~ Breeding/ Foaling and Rehab ~ The breeding season is at its peak and it is important for me to remind you that during this period of time, specially for the mare, the living system work much harder and needs special attention. During pregnancy the whole body will adapt to make sure the foal has enough space to grow. The internal organs will then be disturbed as they will have less space to function properly and they will not be in their natural physiological positions. But more importantly, the whole ligament system in the pelvic area (I am including the sacrum obviously) will change, adapt to make sure the delivery of the foal will take place in the best conditions. May I remind you that the ovaries are located behind the saddle, in the lumbar area and they are suspended in the pelvic area by the broad ligament? The ovaries have contacts with small intestine & the caecum. Tensions over the urogenital system will lead to pain (obviously), discomfort on the back, will make the rider-horse lives much more difficult, argumentative relationships, misunderstanding. ‘Behavioural problems’ etc etc… It always breaks my heart to hear insults, judgmental speeches from owners regarding their horses and specifically their mares. As we highly recommend (well, I do!) rehab for women after pregnancy, why should not be the case for mares❓⁉️ This is not because they are not in work that they do not need to be assess and treated accordingly and it seems that I am the only Osteopath who is mentioning and performing the rehab after pregnancy. 🤷🏻♀️ Any questions? Es muy difícil escribir sobre este libro. . . Terminé "Visceral" de María Fernanda Ampuero hace unos días y todavía no puedo procesarlo. Estoy segura de que es un libro que no voy a terminar de procesar nunca. . . En esta especie de autoficción y autobiografía, Ampuero habla de temas de los que nadie habla, como ser la gordofobia, el deseo de gestar un hijo y el dolor de no lograrlo, el sentimiento de aislamiento y soledad que siente la persona que migra y el horror del COVID. . . Algunos capítulos los leí con taquicardia, otros quedaron todos subrayados, otros me hicieron temblar el pulso. Ni una palabra me fue indiferente. . . Me hizo sentir algo que creía que eran sensaciones opuestas: sentir que el libro está vomitado, que cada capítulo fue escrito de un tirón.
