Happy Monday! 🌲 Over the weekend, I finished Sarah Crouch’s debut novel, Middletide. In all honesty, it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. Here’s What I Did Enjoy: 🌲The small town setting of Point Orchards 🌲 The beautiful descriptions of the forests and waters of the PNW 🌲 The intriguing premise 🌲 The last 1/3 of the book picked up the pace and kept the pages turning. Some Things Which Weren’t My Favorite 🌲The first 2/3’s of the book were very slow paced. Although I do enjoy slower paced, character driven novels, not much at all happened during this time. 🌲Most of the characters were unlikeable. 🌲I could not make any connection at all with the protagonist, Elijah Leith. I found him very unlikeable, immature and never showing much growth. It makes for a less enjoyable read when I’m completely turned off by the main character. 🌲I have seen plenty of reviews by those who’ve loved this book, so it might be a case of it’s me, not the book. Will I give Sarah Crouch’s sophomore book a chance? Most definitely. 🌲What was the last book that you wanted to love, yet it just didn’t work for you? 💛Hope your week is off to a fabulous start, my friends. #bookofthemonth #botm #atriabooks #mystery #suspense #crime #comtemporaryfiction #bookreview #newrelease #romance

I’ve been neglecting posting on here because I’ve been so busy and overwhelmed. But, I’m still reading a lot because it’s one of my coping skills! These two reads were fantastic, but for different reasons. I love Emily Henry’s books, and this one did not disappoint. If you need something lighter (although there were some deeper moments) and funny, this is perfect. I also loved reading my Book of the Month pick for May, The Return of Ellie Black. Such a good mystery and felt like a unique story, even though some elements have been done before. I really enjoyed reading it! #bookofthemonth #thereturnofellieblack #emilyhenry #funnystory

📚 BOTM Review: THE MINISTRY OF TIME By Kaliane Bradley ⏱️ Science fiction ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THE MINISTRY OF TIME is mind bending and laced with history, humor and romance. The end is bonkers (in the best way) and I honestly didn’t see the twist coming. Those are the highlights, but this book also touches lightly on climate change, women’s rights, homophobia, crimes against humanity, race, colonization and other tough topics. The writing is unique and rich. The romance in THE MINISTRY OF TIME is top-tier. It made me swoon, and the spicy scenes are really well done. I mean, who wouldn’t fall in love with a handsome, self possessed Naval commander from the 1840s? Sigh. Set in London in the not-too-distant future, our female protagonist works for the state department. She’s just landed a promotion acting as a “bridge” for “expats” - who are actually people from the past. She is paired with Naval Commander Graham Gore (an actual person with their own Wikipedia page, by the way), who was extracted from 1847 before he is fated to die in the failed Franklin Expedition to the arctic. 🥶 Now, I saw someone in their Goodreads review compare THE MINISTRY OF TIME to Outlander. Allow me to climb on my soapbox. Diana Gabaldon has expressly stated that James Alexander Malcom McKenzie Fraser (my favorite book character of all time) would, under absolutely no circumstance, ever travel to the future. (Climbing down now). However, if he DID, I imagine he’d have some of the same observations about the future as Graham does in this book. So I understand the comparison but maintain that THE MINISTRY OF TIME is not like Outlander at all. Read this one if you like spy novels, history, romance, speculative fiction, science fiction and writing that’s out of the ordinary. I personally am a total sucker for the time travel trope so I knew I’d love this and if you like quirky books I think you will, too! #botm #theministryoftime #kalianebradley #sciencefictionbooks #bookofthemonth #bookreview #bookrecommendation

𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖: Middletide by Sarah Crouch 𝙶𝚎𝚗𝚛𝚎: Mystery/Suspense Read if you enjoy: + Books about authors + Pacific Northwest setting + 1970s/1990s + Homesteading + Nature ________ Do you enjoy atmospheric, slow-burn, introspective mysteries? If so, this one might be for you! —WHAT I LIKED— Pretty much all of it. I love books that use the richness of nature as an overarching theme. I also love slower paced mysteries over twisty thrillers. The (mostly) 90’s time frame was such a pleasant surprise as well. —WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE— This one is pretty straightforward without a lot of twists and turns. At times, the pacing was slow without a defined purpose, perhaps. It didn’t necessarily bother me, but I think a few “wow” moments could have been added in. Content Warnings: + Death of a parent and child (briefly on page and referenced throughout) + Su!c!de + Domestic abu$e (referenced/off page) 𝚁𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐: 4.5/5

✨REVIEW✨ The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams Published August 2022 @williammorrowbooks ⭐️3.5/5 I had heard such great things about this book. The theme was lovely - two characters with nothing in common find a connection and build a beautiful friendship over books and their new love of reading. I found it, though, very hard to get into. Was honestly considering it a DNF but I persevered and am happy I did. Was beautiful to see the relationship Mukesh made with Aleisha, as well as his young granddaughter, Priya. The ending was a lovely wrap up to the book and I loved the authors own reading list at the end. I loved the reading list put together with favourites, with one of my faves To Kill A Mockingbird at the top. ❓if you were to put a reading list together, what books would add? I’ll add mine in the comments ❤️ #book #booklover #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookshelf #reading #bookworm #bookblog #books #tbr #tbrlist #booksofinstgram #bookstagrammer #bookstack #goodreads #bookinspo #bookofthemonth #book-clubs #bookstagramcanada #booklovers #booknerd #booklover #read #booknerd #bookphotography #bookaddict

☀️Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez☀️ •Romcom •Meet Cute •He falls first •Mental health rep The Story: One Reddit thread leads to Justin and Emma discovering they have a mutual curse- everyone they date meets “the one” right after they break up with them. Together they create a pact, if they date each other for long enough, once they break up, they’ll each find their own happily ever after. Four dates, one kiss, and a breakup. But when real feelings, toxic mothers, and traumatic childhoods are thrown into the mix, nothing goes according to plan. What I thought: I read this in one siting. I couldn’t put it down. It gave me butterflies and so many feelings. Wrapped up reading The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo this weekend. I gave this book a 3.75/5. I struggled at first to get into the story but once I did, I had a really good time reading this story following Snow as she searches for the one who killed her child. ɪɴsᴛᴀɴᴛ ʀᴇᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ: I picked How to End a Love Story as my April @bookofthemonth pick, and I’m pretty impressed with myself that I read it by the middle of May. I am trying to be better about reading my #botm picks within the month I receive them, but if I get to it by end of the next month, I am happy. I was seriously punched in the feels by @yulin.kuang debut novel, in the best way possible. It’s a gift to be able to write a romance that so deftly touches on serious themes relating to mental health, suicide, the pressures and struggles of being first generation Americans while still being sweet, laugh-out-loud funny, spicy, and a genuine page-turner. Helen and Grant were lovely main characters, who liked and loved each other despite their differences, while having this shared childhood tragedy between them that they need to work past. The gaggle of supporting characters were thoroughly enjoyable, providing well-timed comic relief. And who doesn’t enjoy a Hollywood-insider romance? If I hadn’t been reading at the same time as another book, it would have been a one-sitting read for me. Highly recommend! @avonbooks @harpervoyagerus ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 sᴘɪᴄᴇ: 🌶️🌶️ #howtoendalovestory #yulinkuang #bookstagram #readersgonnaread #booksbooksbooks #thebookishdiplomat #botm #bookofthemonth #harpercollins #avon #romancereader #ireadromance #bookdragon

Books in 2024: 13. A Nearly Normal Family by M.T. Edvardsson. This one was super interesting. The way it was written with the different perspectives of the same thing was really eye opening in the sense that the same event can be completely different depending on who is telling you the story. I really liked it, the plot gripped me and I wanted to know what happened so badly that by like the last quarter of the book I couldn't put it down because I needed to know. . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . #anearlynormalfamily #mtedvardsson #bookofthemonth #botm #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #thriller

The Return of Ellie Black by Emiko Jean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Dark • Washington setting • Tense • Strong female character A perfect book to read on a rainy day! This had a slower start and the writing threw me off at first but the overall story and the twists were really good. The way so many characters connected at the end was very satisfying. If you are a sensitive reader please check the content warnings, this book is really raw and goes into details. Overall, I think this was unique enough in a thriller sub-genre that has been very popular lately and that is not an easy thing to accomplish. #iolanna_what_to_read #bookofthemonth #thereturnofellieblack

Hello Readers…Happy Monday! 🌳 Did you have a good weekend? We had a fun, full weekend and I also managed to get some good reading done. One of last week’s reads was Just Another Missing Person, by Gillian McAllister. I had such high hopes for this one since I loved the author’s previous book and found it to be not only entertaining, but unique and clever. This story, however, was very confusing & convoluted. Despite the fact that I’ve read many mysteries/thrillers, I really wasn’t able to follow much of what was happening and I couldn’t keep track of the many characters. The conclusion also felt unrealistic and therefore unsatisfying. I will definitely read this author’s next book, but sadly, this one was a miss for me. #justanothermissingperson #bookofthemonth #botm #mysterythriller #crimebookjunkie #bookaddict #reader #bookreview #bookstagram #missreadalot

@misterosman #richardosman #richardosmanbook #richardosmanbooks #richardosmanauthor #ilclubdeidelittidelgiovedì #bücher #bücherliebe #libro #librosrecomendados #libros #bookclub #thrillersbythebookclub #thrillerbooklover #thriller #kindleitalia #kindlebooks #kindlereads #kindleunlimited #bibliophile #bibliofilia #biblioteche #bibliothek #storiealietofine #booktokitalia #booktoread #bookofthemonth #bookobsessed #bookoftheday #booktography #booktag

👠 B O O K R E V I E W 👠 Hello Beautiful ✍️ @annnapolitano 🏀 SYNOPSIS – William grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, but basketball was his refuge. At college, he meets Julia, who along with her three sisters, welcome him into their loving, chaotic home. But, you can’t outrun darkness forever, and when William’s past catches up with him, the damage ripples through his new family threatening the bonds of family and sisterhood. 🏀 REVEW – “That kind of loss must be hard…I didn’t expect for it to be part of everything, every minute. I didn’t know you could lose someone and that meant you lost so much else.” I read two books about grief and death in close proximity, and they were both so different yet executed so well. Hello Beautiful is a character driven novel about four sisters living in Chicago and described as a modern retelling of Little Women. However, you do not need to be familiar with that story to enjoy this one. If you need an action-filled plot, this one would not be for you, but, if you are willing to explore character-driven storylines, add this one to your TBR! There is a richness to the story and the storylines of Sylvie, Julia and even Alice that makes this one special, yet emotional. The struggles William endures are so real, and yet, dare I say beautifully portray the unspoken battles with mental illness that can transcend decades if not generations. Family dynamics, forbidden love, grief, sisterhood, mental health and personal growth are all explored and portrayed through the lives of these characters. This book will stay with you a good while after the final page. The writing is beautiful, so take your time with this one and savor every page. While my daddy didn’t say Hello Beautiful when he saw me, he always said “Well, Hello, Jilly,” and it meant the same. I know one day I will hear him greet me like that again, and to that I will reply, “Well Hello, Daddy.” PS – I recommend the audio version narrated by Maura Tierney. Her voice is the perfect way to experience this heart-breaking story filled with love and hope. VERDICT – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

◽️Murder Road by Simone St. James Swipe for GoodReads synopsis “The thought bubbled through my mind, unbidden: I don’t want to do this anymore. I want more. Surviving to tomorrow wasn’t good enough. Not anymore.” I have really enjoyed the other two St. James books (pictured) that I have read. She writes thrillers with paranormal occurrences woven in, which I think is really fun and just a bit different from the thrillers I typically read. I have to say though, I think this is my least favorite that I have read. That being said, I did still find it enjoyable and it held my attention, but the reveals didn’t feel exciting to me. I did really like Eddie and April, our MCs, though and I found myself rooting for them. I would LOVE a spin-off of the Snell Sisters though— the teenage locals who help Eddie and April with the investigation of of what has been happening at Atticus Line. My rating for this one is ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5) stars. Do you enjoy paranormal thrillers? ◽️

4.8 stars! let me start by saying I love Viking lore so it was fate that I would enjoy A Fate Inked in Blood. there is war, prophecy, bloodshed, lore, betrayal, and spice all wrapped up into one. I would give this 5 stars but the plot twists are a tad predictable if you’re observant and the story hit a lull about halfway. also, the audiobook is IMMENSELY helpful with pronunciations throughout the story. . . . . #fantasy #romantasy #romance #viking #bookish #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #bookdragon #reading #readinglist #bookreview #bookstagram #booktok #booksgrammer #afateinkedinblood #bookofthemonth #botm

I was hooked, and I really wanted Solène & Hayes to work it out, but I totally understood the decisions she made. It did get a bit waffley in parts and a bit unrealistic, in my opinion, but I did enjoy it! I gave it 3*/5 on @goodreads just because of the ending! Can't wait to watch the movie! #bookstagram #books #goodreads #read reader #readersofinstagram #bookshelf #bookrecommendations #booklover #reading #readingaddict #bookaddict #bookworm #readingmaterial #bookshelf #booksofinstagram #kindle #kindlebooks #kindlebooksofinsta #primereading #booknerd #readmorebooks #galswhoread # #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookofthemonth #bookoftheday2024

Book 59 of 2024 3/5 ⭐️s How to Stop Time follows Tom Hazard, a 430 year-old who looks about 41. It alternates between past (and I’m talking the 1600s kind of past) to present focusing on defining moments in his long life such as meeting Shakespeare and Fitzgerald and the birth of his now estranged daughter with a similar anti-aging condition. There’s a lot to unpack in this book, but I do have to say it’s definitely my least favorite I’ve read from Matt Haig. I didn’t connect with this book the way I would have hoped, but I’d still recommend it.

Books 46, 47, 48, 49 of 2024 Read all these whilst on holiday. Very easy reading. Usual chick-lit style! There are 5 books in this series all set within Chestnut Springs in the Canadian mountains. I read the first one last year. Each book is based on a different character within the Eaton family, although I have to say that I think Harvey is the best! Gave each book 3*/5 on @goodreads #bookstagram #books #goodreads #read reader #readersofinstagram #bookshelf #bookrecommendations #booklover #reading #readingaddict #bookaddict #bookworm #readingmaterial #bookshelf #booksofinstagram #kindle #kindlebooks #kindlebooksofinsta #primereading #booknerd #readmorebooks #galswhoread # #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookofthemonth #bookoftheday2024

I got an email that credits in my back up Book of the Month account (yes, I know) were expiring (which I didn't know could happen!) so I threw together an emergency box to make sure I didn't lose them! What I picked: The Ministry of Time, Happily Never After, and The Demon of Unrest. 🌻summer tbr🌻 Showing off some potential hardcovers on my summer tbr. If you know me, you know I’m not a huge tbr maker because I’m a big mood reader. I rarely plan what I’m reading ahead of time because I know I won’t stick to it. This summer will be a little different. I’m visiting my parents in Dallas for two months in between moving out of nyc and moving to Delaware for school, so whatever I can bring with me is what I’ll be reading. These are a handful of books I’m planning to stuff into various suitcases for some summer reading. On a side note, if any of my Dallas followers have recs for things to do over the summer please send them my way!! Especially cute museums, coffee shops, and bookstores that I should go visit. ❓what are your must read books for the summer❓

How to End a Love Story by @yulin.kuang Rating 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 The way this book balances grief, trauma, friendship, love, family, and a GOOD amount of spice is incredible. I had know idea where this story could go when I first started it, but love it at the end. I related to Helen's story of trying to find her place at work and with friends and the imposter syndrome she dealt with in the writers room. I loved Grant's naturally charming ways and the LOVED the moments he went a bit caveman (like writing his address on Helen's inner thing🤪) 99% of the spice was great. Some of it was a littlr cringey to me, but that's my own taste. Didn't let it ruin the moment and definitely couldn't ruin this wonderful book. . . . #howtoendalovestory #yulinkuang #bookofthemonth #botm #romancebookrecs #workplaceromance #enemiestolovers #romancereadersofinstagram #bookish #bookstagrammer #bookworm

🤰Audiobook Review🤰 Ready or Not by Cara Bastone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Alex Finke narrates this laugh-out-loud surprise pregnancy rom-com. The narrator was PHENOMENAL. I was so pleasantly surprised because usually, if I hear the words "accidental pregnancy," I shy away from that trope, but I truly couldn't get enough. If you are a mom or looking for a hilarious read with a backdrop in Brooklyn with found family vibes, give this a listen!
