On today’s episode of Things I Give A Shit About.. ⠀ Hands on adjustments. ⠀ Why are yoga teachers offering hands on adjustments to their students without first asking for consent?! ⠀ Before you touch a student, you need to ask permission. Before you touch anyone, ask permission. Period. ⠀ Taking a yoga class is a great way to work on things that show up while we’re on our mat, which is supposed to be a safe space. Past traumas, both physical and emotional, both known and unknown, resurface while we’re in our practice. ⠀ Students show up to our yoga class with a life lived that really, we know nothing about. ⠀ If a student has an injury they haven’t verbalized, and a teacher gives an adjustment that is counterproductive for that injury, it may injure them further. ⠀ If a student has experienced any form of physical assault, and a teacher touches that student in a way that triggers a flashback, it may re-traumatize them. ⠀ Yoga is meant to be a therapeutic practice; something that brings students back into balance. Our first step in teaching is to care for our students and that includes asking for consent before we ever touch them. ⠀ Sometimes I offer a simple “thumbs up” in child’s pose if it’s “ok for me to touch”, or I’ll offer an oracle card before class and ask students to “place the card face up if you’d like hands on adjustments, or face down if you’d like to be left alone.” ⠀ What tactics have you used and loved? ⠀ If you don’t ask permission, why not? #handsonadjustments #donttouchme #whentotouch

I love the way RUTH KADIRI raises young talented youths out there. I love her marriage too, free of scandal. I have read countless time on social media where Chidi Dike, an actor she raised from nothing to something showering encomiums on her. Chidi Dike made it clear to anybody who care to listen, that Ruth Kadiri stepped into his world and flipped it. He expresses his love for her every now and then. To him, he doesnt need a special day to appreciate Ruth whom he regards as his queen, mother and mentor. I love fowls that remembered whom defeathered them during rainy season. Such an appreciative person will always receive more favor from God and humans. Ruth Kadiri married a very handsome supportive young man and their marriage has been going on smoothly. But I have a plea to make. Chidi Dike should stop getting too close to somebody's wife. This display of affection is not necessary,we all know that she has helped him. She is somebody's wife, he should give her husband respect. This is not to say that there is something romantic going on between both of them. I know that Ruth's husband trusts her a lot. I don't care if it is her husband that took this picture of both of them. All I want is that Chidi Dike should give Ruth some space. Imagine him touching the stomach of someone's wife like that. Even if it is a movie, there should be some boundaries. I must commend Ruth's husband for trusting his wife so much because someone like me can't tolerate this level of Chidi's closeness to my wife. While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help. Widespread pain. To be considered widespread, the pain must occur on both sides of your body and above and below your waist. Fatigue.
