I am guilty as charged when it comes to throwing all my energy at whatever I believe needs to get done and I tend to make this one thing the most important one in the very moment. While this passion has its advantages, whenever this goes on beyond a couple of days, or weeks it is usually not sustainable and impacts my mental wellbeing. I did get lucky once (back when I was at the beginning of my tech career) and learned just before sh** really hit the fan that I needed to take a step back. And since I burned my fingers once, I can now see the signs that I am starting to slowly burn out early on. And I have slowly gotten better in managing my energies so that overall I am running on a slightly steadier flame and I take pauses to nurture my inner fire making sure it won’t burn me. Making my mental wellbeing a priority and finding meaning in things beyond my work helped me to put things into perspective and to allow myself to take proper breaks and to focus on proper Rest. Alone time in nature, family and friends, as well as my practice are what mean a real break for me and I wouldn’t want to miss either of those 🤍 So maybe a little reminder for everyone out there, who might feel overwhelmed or overworked and it looks like you are indispensable… somehow there are nearly always ways to take a step back or to slow down and you might be surprised how gaps that you leave can (temporarily) be closed or how other people manage to step up. 📷 @solwards #breathwork #manageyourenergy #slowdown #slowburningfire #yogafuerteventura #onlinebreathwork #mindfulness #selfcare #yinyoga

Pomalu hořící oheň - Paula Hawkins 3/5 ⭐ ⭐⭐ Tato kniha je třetí a zatím poslední dílo od Pauly Hawkins které jsem četla. Bohužel jsem byla opět zklamaná a další knížky od této autorky asi zatím vynechám. Znovu se jedná o thriller, středem je zde vražda mladíka Daniela, který je nalezen brutálně zavražděn na své lodi. V případu figurují tři ženy, které zdánlivě nemají nic společného, ale právě tato událost začne odkrývat nejen jejich tajemství. Jak to tak u podobných knih bývá, je zde hodně věcí, které musí být odhaleno aby byl nakonec případ zdárně vyřešen. Narazila jsem zde na stejný problém jako u knihy Do vody, a to že mi kniha místy připadala zmatečná. Navíc mi všechny tři ženy přišly velmi nesympatické a četla jsem vlastně jen proto abych se dozvěděla, jak to celé skončí. Kniha není vyloženě propadák, některá odhalení byla zajímavá, ale chybělo tomu dotažení. Christmas in a pandemic equaled a quiet family of 5 Christmas… with lots of new toys to be destroyed/played with and a book to be consumed. I loved Girl on a Train and therefore when I saw Paula Hawkins had a new book, it was a must purchase. Classic thriller with truly traumatized characters, all intertwined to create this story. You are left really only like one or two of the characters and wondering what the f is the matter with people. However, she has some mental illness as she was in a terrible accident when she was 10. 🔥 The title "burning fire" reflects the major emotions related to anger, jealous, murder and deceit tagged with the characters in the story. 🔥The narration is no less than a movie of a time traveller being switched between the timelines. 🔥This mystery novel has many twists and twirls, one would never expect what's coming. 🔥I can say, this story may not be as interesting as 'the girl on the train' but one would certainly love the writing style of this thriller queen @paulahawkins2010 🔥One more point to be noted, I have observed that Hawkins puts atleast one main character with mental illness in her novels. I don't know whether it is coincidence or intentional but I found it weird. 🔷 E vamos falar hoje desse livro inédito da autora Paula Hawkins, que escreveu também o best-seller "A Garota no Trem", lançado em 2015. 🔷Em Fogo Lento foi o livro de setembro do clube inéditos da @taglivros, que estreou internacionalmente em 31 de agosto deste ano, sendo bem legal participar dessa experiência em primeira mão! 🔷 O livro tem aquelas características clássicas de outras obras da autora como, personagens femininas complexas, narração de múltiplos personagens e um mistério pairando no ar. 🔷 Nessa história Daniel, um jovem rapaz, é friamente assassinado em sua casa/barco e os suspeitos são os membros da sua própria família, uma vizinha "enxerida" e a última mulher que o viu com vida. 🔷Além do mistério principal, temos também um mistério paralelo. A vizinha "enxerida" mantém uma relação conflituosa com o tio de Daniel e acredita que o tio tenha roubado as partes mais traumáticas de sua autobiografia e usado sua história de inspiração para um romance policial. Motivada pelo ódio, ela não hesita em se meter na investigação na tentativa de incriminar quem lhe fez mal. 🔷 Eu gostei bastante do livro, o ritmo é rápido e interessante e acredito que os personagens tenham sido bem construídos. Especialmente Laura, a principal suspeita e última mulher que viu Daniel com vida. Ela é incriminada por ser uma suspeita "óbvia", mas também por ser uma pessoa em vulnerabilidade, sozinha e com vários problemas psicológicos e neurológicos. September ended up being the 3rd highest mileage month of my life - right behind July and August! 😬😃 Not bad for a month that included a cautious build from a 30k PR, and an unexpected 10k PR. * 5-10 years ago I would’ve thought that this mileage was too tiring. It’s true how your body adapts though. But 5-10 years ago I also had too much stress and accepted this as the “thrill of being busy”, and then I wondered why my body wasn’t "made for running”.
