The gang members were fun to work with. They followed instruction well. They'd walk out single file like inmates or soldiers. You could tell they came from a structured environment. They carried themselves with respect. But at the same time they understood hierarchy. The girls seemed to be the bosses. The dudes would do whatever the gals instructed. The gals ran the show. The Star Map girl brought about ten of her gang member friends. They were all dressed in their normal gang attire which was perfect. Many of them already had extensive gang tattoos. These guys were the real deal. I instructed them to steal Micro's truck and destroy his things as they left the party. Of course none of this happened in real life. Terence Tierney as T sitting in the back of the old Buick that was loaned to us for the film. The car was owned by an Icelandic film student friend of Producer Bjorn and had faux leapord skin seats and a fold down top. This picture was probably shot during the DUI sequence. When writing a film based on a true story, you find yourself collapsing events to add to the drama as you only have a small window to tell your story. For example, Terence wasn't crippled during the actual #evictionparty, but after the party, sometime in 1993, Terence was hit by a car and broke many bones. He was on crutches for several months. For the movie, I added this handicap to the character's drinking problem for dramatic effect. It was a natural for Terence to use the crutches. He had experience. We went to the medical supply store and bought crutches and gauze and made him a plaster cast for his leg. By the end of the shoot the cast was getting water soaked and smelly. February 1992 - Everyone dressed warm for the #evictionparty as there was no heater in my 9th floor apartment. Los Angeles was experiencing record rains and flooding. It was cold. Frank was a lifelong friend. He made good money working nights doing sound editing for blockbuster movies and TV shows. He would go on to win an #emmyaward in 1993 for his sound work on Law & Order. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0298163/ Frank arrived with a case of beer in his new car wearing a $300 leather jacket, distressed jeans, button-up dress shirt, prescription eyeglasses, and designer shoes. He had a new pull out car stereo (popular in the 90s to prevent theft) in his hands and was accompanied by his elegantly dressed girfriend Stacey. Frank wasn't too happy about being portrayed as Wank in the movie #lol but if the shoe fits?! #wth I made fun of everyone in the movie. Especially myself. Frank used to play bass guitar in a rock band back in the 80s. For the movie, I saturized his visit by having Wank use drugs with Clash and reminisce about the old days, upsetting his girlfriend who then dumps him and leaves the party. None of this happened in real life. The movie is an exaggerated parody. Frank was a huge help in completing the film. As a top-tier professional he knew people and could ask for reduced rates and favors. He helped us get top notch professional sound for the movie. Good sound can make a low-budget movie watchable. Bad sound can make any movie unwatchable. Frank did all the dialogue editing and lined me up with a sound effects editor and foley artist and overdub studio and lastly a final mixing stage. The sound for EVICTED cost 10s of thousands of dollars but is xlnt. We paid only a small percentage of what these sound experts usually get paid. Someone pulled the fire alarm on the first night of the party. It was after 2am and my apartment was full of drunks, skaters, gang members, random people from bars, and neighbors. There must have been 75 people in my small bachelor apartment all very drunk and disorderly. I had given paint and brushes to all in attendance and encouraged them to be "artistic." The paint was everywhere and many had accidently leaned on freshly painted walls or spilled paint and got it all over their clothes and shoes. It was a huge mess but everyone was having fun. My apartment manager was awakened by the fire alarm and was not too pleased. Naturally he called the cops. Ten minutes later there were ten cop cars and 20 police out front and soon the manager and police were pounding on my door of my 9th floor apartment. I made peace with the cops and while doing so the manager left to go sleep. I ordered all but about 10 of my close friends to leave the party. After the cops left the party quietly continued until sunrise. Let me remind you this was the same night as my unsuccessful court appearance earlier in the day where I was ordered to vacate the apartment and pay over $2500 in back rent. The next day I bought a cheap LAPD hat on Hollywood blvd and met with my apartment manager. I promised him that if he let me have my party for the rest of the week that there would no new trouble and that I would now police my friends and peers making sure to keep a lid on the mayhem. He laughed but agreed. I also promised that after the party was over I would paint and permanently vacate the apartment. In addition we worked out a compromise on the money I owed. The party continued for a few more nights. It would begin about 10pm every night and the last people would leave just after sunrise every morning.
