDays #ReadingTime #BookwormLife #EscapeIntoBooks #bookblogger #bookstagramming #bookstagrammers #bookstafriendz #bookgram #bookgram #bookgram #book #bookphotography #bookig #bookblogging #booksbooksbooks #bookclubselection #bookinfluencer #booklovers #booknerd #bookclub #booknerdigans #bookaddict #bookrecommendations ---

•The Fairytale Life of Dorothy Gale by Virginia Kantra• ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “You had the power inside you all along. You just had to find it.” The Fairytale Life of Dorothy Gale was such a fun, cute retelling of the Wizard of Oz, and I am nothing if not a sucker for a good retelling. I love that the scarecrow and Tin Man were love interests and that there are so many playful nods to the original story! There were several slow points in the story. I loved the concept but didn’t find the overall development to be particularly exciting. Although after just completing my own masters in the UK, the story was very relatable! #2024goals 11/24 Sharada’s Book Review Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver Sharada’s Book Rating 10/10 This book came highly recommended by several people whose opinion I respect. As you can see, it has also won several awards, including the Pulitzer. And it did not disappoint. Narrated by the protagonist, 16-year-old youth, it is a sad portrayal of the American foster system, and the opioid crisis. The narration starts with the birth of the child, and at that point, you know that all odds are stacked against this child ever having a good life. And yet, Demon Copperhead, wants to live a good life and wants to be a good person. The details of the lives of drug addicts, their challenges the system that doesn’t really help them get out of their addiction is frightening. There lots of humor scattered throughout the book. And through all the pain and ups and downs that Demon goes through, there is so much hope. Barbara Kingsolver is a master researcher and writer. I hope to read more of her books. #pulitzerpricewinner #oprahbookclubselection #newyorktimesbestseller #wallstreetjournalbestseller #washingtonpostbestseller #fiction #bookclubselection #books #reading #demoncopperhead #barbarakingsolver
