France’s objective is to give space to a great year of reform and change, which will project Europe into a new era, that of post-covid, and which will see a new Europe, sovereign, federal. This must be pass also by a radical reform of the European political system. 🇫🇷🇪🇺 Paris and the whole of France celebrated the beginning of the French presidency of the European Council by coloring the most important monuments of Paris in blue and with our flag 🇪🇺💙💛👇🏻 In particular, we have seen the arc de triomphe with a huge European flag that waved, visible from kilometers of distance 🇪🇺❤ An exceptional and highly symbolic event for which I thank President Macron. A clear and inevocable message is there: Europe is united, and we want a more and more strong and sovereign Europe. 🇪🇺⭐ Now the European flag was taken down over the weekend after its placement sparked criticism among right-wing politicians. ⚠️ But this is actually a media construction, the European flag was removed in accordance with its Planned installation! It was never intended to leave the European flag under the arch permanently, but it was planned to leave it only for the New Year’s weekend. The thing that shocked me the most were the reactions of the French right-wing parties, from Le Pen to Pécrasse, whether right-wing or centre-right, both showed contempt and anger towards our flag. It makes us reflect. Would these people want to rule France in the next five years? It is, of course, up to the French to decide; but the controversy they have built around the European flag has been truly ridiculous, and if these are their best arguments for election campaign there is cause for concern. Having said that, I hope that most French people have not seen this choice as a way of replacing the French flag, because that is not the case. Europe, what it represents, its values and its flag, are not something foreign, they are not something that replaces; we are Europe, and the European flag is the flag of the French. While the negotiations between France and the United Kingdom over the valuable access to British waters are stalling, the French National Committee of Fisheries has announced today the blocking of access to three ports of the Channel and the tunnel under the Channel for the goods. Fishermen blocked the arrival of ferries at the ports of Saint-Malo, Ouistreham and Calais. On land, they also blocked access for freight trucks to the Channel Tunnel freight terminal for a few hours. They want their licences back. France is calling for more fishing licences in the United Kingdom and the Channel Island of Jersey under the post-Brexit agreement signed at the end of 2020! The UK didn't respect it. November 17, 1989 is the date that marks the beginning of what will go down in history as the Velvet Revolution, or Gentile Revolution, which lasted until December 29 of the same year and ended with the fall of the communist regime. The protests, which arose spontaneously, ended the Communist Party after 41 years in power in what was then Czechoslovakia and the birth of the Parliamentary Republic. At first, students and artists protested against the power, under the leadership of, among others, Vàclav Havel, the future and last president of Czechoslovakia. The protests continued until December 1989 and led to the first democratic elections in June 1990 and the division between Slovakia and the Czech Republic on January 1, 1993. Alzi la mano chi non ha puntato il dito contro questo o quell’altro politico nel recente passato o in avvicinamento a questa tornata elettorale per denunciare una presunta violazione del silenzio elettorale. Lo stesso #Renzi, ieri, si è lasciato scappare un commento disinformato nei riguardi di #Salvini, accusandolo per l’appunto di proseguire imperterrito nella sua propaganda, nonostante l’esplicito divieto. Bene, l’art 9-bis del d.l. n. 807/1984, recante “disposizioni urgenti in materia di trasmissioni radiotelevisive”, integra e aggiorna le norme inizialmente contenute nella legge n. 212/1956 al fine, per l’appunto, di estendere l’applicazione del silenzio elettorale agli allora moderni mezzi di comunicazione e diffusione. In particolare, il divieto è disposto, esclusivamente e specificatamente, nei confronti delle “emittenti radiotelevisive”. Naturalmente, questa disposizione è oggi divenuta ampiamente datata, ma risulta francamente impossibile distorcere la lettera della norma fino al punto da includere tecnologie che non potevano essere neppure concepite dal legislatore dell’epoca. Sarebbe forse stato opportuno colmare la lacuna dell’ordinamento con un secondo decreto legge correttivo, che adeguasse la legislazione in vista di questo appuntamento perché ricomprendesse esplicitamente i social, ovvero il principale costruttore di consenso. Più probabilmente, la scelta di mantenere uno spazio liberalizzato di espressione è stata consapevole, pur tenuto conto dei pericoli insiti a queste piattaforme. Sarebbe quantomeno auspicabile, tuttavia, raccogliere l’invito indirettamente lanciato lo scorso 15 maggio dall’Agcom di salvaguardare la genuinità delle informazioni circolanti in rete ed in generale contrastare la diffusione di “fake news”. Certo, il recente scandalo con protagonista l’alleato austriaco della Lega, costretto alle dimissioni per collusione con i russi, non depone nel senso della buona fede o della buona volontà delle attuali forze di Governo nel farsi carico di queste responsabilità.
