ACA’s Academic Awards Assembly was a beautiful celebration of academic achievements from Upper Elementary through High School (4th–12th Grade). In the spirit of love and giving this month, ACA’s Student Body Government (SBG) initiated a Blood Drive and hosted the National Blood Service Commission on our campus. Collectively, our ACA Family donated 22 pints of blood from 22 people that can save 66 lives (and more!) 🩸 Thank you to our young student leaders, and to our entire ACA family — staff, parents, alumni and everyone who donated. We also appreciate all those who got screened and intend to donate blood, and we all learned the many benefits of blood donation (both for ourselves and anyone in need). This Thanksgiving month, Grandma Monie taught us about the importance of gratitude. "Who are we thankful for, and how do we show them?" As she asked our young students, she reminded us all that we should be thankful not just for our close family and friends, but for the people around us that support us in different ways: The gardener who tends the landscape around us The cleaners who clean our homes and schools The security guard who keeps us safe The driver who gets us safely to school and back The help who keeps the house organized The chef who cooks our meals... And so we went round saying, "Thank you!" Who are you thankful for? Will you tell them "thank you" today? What gives you this much joy?! For our KG students, it's FAMILY 😍❤️ We loved seeing all the laughs and smiles on all these little faces yesterday, as our teacher mentioned the names of each child's brother or sister or mom or dad. We got the widest smiles, deepest laughs and highest shrills... It seemed even more than the joy of recess! Here, Ms. Tosin tells us that in our little families, we are all connected. She also reminds us that we are all one big family, no matter our skin color, and our Heavenly Father loves us so much! It was even more special and such a joy to see this play out, as some of our KG students came together like a family and helped each other out (independently and unprompted) during their early morning routines and circle time. Happy Weekend! Can you guess which continent our pre-KG students were excited to learn all about here? 😃 •🌍🌎🌏• Our young world explorer got to spin the globe around and confidently point to this far continent "down under" ;) as the rest of his classmates grabbed their cowboy hats and boots and bandanas for some fun outdoors. They learned a little about different countries and islands, unique foods and animals, dressing, native tribes like the Maori, and a fun little phrase for a very Aussie "Good morning". At ACA, we find fun and holistic educational ways to create an awareness of our world from a young age. We are proud to welcome students from diverse backgrounds and languages across the world. While English and French are the languages we encourage on campus to promote inclusivity, our ESL programs have done an excellent job assisting students (and parents) who may not even speak English at all. IGCSE Geography students on a weekend field trip to Ado Awaye in Oyo State to conclude their learning experience on the natural environment and landscape. • 3. IGCSE Art students on a weekend field trip to Landmark and Oniru beaches in Lagos to explore the coastal environment depicting beach-related still-life scenes. We love taking learning outside the classroom at ACA, and we always hope that it's a fun and rewarding educational experience too. Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 This past semester, our Pre-KG students have been learning all about "Continents" in Earth Science! Today, we look back at "North America Day" in photos, in honor of Independence Day in the United States. Our kids learned about different flags, countries, attires, history, fun traditions, Independence Day and fireworks, and then brought it back home with some songs (including the Star Spangled Banner of course!) 🎆🎶 Thank you to all parents and staff involved for making learning fun for our little ones, as we "visited" a different continent each week. Here is how they sign out...SWIPE😍 Having had an enlightening, educative, engaging, participatory and fun week of internship,the interns from American Christian Academy pose for beautiful shots as they complete their internship. The interns had sessions learning about social impact, SDGs, planning an intervention, discussing what they could do in line with the SDG that resonated with them and how they could solve problems in their community, went for field work, came up with PowerPoint presentations on social issues, worked as a team, created video content, interacted with the team, developed new skills and yes, the fun part wasn't excluded 😅 MAYEIN appreciates the management of American Christian Academy @acaonefamily for this laudable initiative the school has included in its curriculum. It is an initiative that should be embraced by schools as a way to get the young ones involved in community service and social impact, as we work towards solving social problems.
